If you know anything about cults you'll appreciate how well done this show is 👏👏. Honestly that Church felt so real and the prowess of the actors made you hate them in real life, like for a moment I forgot they were actors. It was as though there were hidden cameras and they weren't just acting. Yes it'll be a headache to watch but there's just no sugar-coating with cults, thats why they're horrible! Putting yourself in the victims' shoes can go a long way in understanding this drama.
Its not a happy ending, but you dont watch this just for the ending. I also mostly prefer happy endings myself but I actually don't really hate the sad ending here. I forgave the writers because the entire drama itself is well worth watching. It is a MASTERPIECE
Ok, where do I begin? Firstly, it was a decent and watchable series. It was a little different from its predecessor, not in a bad way though. Pingzhang was the brother who almost reminded us Mei Chang Su and that we were watching the sequel to NIF1. I was most frustrated with Pingjing as he was outshone by not just Pingzhang who only lasted half the show, other side characters did too! The general who appeared later on in the show outshone him, even Yuan Qi the villian had a better storyline. He was given the slowest character growth and at some point I wanted to give up as nothing was happening with his character. The boy took almost 28 ep to grow up! That said, FL Lin Xi had it worse....the lady probably had the fewest lines of any FL I have ever seen, we knew the 2 of them were going to be together and given that both of them had nothing much going at some points in the show, developing their romance arc would have made the show more interesting I would say.
Omg! Cant believe its the same actress who played QiQi in LLTG, she was the ONLY female character I liked! And my God I hated her in Nothing but Thirty. Just shows what a great actress she is 👏👏👏
It took 27 episodes for the couple to get together....but their relationship is discovered within like 10 mins, hate it when writers do this aaarrgh!!! I keep watching because its one of the less annoying modern cdramas out there...but my God does it drag. There were just too many repetitive scenes to do with the office and the car business I feel like I could get a job if I interviewed for one in the same field 😅. Dylan's character was also outshone for far too many episodes!! I just wanted Mr Xu to go away but he might as well have been ML judging by the number of episodes he was in. Anyway, since I'm still watching it probably means it ain't so bad 🤷♀️
This drama has its bad sides but the good definitely outweighs the bad. Watch this for the high production value, the costumes and the battle scenes because they were epic! ZYW as the general nailed his role! Empress also nailed hers even though I despised her 😅. FL's father was a bit complicated, one minute you love him then the next you hate him....you're really forced to try and understand some of his actions! The chemistry between the leads was off the charts...of course would have wanted more time for them together onscreen but its really a minor complaint as you still get to feel their closeness even if they aren't together. All in all, if you like politics and majestic battle scenes with a great romance thrown in there then I would advise you to watch as not many cdramas fulfill this. Also, if you're a fan of General and I despite its shortcomings then you'll absolutely love this.
I can't believe I ignored watching this because I was so mad at LLTG and the disappointment it turned out to be.....hopefully I'm not speaking too soon though...2 episodes in and I'm hooked!
Who in the world dubs Yang Yang's voice??? And I hate the voice they used....they used that in The Sword and brocade to dub Wallace Chung as well like why? Aaaarrgghh!!!

Omg I laughed at your comment because I also remember being angry after attempting to watch it and could not stand the FL's character as well. Since then I have learnt to be really picky with cdramas that I watch. Needless to say the ones worth watching are still few and far between. Good luck. I will never forget Shin Rin Ah's performance in this! She was just such an adorable munchkin and what a great actress at only 7 years of age. Very natural and appropriate, loved how she was protective of mum and suspicious of ahjussi initially and rightfully so....but when they started getting along oh my heart couldn take it...adorableness overload ❤️❤️❤️ The chemistry between the 3 leads was phenomenal!
Drama too juvenile and irritating I could not finish it. Too bad I like the leads but not here. Concur with other comments on the stupidity of the FL. Love at night was at least bearable.
Is there a rulebook in cdrama that says the ML has to be a perfect saint and FL the unreasonable one all the time??? The drama is really good, but this huge flaw is totally unfair on FL. I hear it'll get better but its so unfair its taking so many episodes to get there. I hope this torture will be worth something so I'll keep on watching for now. I have to say though that Steven Zhang outdid himself in this one, what a great actor 👏 Finally finished it and I have to say it does get better! The script was excellent and quite mature, not many cdramas are like this. It also follows logic and I have say it seems very underrated and deserves more than 8.5

Ep 16 when she confesses to him was one of the most intimate scenes I've seen in c drama ❤️. She says that when it comes to him she doesn't want to look at him from afar , she is selfish...she wants to be able to get close to him, touch him and hug him🫂 dear Lord my 💙 😭🔥
When a show accomplishes what it sets out to do I cant help but give it a 10! Modern c dramas that are watchable without skipping or dropping altogether are really hard to come by, but this one left me wanting more. After Eternal love series I didnt think Liang Jie and Xing Zhao Lin's chemistry could be beaten but I was dead wrong. Steven gives 'Cheng Cheng' a run for his money imao! They're are indeed all excellent actors and will be on the lookout for their future projects (and past 😁).
