Likes and Dislikes

Complaints:
I watched Ms. Cupid In Love before this drama so my opinion on Tian Xi Wei is rather negative. Her voice is so high and sometimes the emotions are exaggerated. Voice is really sharp and the story is less of a plot and more about cultivating relationships with people. (I enjoy plot>character's love life).
The story revolves around the 5 friends and not much of the world. (School, work, classmates, teachers, etc.)
The timeline of the story is only their senior 3 time and no other time. We don't see them grow and work hard towards their dreams.

Things I enjoyed:
The sweet subtle moments of care between the main couple is really worth going back to rewatch.
There are enough incidents that logically bring the two together.
The most enjoyable part is that there are no love triangle, negative thoughts and schemes.

Overall thoughts of the drama:
Its a good modern drama to pass time with and its a really cute drama however due to the fact that it revolves more around the 5 friends' relationships, it barely has any plot or exterior story to it.

Is this movie really that good?

The red fox named Bai Shisan goes on an exam where he is to find a calman who holds the elixir in his heart. Bai Shisan tricks Wang Zijin into getting the elixir with a certain two-faced teacher. Wang Zijin is a naive and poor scholar who lives with his grandma. Honestly, Bai Shisan is very quirky and loves chicken. This movie is like a short drama you can binge to and can rewatch anytime. At first, I really had a bit of expectations but this movie turned out much more emotional and amazing than my original thought. Yes, bromance is a bit less but you can expect a bit of emotional romance in here. I really want to dig my heart out to Yinglian. She is so pretty and has a pretty bad background story. If only they would star Chen Linong and Hankiz Omar into a Chinese costume drama, that would let me Stan and cry for a bit more.

What makes this drama so appealing to others?

Adachi turns 30 and becomes a magic user, his every emotion towards Kurosawa shows his charm and bewildered feeling. Their short but long lasting love story is very cute and gives you a slice of life feeling.
It isn’t so much of a sexual relationship but a wholesome relationship between two people. It’s a relationship goal that seems so unreal because of how wholesome it is.

The second main couple’s love story is pretty short and I couldn’t help but squeal because…it’s just that adorable and cute! Although I never expected the intimate scene, I am super satisfied with their relationship! Although their feelings seemed very random, I guess it’s okay because the pairing is adorable when they interact with one another.

There’s no ultimate antagonist and no love abuse in this drama so I am glad that I found this Japanese drama early. It shows that BL couples aren’t just rated R but the relationship goes more than that. They help each other grow and learn to embrace life. This really touches my heart!!! This drama is what I would rate as a great romance drama with no love triangle as it’s main focus and no external obstacles they must go through as a couple.

Honest review from an audience

Honestly lets just say this whole drama was cliche and it absolutely made me laugh because of how ridiculously good the protagonist halo is.

The best thing about this drama is the actors who carried this drama, Vesta Ding playing Xiao Bao Ye, Sun An Ke playing Lu Ying Yao and Rui Wei Hang playing Situ Lin.

I cannot fathom what this drama would be like without the three actors.
I have to applause to Rui Wei Hang because although his character is ridiculously stupid, he acted so much like a person with three personalities.

I really enjoyed the way the second lead couple were so cute! The main lead couple barely had any spice to their love journey. The way Xiao Wan Zi was overpowering in the beginning had my hopes high.
However, they decided to stop investing in her character and make Mei Shiqing look as good as possible.

The third lead couple just doesn’t make sense. Their romance barely ever happened and honestly they seem like really vague side characters like Qiu Hua, princess YingYao’s bodyguard.

To wrap it up, the villain behind the scene talks too much. He somehow has a good brain but is no match for Mei Shiqing.

Honestly, what made me want to watch it was the hook teaser. This teaser was a kiss scene of what happened and she woke up all confused, trying to find the person. It all became so simple at the end when everything was resolved but they made it look like it was a hard case. Honestly, everyone knew that he was the culprit who stole her first kiss but can’t help but look forward to the next episode. I honestly thought that Nam Jin Joo kissed her but yuri might not be shown so that made me a bit sad. Although it would be good if it was Jin Joo since she is actually so pretty and putting two pretty things together is like so beautiful. One thing I hated was the fact that there was too much of the same repeated clips but they were used a bit too much. It is like a fluffy simple detective web drama but made people want to rewatch it because of the impressions it left us or the memorable scenes it left us. My heart fluttered when Sol and Hae Young kissed on the stairways. That scene was so memorable that it made me want to rewatch it again and again. Another memorable scene was when Yun Woo and Sol kissed since he looked like a cute fluffy puppy. He gives me a feeling of being a bully since he is like a shy but bold student.

This is a rant review

The filters and setting are quite similar to many recent xianxias. There are more diversity in unique concepts such as the demon king story arc.

