My predictions for contract dating. 1. Hanuel and Jimin. They both picked each other as 2nd picks. However in the prerelease Hanuel says she never would have imagined they would be a contract couple. Chang Hyeong was her first choice and would not be a surprise since they had picked each other multiple times. But Jimin would be a surprise since he had made it clear to her that YeJeon was his only interest. That statement by Hanuel is the game changer for me that shakes up all the speculation. 2. Woojae and Yejeon. Oh I am aware of the huge Jimin fan base, but the truth is that WJ and YJ were each other's first picks for contract dating. Jimin may be able with the first come first stuff get the contract, but again the above statement from Hanuel governs my decision. I know the producers are really shipping a love triangle, and that is the one thing that makes me nervous about this pick. 3. Chang Hyeong and Jimon. She is the bravest person on the show with the most grit. It was a really smart move on her part to have dinner the Doctor. CH is a brilliant guy and I think he knows that Hanuel has eyes for Jimin. He is going to make a major and smart move and pick the best pick among the women. 4. Chang Hyun and Cha Eun. He touched her heart when he came in to take care of her. Most importantly she is old enough.
For me the best catch with the women after watching the first six episodes is Jimon, She is fearless yet gentle. Courageous yet vulnerable. She acts without hesitation. Plus she (as well as the rest) looks great. The best catch among the men is Chang Hyeong. Not only is he brilliant, with a great future, but most importantly he comes across as a true gentleman and a very kind man.
I am enjoying the drama. And please understand I like the leads. However, I can not help but think as I watch, after seeing Love Your Enemy, how great it would have been to have Oh Yeju and Hong Minki cast in this drama as the leads. Like I say no offense meant to the cast.
Just saw the episode and I have to say, and the Jimin shippers won't like it, but he put undue, and in my mind rather offensive pressure on JeYeon. How can people think that last scene was romantic in any way? YeJeon, shy girl that she is, looked so embarrassed! Well I suppose it worked, being a kind person she listed Jimin as one her two choices and lord knows he may be quicker to ask her than Woojae. That him get him the victory of the first contract date with her. But I believe if that is the case, it may be a pyrrhic victory. Onward to episode 8
Don't be fooled by the editing of the producers. They will manipulate this stuff without any hesitation to boost ratings. However in the first prerelease of episode 7 it is definitely Woojae's coat and JeYeon's shoes. Now that little scene has been removed. It really doesn't matter because the producers have this first come first serve rule. We won't know who really YeJeon wanted, only who was the fastest to reach her. After Woojae's poor choice in Episode 3 it is time for the ex soccer player to put on his racing shoes.
Truthfully though this is only episode 7 we have lots left to go. I predict that this week the producers, since they love love triangles will put out a pro WJ video and a pro JM video just like last week. They are going to milk this all they can for the viewership.
But the good news everyone will have a contract date. No matter who goes with who it will be fun viewing
I know that the Jiwon fans somehow think that JeYeong is going to drop Woojae. There is one problem with this theory -- JeYeong always picks Woojae. Folks, the Christmas gift exchange has revealed the truth. She knew what Jiwon's gift was and she knew instantly Woojae's gift. Without hesitation she choose WJ's. More than that, her gift was chosen in the hopes that her date in Italy would be with WJ. And then in episode 5 she not only chooses to text WJ but sends a message that she has no problem with him as a painter -- thereby throwing all the economic hopes for JW out the window. Jiwon shippers, it is time to face facts JeYeong fell for WJ from the moment she saw him. Her feelings for JW is friendship. But her feelings for Woojae is deeper and romantic.
Now let's address this chemistry issue. Who can forget how when she first met Woojae she had to fan herself to cool down her rapidly beating heart. Or lets remember her asking if she can hold his arm. The pictures they took by the Christmas seemed pretty chemistry filled to me. In short, you are in denial if you try to claim they have no chemistry or you are blind.
I will admit one thing. No one knows how this will end up. Maybe JeYeong will move on to another. But it seems to me that Woojae has to either dump her or really screw up on a date. Frankly I don't see that happening. But heck I could be wrong.
