The actor delivered that retelling well inline with his character's personality. The Shawn character is afflicted by anti-social personality disorder-- those people can relay slaughtering thousands and the expression on their faces wouldn't change nor would their voices reveal any emotional disturbance. It'll be like them talking about brushing a piece of lint off their sleeve.

Editing a show during its initial airing is very common. Simply omitting scenes and, instead, leaving only voice overs is easy. Also, regarding viewers voicing their displeasure with the inclusion of AI imagery, this hasn't only been occurring on the MDL platform-- it's on every single platform. I'm not one of the viewers who took to the sites to complain, but to claim the voices of thousands hasn't had an impact would be inane, as it clearly has; since midway through the run of the series, those AI scenes were cut back drastically and the ones that remained were only external scenes, which most viewers wouldn't notice were entirely AI generated.

I preferred the younger version and ended up dropping the series, midway through episode 7, because I couldn't tolerate the adult leads.

@gnabnahc was referring specifically to the music and songs being used in the series. They're good enough to pass as real works, but they've been generated by computer programs.

Um... he first appeared in episode 3, during the conference, as the CEO of Feros Group, which is a rival corporation to Vincent's corporation. He then appeared again in episode 4, in Fei Foon's favorite restaurant. He introduced himself as Shawn, because Fei Foon hadn't recognized him--the last time Fei Foon saw him, he was a little boy who Fei Foon had rescued when his father was severely beating him. Shawn considers Fei Foon the person who saved his life, and in that scene, it was evident that Shawn had deeper feelings for Fei Foon.

MY THEORY ABOUT THE MUCH SHORTER EPISODES
I have a feeling that they're editing out moments, within the body of the episode, that have AI. The audience has been up-in-arms about its usage, so where they can avoid it, I think they're removing those scenes, which is significantly shortening the episodes.

At least, that's my theory. Take it with a grain of salt.

Yes, she is suffering. One can waste their life in an unrequited love bond, and were I to have a friend in that situation, I would advise them to cut their losses; but, I would be advising, not expecting that they'd listen to me, because love isn't cut and dry.

The second scenario you mentioned: "seeing their loved one down also takes a toll on their mind and can affect them negatively, continuing the cycle, won't it be better to cut the contact off somewhere?"

This one's more complicated. Every single person who finds themself in a long term bond with someone affected by a chronic ailment goes through the same issue. It's not always better for them to cut off contact.

Firstly, this is not always the case. Just because we love someone doesn't mean we'll magically know what/how someone is struggling. Often, the person struggling has devised multiple coping mechanisms that keep their struggle hidden from the ones who love them-- they may even be hiding the extent of their struggle from themselves. Children frequently hide the extent of their depression from their parents, while their friends may be aware of it, but be unequipped to provide proper assistance. Spouses who live in the same environment may be blindsided by their partner's substance abuse. There are loved ones who end up suffering intense guilt because they feel they missed the signs of their loved one's suffering and only learned about it after the sufferer did something irrevocable, like attempt or succeed in ending their life; but, they didn't just overlook signs, those signs were actively being suppressed by the sufferer. They'd put on a masterful act before everything collapsed. It's even more difficult to spot the symptoms if a partner met the individual after the depression was already established. They'll only know them as that type of person-- not who they were without it.

Secondly, the person who requires the assistance may not be open to receiving guidance or assistance from the person attempting to offer it. Just because we love someone and they love us back doesn't mean we are the right person to help them out of mental hell. Oftentimes, it's a hand extended by a stranger that the sufferer will grab on to, or instead of a spouse's hand, it will be a childhood friend's or a distant relative's.

Too much blame and weight is being placed on the shoulders of Hong Jaein. Her character is a true representation of many people, male and female, who are deeply in love with someone who's mired in a depressive state. Would it be better for her to walk away? Maybe. But, love isn't reasonable, and if everyone who found themselves attached to a depressive walked away for their own good, then those people would have no one.

This series isn't that serious in the grand scheme of things, but you posed a query that is serious to me; therefore, I'll take the liberty of responding seriously.

To me, relationships-- healthy ones-- offer support in the best and worst of times, but they can't cure depression. That type of thinking is at the core of unhealthy co-dependent bonds. Many people in emotionally abusive and/or draining relationships tend to operate under the false belief that they can love someone into a healthy state of mind; that their love can save them from depression, get them to stop drinking, give them a reason to stop taking drugs, and on and on. Sadly, due to my work, I've witnessed many people, both males and females, lovers, spouses, friends, parents, siblings, waste their lives in this manner.

Depending on the nature of someone's depression-- as in its root cause-- there are myriad courses of action that can be undertaken to offer assistance in easing the depression to the point where it lifts temporarily and, hopefully, eventually dissipates permanently. Loving someone is a beautiful gift, but when someone places themself in the role of savior, that's the ego operating under the delusion of self-importance, otherwise referred to as the savior complex.

I don't give a rat's ass, either way. If she were a male, the railing against her choices wouldn't be carrying the same thread of, "Woman, get the hell out of here, we don't want to see you here. Why is there a woman inserted into this story?"

How old are you? Did you write this truly believing it? Reality is not K-drama coded. This is NOT how depression-- any form of it-- works.

Where exactly did I say or imply any of that? You're communicating with me AND writing my thoughts for me? What I wrote was, "Why would her love or anyone else's cure his depression?"

By the bye, there's no official timeline for how long is too long to build a particular type of relationship. Humans are machines that can be programmed to operate on a specific timeline.

Just let the story do what it's doing without the unnecessary bashing of the female character. Is she meant to be with a character? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way is perfectly fine and no female characters need to ripped to shreds in the interim.

Why would her love or anyone else's cure his depression? Is this meant to be a fairytale or set in our reality? Only children and the immature think that love is some miraculous cure for depression.

I know that. Do many of the people commenting know that? How many are complaining about the female lead being included in the story or how they refuse to accept that the men aren't romantically in love with each other?

Clearly, the character IS adding something to the story, but it is something you, and those like you, do not want to be there.

I wrote what I wrote. You won't be changing my mind about your behavior and those of your ilk. As a grown woman, I'm embarrassed that this segment of the female audience continues to act like typical women bashing incels. It is cringe-worthy.

Please, try not to be a revisionist. I can see the comments below. If you're responding to me to try and convince me that I have it all wrong, save yourself the bother of attempting to justify the behavior. It's ridiculous enough already.
