Title The Rise of Phoenixes Spoiler
This was a terrific watch. I love historical political dramas and this one is up there with some of the best! I dont really mind the sad ending. My only gripe is the promise of a romance arc which was barely explored. Why are ppl scared of romance πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ??? ...otherwise it would have been a 10 from me!

Yes it's a mess because the screenwriter made many mistakes I won't recap once more, but one of the bigger one…
Your problem is with trying to apply logic where its not needed and failing to apply it where its actually needed. Also, writing too much does not equate to making sense. Its amazing how you managed to watch an entire drama of what you call endless nonsense. Based on what you said, if it were me I wouldn't have gone past 5th episode. You keep telling me that I dont understand when I have tried to give the best explanation to situations you keep saying were 'not logical' If you understood the time paradox then you wouldn't try to rewrite Kim EunSuk's story. If you were a level headed person you would accept it as 'difference of opinion' rather than 'plot holes or sweeping under the rug'. I actually cant be bothered at this point whether you understand me or not and probably wont have time to read through your paragraphs in the future πŸ‘‹

I should also mention that when Lee Gon travelled back into time and there were things you expected to happen but didnt...well, its called time paradox for a reason. I'm sure you know its a concept that is associated with time travel and Kim Eun suk is not exempt from it either. Even if you write a drama yourself you'll still be bound by it.

I just think this drama was not your cup of tea tbh. You try too much to reason out what is essentially a fantasy world created by this writer and then you end up wanting to rewrite the story to suit yourself. I also wasn't a big fun of the ending but that doesn't nullify the effort that was put in the first 90% of the drama. Also, you sound very insulting by insinuating that those who liked the drama were not paying attention to the drama....like wtf??? You're the one who did not understand some of the simplest and most straightforward scenesπŸ€”. Perhaps just write your own script and we'll see how accommodating of all audiences you are. Btw, I am not a fan of Back to the future, just not my cup of tea! But I agree to disagree and acknowledge that some people will like it even if I dont. You need to practice that sometime.

What exactly was the problem here? This is crossing into a parallel universe made possible by being in possession of the manpasikjoek....something that cant be explained by physical laws wecan understand at present...I mean, it is a fantasy after all. They later on showed this space between the 2 worlds that Lee Gon dubbed the 'space between 0 and 1'. Point being he didn't understand it as well and hence something for you the audience to fill in with whatever reasoning you imagine that to be. It was basically happening by 'magic' pretty much so there was in reality not much logic to it.

Also, the going back and forth between scenes was actually refreshing. It would only take a minute to realise that, oh this is meant to be a previous scene...it actually made it even more exciting! I absolutely loved the brain workout, not a lot of dramas do that. I enjoy being an active watcher! On another note, have you watched Lee je hoon and Shin Min Ah's Tomorrow with you?? If so, did you enjoy it?

I never said anything about 'attack ing fans' but about attacking the writer. You said her script had mistakes and the scenes you mentioned I'm actually wondering why that was confusing. Lee Gon had clearly told Tae Eul that he was taking her to his world...when they left her world it was snowing and when they arrived to his world it wasnt snowing anymore. Such an abrupt change in weather could only imply that this was certainly another dimension. Showing us how they got there at that point was kind of unnecessary. The writer wasn't ready to show us 'how' they got there at the time but it was certainly obvious because of those subtle hints. I'm pretty sure the rest of your analysis has to do with subtle hints that would be 'obvious' to other people. Hence why I'll reiterate my point....you jist didn't understand the story. And its not a crime you know. Just dont bash her script when most of us understood it. If she had gone about stating the obvious then the drama would not have generated a lot of intrigue to those of us who were enjoying it. You'll have to mention another scene perhaps because doesn't make the cut. To me, it was actually one of the best defining moments of the drama imao

Aren't you proving my point then thats its probably not the kind of plot some people understand 🀷. What you call 'uselessly confusing', I call it 'intricately weaving a mystery plot' and waiting patiently to see how the writer unfolds it and ties it all up in the end! Dont attack the writer because some of us understood exactly what she was doing. Whether it was her first time or not was actually irrelevant here. Was it done 100%, maybe not...but I would rather watch this than some dramas full of relationship misunderstandings and pointless plots. FYI, TKEM did very well on Netflix due to international viewers made $135 million+ ✌️

Havent gotten over Chang wook's 'gwenchana!!!gwenchana!!' 🀣🀣🀣🀣. One of the best korean web dramas on netflix. Mature storyline without weird love rectangles! Refreshing drama concept! If you're looking for something newish in kdrama in the romance and relationships genre then you have to watch this! Has some of the best OSTs esp Kiss me kiss me by Isaac Hong

People who call this a mess just didnt understand it or at least its not your type of genre . You might want to feel offended but we all cant enjoy the same things....we're all wired differently! But to call this a mess???? Nah, you'd have to do better than that. Most people who say its a mess seem not to have gone past episode 2! And no, did not know who Lee Min Ho was prior to watching it and that was the case for many international viewers who probably just stumbled upon it on Netflix.

Title Grand Prince
This drama has actually the best romance of all historical sagueks I've seen. It seems most people dont recognise love driven by sincere intentions coupled with the innocence of youth, the kind that transcends physical intimacy (still glad there were plenty of make out scenes πŸ’‹πŸ’‹πŸ’‹). The lead characters actually had great chemistry and made their connection very believable. They bonded over mutual interests that would make their love last a lifetime....literally 'drawing love' how poetic πŸ’—. This is how to FALL in love and STAY in love people!
The palace politics was an added bonus...all my favourite genres rolled into one πŸ‘Œ. Could it have been done in fewer episodes??? Yes! Was it a disaster?? No way! This was a well written drama by people who have actually experienced love and know what a 'romance' story is all about. Have been disappointed too many times by shows that claim to have romance because there is like 1 kissing scene in ep. 16 smh

This is probably one of the most frustrating sageuks I ever watched in terms of the storyline. If it wasn’t for Lee Dong Gun's acting prowess I would have dropped it. FL's character was just too naive and too frustrating, no wonder she only lasted for 7 days....her personality was just not meant to survive in the palace imao! Thats not to say she was a bad person, she was too 'good' the type that becomes a monk perhaps...just not a queen. The writers should have been more creative to make her story more enjoyable to watch.