One thing i find unsettling is the lack of fleshed out characters. Everyone had a character setting that regulated their screen time and personality to. For example the red string master, heavenly emperor, Chu Kong, and almost the rest of the characters.

The red string master had no background and only in times of need or necessary attendence, he'd be gone. His role was somewhat significant but there were a lack of story in his character. For example, his place of origin.

The heavenly emperor had a one-track mind and never changed goals. Not a single women around him and he's never thought to reflect upon himself. Considering his rather long age, he should have gotten a more complicated mind rather than that one motto: I want to be strong.
Even with that motto, what event would have changed his mindset so drastically while growing up.

Chu Kong is a wild card. His personality is never set in stone but we can see how much of a softie he is after the second tribulation. Playing with his cold persona doesnt last very long because he is then molded to becoming a henpecked partner. No females to bother him since he's such an attractive single bachelor also with a high status.

Cang Hai aka Xiang Yun are pretty different. Xiang Yun is cheeky and full of smiles however Cang Hai is more modest and dignified due to her upbringing. The way the actress protrayed the two really shows just how well she carved the character details. I'd say they did a great job with her characterization.

I also want to rant about how they didn’t need to really get Cang Hai's dormant power to take down Hao Xuan, the heavenly emperor.
The scene of Chu Kong and Hao Xuan battling allowed me to see their power. Although I'm not sure if Hao xuan was weak due to the demon-devouring array or being inside the forest.
Although it did end with Hao Xuan falling into the void the same way Cang Hai fell into the void.

I really enjoyed the bgm and costumes. It was really amazing how everything collectively came together and formed this story.

The good and bad parts.

This drama has a short and nice plot concerning two guys with the last name of Shao.

What I really liked about this was the chemistry between the two leading actors, Joseph Wen and Xia Zhe Yuan.
This drama has a bit of BL atmosphere to it and their chemistry is amazing! I’ve said that their chemistry is amazing because I can tell that they know how to get along and as a half-blood fujoshi, I can see Shao Yiyou’s (played by Joseph Wen) eyes dripping honey! Although I do enjoy their sweet scenes, there are some things I noticed while watching the drama. Sometimes they would dub their voice in a scene and you would notice it the moment the actor starts speaking. It’s not a big problem but it kind of takes my focus off the scene/plot.

What I disliked about this drama is the episode duration. Each episode is approximately 5 minutes each! I saw that there was a few videos that complied a few episodes together. I also didn’t quite understand the character Xu Yuan’s logic. Is he the type that respects the strong and bully the weak? Or is he the one that just doesn’t like new changes? I’m honestly a bit stumped by his character development.

Is this drama worth watching?

This drama takes place in a fantasy world where there are gods, devils, demons, humans and immortals.

The drama has a naughty sweet chief of Chaos and a coldly reserved God of Fire as the main CP.

Storyline: The plot is tragically abusive and amazingly beautiful. The couple faced setbacks and inner conflict with their goals. It can be described as, you are the only one who cannot die. The plot was stretched a lot near the ending and some scenes were not really necessary. There were many loopholes and there were few logical points. Shanggu, as the chief of chaos, was to shoulder the three realms and be responsible for the peace. Shanggu is upright and sympathetic to the lives in the three realms.

Music: Honestly, the music is amazing and brings emotions to life. The lyrics are not bad and the timing that the music is inserted into the drama is lowkey. Not much to say because I'm not an expert in the music area.

Acting: Zhou Dong Yu (Shanggu) portrays Shanggu as a childlike god who was naughty growing up with Yuemi (Luo Qiu Yun) and Tian Qi (Liu Xue Yi). She shows how Shanggu changes throughout the story and how she deals with incoming obstacles. Xu Kai (Bai Jue) plays Bai Jue, one of the four true gods who is coldly reserve. During the beginning, his acting was stiff but as the drama continues, his acting felt normal and even a bit endearing. His character had noticably changed as the episodes go by. His eyes were the key part in every emotional scenes. The two actor's chemistry was respectfully amazing with the drama casts.

One thing I liked about this drama was the tragic scenes of the tribulation of chaos. The emotion of sadness and heartache was terribly bad but their acting was very convincing and well portrayed. The long lasting effect of the tribulation of chaos made me feel like there was nothing that could've changed the outcome. This felt like a huge weight was pressing down on my heart as I watch Zhou Dong Yu continue acting in the drama.

One thing I disliked was the ending. (Not gonna spoil it but I felt that the protagonist halo was so annoying and the ending wasn't really happy or satisfying.)

Honestly, this review was a bit critical because I just finished episode 49 and the ending has influenced me to write some disturbing loopholes/negative side of the drama.

I do love their storyline and character development. I still do recommend this drama if you enjoy watching Xianxia dramas and Ten Miles of Peach blossoms. This is like a shared universe of Ten Miles of Peach blossoms which was a nice to reminisce and remember some familiar names.

