On Again My Life Jun 3, 2022
This series does remind me of Doctor Prisoner. I get a kick out of these elaborate revenge fantasy K dramas and this one was a blast with a nice bit of political theatre at the end. This one certainly has more of a cartoony feel than some others. At the end of the day Hee-woo "won" because he had built up a really great network of friends, not just allies, who were willing to go to bat for him. Even Director Han commented on that. He bent over backwards for these people and they were loyal to the end. The truth is Cho Tae-sub treated people like rubbish and this kind of tenuous political expediency has limits. The fact that he was left alone standing in the dark at the end was telling. People matter as the old chairman of Chunha said. Sure he built his machinery and it was ticking nicely but as soons as someone threw a spanner in the works, the cracks appeared.

Hee-woo failed in the original timeline not only because he not as prepared but also because he didn't have a reliable support base.

Well... in classic comic book fashion, the battle between good and evil continues. Looking forward to another season of Kim Hee-woo larking about in the National Assembly.

This is definitely a show better binge-watched.

Not especially.Watch the first one. It's the best. The second best one is the third one -- Medical Examiner Dr…
It's the opposite for me. I really disliked the FL in Silent Evidence especially in the first half. The romance was so horribly tropey and eye-rolling. The actual cases were okay. But the way she was written... just to be adversarial for its own sake... drove me up the wall.
Zhang Yujian is a decent actor but I didn't think that Qin Ming needed any kind of romance. None of them really do TBH.

Ever watch Justified? There are lots of whacked out crazy ass white trash drug lords just like him. And they also…
I think I lost track of where the bodies were buried or how many.

I won't trust MDL ratings ever again.I started watching some high rated dramas and dropped almost all of of them…
It's nice seeing more comments like this because some people who use the site think that MDL is a space only for people who have good things to say about a particular drama. It is worrying that users see the ratings as a popularity marker.

At the end of the day, it diminishes the ratings system.

This was a really decent watch and there were some great moments in this. My favourite arcs were the ones about the country's history: the stories about the Korean War vet and the "comfort women" were really emotionally powerful and had me in tears. Of course the story about the twins got me hot under the collar. It's a fantasy show that puts the spotlight on contemporary social problems in SK and so I don't think it makes claims to be realistic in its depiction of suicide counselling. I should add too that the Grim Reapers' backstories were pretty good (although I think Mystic Pop-up Bar did a better job of letting that unfold) especially that between Ryeon and Jung-gil.

I liked this much more than Move to Heaven. The pacing here was just about right.

I am fine with the ending as it fits with the style and tone of the show. Life goes on as it does for the living trying to weigh up all kinds of decisions continuously. To leave or to stay? To come or to go? In all cases, character is destiny. I was worried about Gu because the big fight came so late in the story but him learning to count his blessings gave me reason to believe that he'd made a key step in the right direction.

For me I feel differently about Tae-hun because I feel that he is trapped by both love and obligation. Having Gi-jeong in his life is a reprieve from his family baggage. I think she understands that too. He can't jettison his sisters from his life because that would be ingratitude but like all of us he craves for something else his current living arrangements can't give him. He's a man too. Who knew?

Most of all, I love how the supernatural and the spiritual are integrated into the bigger picture. It was providential that Chang-hee ended up in that room finding his true calling. But it had to be the right time -- after he had gone through a series of experiences to get to where he has to be in the end.

If this show doesn't turn Son Suk-ku into a star, I don't know what will.
Everyone did well but there was something about the way he inhabited that role -- he really made it his own.
Moral of the Story: Liberation is a journey not a destination.

I do not know why people keep comparing this to Flower of Evil. They are quite different. If you check the genre…
The only similarity between the two shows is Lee Joon-gi.
Personally i found FoE really silly towards the end.

Wow... this is definitely the worst version. Without a doubt. There's completely no understanding of what made the others good. (The C version was good until the last act). 10 half hour episodes was never going to cut it.

It's not bad. Not exactly groundbreaking stuff but the different character dynamics are interesting enough. At least every episode is an improvement on the last.
