I'm just really skeptical about how/where this will be filmed. Is most of it in space, with them floating around in spacecraft? I just can't picture that sticking the landing... 16 Episodes set in SPACE? There's no way, unless they make this 100% sci fi and have made-up technology and a gravity switch. Even then, I can't see how they'd make this a convincing drama... π§
The synopsis does not help, either.
In theory, I am excited to see Min Ho's next project, but I'll give this one some time to air before I venture over to see how it's working out. π
You forgot to add the favorite shtick about how the ML is a pure virgin and so indulges the female users fantasies.…
Haha, yes! That's why I couldn't help saying it. π«’ This user reminds me of @mooc and says similar things to him; that was always his favorite line to harp.
Unfortunately, I don't bother blocking them because I use the app and I'll see their posts regardless. Usually the contrarians show up after it's done airing, but you're right, so far, this page has been pretty free of them for the most part!
This drama is also so unrealistic that people can't but see how any comparison to reality is a bit of a stretch anyway. π This reminds me a lot of the feel the K2 gave when I was watching it.
No matter how much I like a drama, I would never wish success for a misogynistic man. Itβs disappointing to…

Also, if people only watched media with actors/musicians/entertainers who were good, upstanding, moral people, there would be no media to engage. No matter how you slice it, no matter how successful agencies are at making their actors/singers/celebrities look like good people, I always assume they're nothing like their image. A bunch of teenage boys I know were completely shocked to see a leaked list of their favorites celebrities and rappers exposed for being at parties that engaged in elicit, illegal activities with trafficked women. I was like, "Um, guys, why are you shocked? These are celebrities we're talking about."
For the majority of people, this equation checks out (cause who cares about integrity these days? π€·ββοΈ All you need to do is LOOK like you have it.): lots of fame + lots of money = poor life choices, even if they're mostly secret life choices that most people will never know about because they are carefully hidden. So, to me, in order for someone to be consistent (if they're going to follow your logic) they shouldn't be engaging any media. πββοΈ Either watch none of it or just accept that the image of people you're seeing on-screen AND off-screen is always a man-made facade that, when stripped away, will expose broken humans in varying degrees of badness in their beliefs, perspectives and lifestyles.
Sometimes the facade slips for our beloved celebrities giving us a bad taste in our mouths, but that's not exposing exceptions, it's exposing the rule.
She will be better, but She has a few screen time, this is about the journey of MLβ¦ so donβt mind FL
I'm used to seeing Emperors/Kings manipulated by the schemes of their advisors and ministers, as opposed to the Emperor as principal schemer. π It's definitely a unique dynamic, don't you think? I've had the impression Chen Ping Ping is also a schemer but I still haven't encountered him since the 1st Episode (I'm not as far as you), as only his name has come up. And what on earth happened to the ML's blind friend? He totally could have helped save Teng Zijing. π€¨
People think it's unrealistic because the main villain wants to only hurt the feelings of the person he (mistakenly)…
Kdramas have a lack of realism in their essence (there will be a spectrum, of course, but they are definitely ALL unrealistic in some way; the more makjang it leans the more unrealistic it becomes). That's why the original dramas that Netflix tries to do that are more "gritty" and "serious," "dark" and "realistic" don't feel like Kdramas to me; they're just Netflix shows cast with Korean actors set in Korea.
Kdramas are a genre all their own. And I like them that way. π
Right? They could have cut out so many filler scenes with the boring adults! π I skipped most of their parts…
Yeah, I think 16 episodes was super doable. I did eventually like the ML, but he was a pill for the first 2/3s of the drama, for sure. This show had a lot of flaws, and yet somehow I still liked it! π
Yes right, I was waiting for this drama to complete so I can binge watch it. But after seeing so many bad reviews…
Yeah, if you're not getting into it after the first two episodes, then it might not be your thing. The first two episodes will set the tone, but my favorite Episodes were 8 and 16. π
Right? They could have cut out so many filler scenes with the boring adults! π I skipped most of their parts on a rewatch and felt like I missed almost nothing important.
kang dongjoo is such a stubborn brat but he's growing on me. plus I find his character is the most relatable.…
Season 2 is even better in my opinion (because Kang Dong Joo does take SO long to become likeable in Season 1), and it lands best if you've seen Season 1 beforehand. I did miss the original couple/leads just a tad when I started, but I think there's more to like in Season 2 overall. :) By the time I finished Season 2, it surpassed by quite a bit for me. It also didn't drag as much near the end, as the pacing was near perfect. Strong from start to finish!
Nothing is romantic in this show tbh. It's like a fantasy world of Paramedics defying ethics & internal power…
Oh? π€ I beg to differ. It's not the main plot, but it's definitely in here. The main leads have one of my favorite scenes in a romantic Kdrama ever. I think it's iconically adorable and the delivery is perfect. They feel like a real, bickering couple absolutely in love.
And don't watch this if you don't want to be SPOILED:
I went to find the episode and time stamp the scene when I discovered Viki no longer has either season available. π±πππ
P.S. And if you meant that the title is misleading, I've always considered it a poor translation into English. To quote another, it seems to mean something more like "an idealistic feeling/state of mind."
worst kdrama lee sung kyeong was terrible ahn hyo seop was great though..β€οΈ
Oh, I loved Sung Kyung in this! Her character didn't start out well, but I thought she (the actress) did great! If anything, I think this is the only drama Ahn Hyo Seop was truly convincing in; I love him and his characters in other dramas, but I personally think this is his best piece of acting work to date...
As in old or as in the same sort of trope of alternate government (monarchy instead of a democracy) or same type of MLs?
Here are a few recs that might cover some of the bases:
Older dramas, with similar type of ML who has a jerk personality but grows/improves: King2Hearts (also a monarchy in Korea with the ML as a prince (the sister of the prince in Goong is played by the same actress as the sister of the prince in King2Hearts, too, interestingly!); probably the most like Goong but with older, more "mature" leads and themes with a North Korea/South Korea plot), Boys Over Flowers, Heirs and Secret Garden (though be warned, the ML does not improve until near the last few episodes). (Oh, and I haven't really seen it fully, but Playful Kiss; may be the most toxic of the MLs in any of these I listed π ).
Dramas with a cozy, old drama feel, but different type of ML: Coffee Prince (same actress as this drama's FL; this one's actually kind of edgy for an older drama), Fated To Love You (the ML has a maniacal laugh but it's a super charming drama!), Hogoo's Love, School 2013 (not a romance, but a classic older drama with a cozy feel and the first of the "School" dramas), Dream High and maybe-sort-of Sassy Go Go.
The synopsis does not help, either.