What to expect.

1) This drama gives second male lead vibes super badly. You never know what is right or wrong and for a moment, you start to make up a story to fill in these blank spaces in the book. It just tells us what things may be and some things may not be what people show it to be.

2) Let’s forget about everything and just appreciate how many audiences would rather choose second male leads than first male leads because the first belongs to the female lead and the second belongs to everyone.

3) We can expect a lot of other ships and other relationship puzzles. We have so much relationship problems that my brain is more puzzled than the puzzle itself.

LETS ALL ROOT FOR OUR BOY YOOK DEOKJIN! He got those eyes that second male lead syndrome patients go after. We just go for the second male lead, it doesn’t matter who is the male lead we go for the second male lead.

Why you should watch this drama.

The actor playing Liang You Nian is called Lai Kuan Lin. The actress is named Zhao Jin Mai who plays Xia Miao Miao. I really love her acting and some of the sweet moments that are included in this drama. This drama mainly focuses on art and their slow development in love. This isn’t the best drama, but this is super low key and adorable. Sometimes, I can’t grasp the acting of the actors and actresses for some reason. They don’t express the emotions in some scenes but that doesn’t mean it ruins everything, rather they are super adorable and laughable.

I’m really looking forward to other school dramas which could peak my interest. This drama shows us many relationships between humans and many dating skills. Of course, although you may hate some actress because of their character role, you have to forgive them because it is a role after all.

This drama has some familiar faces. Actor Lai Kuan Lin who was in wanna one. Xu Haiqiao who played in The Journey of Flower. Chen Ke Fan who played in Ten miles of peach blossom. These people are very unforgettable to me. They are very unique in these dramas and I really love them for their art and passion.

I enjoy the background stories and some of the conflicts the female lead had to face. Honestly, the rewatch value is very high because I feel very comfortable watching this drama, it helps me relax and honestly let’s me see an eye candy. Kuan Lin is a very handsome and unique man with an amazing aura. He looks like he is smiling but can be planning your murder LMAOOO. Gosh, he really scared me with that glare at Wang Yu Tian when they were painting the trucks for the welfare community.

Illogically yet logical

Some things just don't make sense. How does the power dynamic work? My goodness, sometimes I forget the status quo. It's just weirdly laid out and how could the citizens calmly walk away after seeing an immortal? Is it such a common sight to see?
Didn't the people not believe in demons and immortals? Why is it that after the female lead appears and spread her "wisdom" that the citizens think it's such a normal occurrence? Truly mind-blowing how the writing can be so convincing despite it's plot holes.

Of course after a long time with demons and mysterious ailments, the citizens have gotten use to it. But it's still illogical to go up against a higher power when you are unable to even put up a fight. Has the citizens lost their minds?

Jiang Mo, the black cat was at least 1 thousand years old. Considering their experience in the mortal world, it's illogical that the spirit will reveal itself to their master when being chased. Does the cat think that their mortal master can protect them? If it was truly logical, the cat would go into hiding and lurk around for a better chance to strike. It stayed in the mortal world where it starved and stole food.

Such naive and loyalty should've been influenced negatively but for some reason it wasn't. It's obvious that this character is 2D and not even fully a functional character that can think on its own. It's like the purpose of the character was to shed light on the female lead's past and then thrown in who knows where.

It's so disappointing to see such a good script be ruined with illogical events and character setting.

Why should you watch this drama?

When the episode first begins, it is a bit boring but to see another type/side of Rosie Zhao is really amazing. The first episode basically explains what she is and her current occupation. The second episode is really funny and includes poison, wine, green hats, and glaze plates. I really do recommend watching this even though the main actress is a little off looking with a funny voice. You will begin to love her as you finish this drama. This drama rewatch value is really high because there aren’t really many scenes viewers would hate. The episode that really got my captivated was episode 2 where she acts very funny and eats food like she is searching for poison. The guy also got me sipping for him and finishing intense love. The OST is very catchy and sound absolutely amazing. I really watched this 3 times no skipping episodes. One thing I really hate is the second female lead, Chen Chu Chu. She keeps biting and never let’s go. Although I love her, the acting really got me annoyed. Thank god there was Ryan Ding playing as Han Shou, the main lead.

WHY YOU MUST WATCH IT

Our first obvious reason on why you should watch this show is very simple. It tells the parent's experience and shows the life of two highschool kids who had a child at a young age.

The second reason on why you should watch this show is, it makes you so involved in the plot that it could make you cry and laugh at any moment.

Our third reason is how our ML are both handsome guys. Two guys with one mind! How amazing! They both are good-looking and have very good acting which almost brought me to tears.

The rewatch value is so high because there are so many memorable clips and episodes that just makes you want to rewatch. Especially episode 16 ending, the ending is what we are all expecting!!! Lets cheer for our HONG fammmmmm!!!!!!
