Can someone explain Dylan's comment from the fan meeting where he said that only in the end does DFQC say "我回来了"…
Think of it like "I" vs the Royal "We". Your identity doesn't change, rather the intent, intimacy and authority of the statement does.
Think about how differently it is if the Queen were to say "We are not amused." vs. "I am not amused." One makes you sit up the way you do when your mother says your full name (including your middle name). The other allows you to sink into a more private discussion between friends.
DFQC is very subconsciously aware (if you can say that) of his personal pronoun use. And it is very interesting to see how that fluctuates in his relationship with Xu Feng and Xiao Lan Hua. He also adapts when they are in the mortal realm - after all he is not the Emperor, but still needs to convey his authority.
One of the most intimate moments in the show for me comes when he and Xiao Lan Hua are arguing (like an old married couple) about their respective mortal intendeds having crushes on them. While they are arguing, he uses the personal pronoun "Wǒ".
(**Another glossed over intimate detail is in episode 18, when Xiao Lan Hua is the first person EVER to stand on DFQC's direct right.**)
I really need someone to stitch together all the adorable BTS, variety show appearances and interview interactions they have into a mega 20 minute clip and that will be my energy boost in the mornings.
Someone out there who is good with editing, you are officially commissioned. Make it happen!
Oh! Here we go again. Other fans are degrading actresses they don't find "suitable" for their "idol". Come on,…
As a long-time fan of WHD I actually find this attitude ironic, considering how public opinion of him just swayed dramatically based on his performance in a single drama. Almost no one appreciated him until LBFaD was released. So, to see this same attitude being applied to his co-star is humorous. Hopefully he will be able to support her and offer some advice for how he dealt with the public's negativity.
6 Episodes in and it's very...unique?An ambitious and bizarre schizophrenic chimera. It is a Xianxia set in the…
• There is initially some gender reversal (as in the man is the "wife", the woman is the "husband" - I do not mean a body swap. Not sure if that will continue throughout the series). • It is incredibly odd to see suits, pistols and a camera in a xianxia. • My brain can’t wrap around seeing demons in a mountain bandit stronghold. • There are also rather odd comedy aspects, such as the chieftainess's main husband being a rooster and apparently one of the characters changes gender when he drinks after being wounded by a certain demon. • There is a rather flamboyant tailor who is very obviously supposed to be the “gay hairdresser confidante” who rocks the steampunk vibe sartorially and uses his silkworm demonic toxin to…extract fat and make people skinny? • There is a demonic toxin administered by camera flash that ages and kills people.
Let's just say the aesthetic has yet to coalesce: • The eyewear is distinctly Republican era. • The FL looks what I would imagine a Victorian woman “cowboy” to look like. • The 2ML looks like he fell out of the 90’s with an incredibly modern haircut and his leather jacket. • The ML is 100% Republican Era. • I have no comment on the cohesiveness the styling choices of the set.
Basically, I really don't know what is happening and am giving it another half a dozen episodes to settle into itself.
An ambitious and bizarre schizophrenic chimera. It is a Xianxia set in the Republican era about a mountain bandit chieftainess of a stronghold (go ahead, take a moment to wrap your head around that mish-mash of three separate genres for a moment).
(When the character starts doing your job of snarky out of context summaries for you)
He just takes off the cape and declares, "Yes, this will work for the livestream."
