I just want to take a moment to appreciate WHD's voice actor. WHD is brilliant and I want to call out one scene in particular where he was already delivering 110%, but DFQC's breathing patterns took it to 120%.
The second smile tutorial. As a stand-alone scene it was a phenomenal showcase of Dylan's acting (much like being emotionally drugged in Episode 14). I don't think I have ever seen anyone look homesick for someone else before. The scene in no way needed anything else, but the way the voice actor used his breath here added yet another layer to the vulnerability.
I feel like I need to rewatch all the episodes with Jieli, one comment she said made me feel like she might be…
I remember reading a Harry Potter fan theory somewhere that all of Ron Weasley's made-up horoscopes for Divination homework technically came true. This is pretty much how I am side-eyeing Jieli at the moment - I'm not sure how much credence I give this theory, but it intrigues me. She is hard to get a read on. She has so many competing "loyalties". I want to believe what she will choose in the future, but she is very much "in flux" at the moment.
She is also one of the top two current contenders for betraying someone (between her and Xufeng). Yet, given this drama's tendency to subvert my expectations, one would not be out of line to say the betrayal will come from elsewhere.

When she said "When I look at jewelry, I feel refreshed." It was such a specific phrasing.
I was like - okay we have 5 very important pieces of jewelry thus far. One protects, one conceals, one shields, one brings death and the last one suppresses. None of these are refreshing/rejuvenating. Will there be another piece of jewelry in play?
I am not putting the same weight behind this that I do my commentary on the symbolism of the director's choice in blocking or DFQC's/XLN's communication or any other theories or commentaries I have made. This one is more just a tickling at the penumbra of my thoughts.
Why not! Looks cool! He's an actor, sure he can work with anyone 🥰
MDR, I loved her in The Legendary Life of Queen Lau. I was just being a brat and retaliating with the above clip of him and Esther doing the same scene.
