On Love Like the Galaxy: Part 1 Jul 22, 2022
I honestly and don't much care if the proposal scene is a Hollywood moment because dang... it is great television. Who cares about historical accuracy when you can have the smartest man in the room taking the opposition down using his clout with the emperor in one fell swoop.
It's a moment to bask in.

Yes! And I loved how LBY said he would marry no other, so I'm sure the emperor was especially anxious to pair…
Without a doubt!

There still good girls as Qi Qi and even YY not that bad 🤣
I wasn't referring to them because they were never ever prospects. But the princesses were. Besides Qiqi is not as intelligent, even more reckless and Yangyang is too passive. :D

Looking at all the whiny quarrelsome women in the palace fixated with their petty grievances, it's no wonder Zisheng refuses to marry any of them. What a nightmare! Yeah, I can see why he says Niaoniao is the best woman in the city. There's not a whole lot of competition to be frank.

What a great ally the emperor is in the course of true love... LOL. All jokes aside, I think he is just so unbelievably relieved that someone has finally caught Zisheng's eye. I loved the way he told Niaoniao not to look at her parents and give her opinion.
The emperor is a naggy dad and mum all rolled into one.

I don't despise Min-woo for having an unpopular opinion and one that goes against current orthodoxy, I dislike him for not having the courage of his convictions. In front of Su-yeong he claims the moral high ground with so much angst and yet he doesn't even put his money where his mouth is. If he believes that his position is the right and he is on the side of angels, then he should go to his employers directly rather than do things sneakily behind their backs. It's a case of cutting off his nose to spite his face. What does he think he's going to achieve with this? Take the company down with him?

It makes me wonder if he really believes what he's saying or he's just letting off steam because he feels powerless in that situation because he's now framing himself as the victim in all of this.

This is my biggest problem with Min-woo. It's not his bias per se. It's his propensity to jump the gun with the scantest of details. He assumes and acts on his assumptions without making any attempt to get to the bottom of things. He did it with the women and Jun-ho and he's doing it again here. I don't know why he's even a lawyer if he doesn't understand the most fundamental thing about verification. He thinks he knows exactly what's going when he hasn't got a clue.

"Disappointing" is... not good translation. "섭섭하다" means maybe between Disappointing and Sorry.
I have a background in applied linguistics and I'm really interested in your comment. I was curious and looked up the Chinese subs. They used the word 失落 which could mean disappointed among other things. It is part of the lexical range.

But I was also wondering if that lexical item could be translated, "What a shame"?

Yeah, she's doing all the heavy lifting.

I'm definitely on your side of the fence. A'Yao is as uninspiring a candidate as they come.
I'm not against what she did but I'm just saying that Niaoniao should have realised that after that display , there would be no way that Tutor Lou would allow the marriage to go ahead. So the fact that they're trying to persuade He Zhaojun to change her mind is somewhat redundant.

you mean the cancel of the engagement?
I suppose so. I can't see how Tutor Lou would approve.

I know many are excited to see this engagement end, but, of the three suitors, if CSS could have married LY and…
I think you're idealizing her life with A'Yao too much.
First of all him becoming an respectable official is rather unlikely. He's really a rather uninspiring character who can't even read the room. Compared to his far superior older brother, he's like a little lost puppy wandering from room to room. He doesn't even understand the implications of everything Ling Buyi has done for Niaoniao. I doubt in the long run an intelligent energetic woman like her will be happy with a dull lad like this. Right now he is no more than a glorified maid.

I think English subs on Viki are better than tencent. It’s easier to follow/understand. And the choice of words…
Always.

I think the wait is hard for a lot of people.