I think that folks are really getting ahead of themselves with the job reaction stuff -- especially concerning Woojae and Jeyeon. First off, Woojae has the confidence to ask Jeyeon out ASAP once they arrive in Korea. And she without reservation happily nods yes. Further she dispels any insecurity on his part by telling him she really wanted to see his paintings. My goodness, for all we know, he may make 5 to 10 thousand for every painting. Or he may have his works on prints that make him loads of money. For whatever reason he is anything but a starving artist.
But most importantly Jeyeon fell for him at first sight. He is the one who makes her heart skip. I will never forget the way in episode 1 where she looks at him and begins to fan herself. Sure she had fun with Jimin and they will probably become friends. Yet the truth is that all the romantic tension is with WJ and JY. In fact you can cut it with a knife.
A good title for episode 4 should be, "it's all about the gifts". It was a great move on Woojae part to pick those cards that were pictures of the day he and Je Yeon shared. And she knew it! There was no hesitancy on her part as she reached for his gift. And then her gift was a piece of art in a frame. Another bold action to reveal her feelings. But you don't realize the true drama of the gift giving until latter. Je Yeon knew that JiMin bought his gift in the same art store where she got hers. She knew that the picture in the frame was his gift. She had a clear choice and she choose Woojae. Nothing is certain in these shows, but the best chance of a long lasting relationship is our shy introverts.
From the vibes I am getting Woo Jae must be a successful artist or he comes from a family with strong financial backing. Soccer in Europe and painting are not good choices when one needs a stable income -- unless you have independent means. Further he is class act (alone with the others), a product of a sophisticated and stable upbringing where he has the backing just to jet off to Europe and play soccer and then rather than choosing a financially secure career path decides to become an artist. And you can tell he had no problem in doing that. So as far as social status goes he may be at the top of the pyramid among the couples. Of course I am just guessing. But I don't believe that Je Yeon will have any fears that she needs to be the bread winner if their relationship blooms. Heck, he may have the ability to back her as she establishes her own firm -- hardly a cheap endeavor.
I got to say that at first I was upset with the drama in episodes 23 and 24. But after retrospective, understanding came -- Yi Fan stayed in character. In her life there were two truths. The first is that for years she was alone and came to believe that she had face her life alone. The second is that she loves San Yang and wants to protect him from her issues. The same holds true with her friends. In her wounded heart and mind the best way to protect what she loves is to remove herself from them. Yes, I wish she had moved beyond that response. Yet it takes time to turn your coping with life into a new direction.
That mother is the most despicable, weak, character I have come across in either a kdrama or cdrama. She is obviously guilt ridden yet not willing to do anything about it. What a terrible parent!!
The little romantic details in this are driving me crazy. The new coat, which isn't black. My goodness, them walking in the hall not quite holding hands but just tentatively touching their fingers. My heart melted with the couples bracelets, his with the snowflake, hers with the mulberry leaf. If that isn't enough then we have his gift -- the voice recorder where when she is down or anxious or depressed she can turn it on, if he isn't there and listen to how much he loves her and will never leave. These two are creating their own little world, filled with meaning, where I almost feel guilty that I have the chance, as an outsider, to look in on.
Episode 18: For me the best confession scene I have seen in recent memory! So in sink with their personalities and characters. After that scene, it is my opinion that even though Hidden Love was a wonderful drama, First Frost is even better! It deserves to be above a 9 on this platform.
Episode one delivered the best romcom line I have heard in a long time: "Mom, my heart is beating out of my chest." Mom replies, "Why? Your chest is flat." I am still laughing.
OK, once again, I like the story. Heck, I like the characters. But after 4 episodes the MC have not uttered one word to each other. With that in mind, I will watch, with anticipation, the next two episodes, but if they don't meet after 6 episodes, I am going to drop this until all episodes are out and then watch.
I like this drama, Many of the scenes are deeply moving. However, and it is a big however, the main couple really have to start communicating together. Maybe we can begin with a text, an e-mail, a chance meeting -- something. To be concise, they need to meet.
