At times he was, but still on the short side, which takes away from a strong & imposing presence, and the way the clothes fit on him sometimes doesn't look as good.
From what I have seen, Tan Jianci can have a delicacy & softeness to his acting ( which is great for certain characters or scenes etc).
I just imagined someone like Deng Wei, Wang Duo, Liu Xueyi, and some others.
He will probably do pretty well though.