People pretending to be woke while watching this drama from almost a decade ago are annoying. Its like watching The bold and the beautiful then judging Americans based off of that show or Baywatch for that matter. People need to stop demanding from show creators what they cant create themselves. Here Eun Suk was just showing her version of financial disparity which most people do not have to experience as its difficult to cross classes in most cultures. I applaud the cast and director for understanding the assignment πŸ‘. Also, whilst we dont like bullying, we cant pretend it doesn't exist and we should not crucify Kim Eun Suk for bringing awareness to it in an upper class Korean context (also its quite well known how spoilt chaebols can be). I, for one, was thoroughly entertained by this high school drama πŸ’―

This has to be the most inspirational sageuk I have ever watched! What do you do if you're an idealist and a dreamer living in a harsh and cruel world??? You surround yourself with dreamers like you! Tired of watching heartbreaking sageuks all the time even though you love them and want something different just for once, then you have come to the right place! Jing Il woo was perfect for the role. Loved Pak Mun su and Dal moon! Absolutely loved this one ❀️ πŸ’―

Title Memories of the Alhambra Spoiler
This was a really well done high quality production with stunning visuals. The whole game thing felt too real I would feel a chill down my spine whenever that thunder and Emma's guitar would play you knew what was about to go down. I felt exhausted for him trying to play and finish the game wth πŸ˜¬πŸ˜…. His secretary got me crying so hard 😭.
On another note, there was a missed opportunity with Park Shin Hye. They didn't make her do anything πŸ˜” except to just sit there and look pretty. The romance was a bit awkward, if they had made it satisfactory or skipped it altogether this would have been one of the best kdramas of 2018! I know it still did well when it aired though.

Its very rare to get a drama which blends romance and other genres really well like they did here. I happen to…
And the pertinent qn: would you want to time travel and know what your future looks like? Yes you may be able to get rich and buy items that are not yet released, but you may not enjoy these material things and live in the present because you have seen the day you die and now all you do is spend your days trying to prevent it!

Its very rare to get a drama which blends romance and other genres really well like they did here. I happen to enjoy time travel and romance if done well and its a 10 from me! I appreciate it when writers do not insult our intelligence and bring up real life issues that a couple who married without knowing anything about each other might face. Romance atmosphere was not cheesy which matched the serious time travel concept. The couple had excellent chemistry and gave us some of the best kissing and skinship scenes you'll ever see in all of kdrama land. Perhaps the only drama that could rival it could be Something in the rain (in terms of kissing and skinship). The time travel makes you pay attention to the story as you may get easily confused if you miss a minute of watching. If you cant do that then best not to watch. I love it when a drama gives you a bit of a brain workout and thats why I also love The King: Eternal Monarch. And they were both written by women, go figure!

This show will always have a special place in my ❀. It was my 2nd Kdrama and it did not dissapoint! The first half of the 1st ep was a bit hard to watch since I was still getting used to korean names and all the characters that were being introduced. By the end of that episode I was hooked. The parallel universe concept was refreshing to watch, at least their interpretation. I soon realised I need to pay close attention to every detail so watching on my phone made it easier to read the subtitles whilst watching what was going on. Believe me it makes a lot of difference than trying to watch on a big screen tv as your eyes have to do a lot of acrobatics just to keep up. Even though the romance arc wasnt fully developed, the exciting and suspenseful plot made up for its shortcomings. Now, after watching abt a 100 dramas (k and c), I still appreciate this show and how good the storyline was. There tends to be many shows that are overrated and do not even possess 10% of the intelligence of this script. I also still listen to the OST esp Heartbreak. Awesome effort πŸ‘Œ

Title Yumi's Cells Spoiler
This drama was utter BRILLIANCE!!!! It was the most relatable thing I have ever watched and kudos to the writer and those who adapted for the screen, the cast and not forgetting the cells voice actors who were the stars of this amazing show! I doubt you'll find anything similar in kdrama land. Yes, its Yumi going about her usual daily routines but the cells make it extra special by showing us exactly what going on in her inner world 🌎 and it was hilarious πŸ˜‚ . Perhaps I relate to Yumi too much idk. To people who didn't like the ending I wonder if you were paying attention to what was transpiring as their relationship progressed. Yes nobody is perfect and they were both good people individually but lack of communication kills even the strongest of relationships. This leads people to try and fill in the gaps through making assumptions which of course may be wrong but thats just life. Not every relationship will turn out the way you want, and you'll need to just learn from it and move on. I particularly disliked the fact that Wung was only seeing Yumi as a burden and justifying not marrying her because he didn't have money or his business wasn't taking off.
Yumi was independent and able to look after herself financially though. I do appreciate Wung thought that he was being responsible but to Yumi he just came off as lacking faith that the 2 can be together and will be able to overcome any future adversities together. I wouldn't want to be with someone who didn't believe that despite life's uncertainties you are a worthy partner who will always be there through challenges and difficulties and able to offer support to your significant other. Again, I'm sure Wung had his reasons but how would Yumi know if he doesnt tell her?????I believe thats the whole point of this show anyway......'cant always know what someone else is thinking'.I actually cant wait for Yumi's next relationship ❀❀❀
