The dramas you mentioned were geared towards authentic Gay Romance versus featuring main leads who were good on…
What I wrote seemed pretty self-explanatory to me, so I'm left wondering your age and whether English is a second language? I'm not trying to insult you, but I'm baffled how that got tangled. Is it because MDL is such a cesspool of arguments if anyone remotely disagrees with someones preferences; therefore, you just assumed I was disagreeing with you? Fascinating. 🤔

No dear. You thoroughly misconstrued what I wrote. 🙃

Note the inclusion of the word VERSUS in my initial reply to you. I was comparing the dramas you mentioned-- Happy of the End, Love is a Poison and My Personal Weatherman against 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 and other series of its ilk, which have undeserved high MDL ratings.

To be clear, here are my ratings for the series in question:
• Happy of the End - 9.5
• Love is a Poison - 8
• My Personal Weatherman - 9
• 10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40 - Lost interest early and have no desire to return to finish it.

Thank god this is gonna end soon.. This series got one of the most boring characters I’ve ever seen. I mean…
The dramas you mentioned were geared towards authentic Gay Romance versus featuring main leads who were good on the eyes enough for watchers to ignore weak scripts.

ShuHe adored DZA since he was a child. ShuHe was at war with himself. Let's not forget ShuHe feared from his life…
Clearly, I misinterpreted your intent.

I always believe if I have to read or watch something after the conclusion of a movie or book to glean the true intentions of characters, then the movie or book failed. I'm not doing further homework to figure out a piece of entertainment.

By the bye, I thoroughly enjoyed KILL TO LOVE. It depicted love in all its twisted complexities.

Have a good day.

When we love someone, especially someone we are in a romantic relationship with, deciding to take away their choices, because WE feel we know what's best for them, is control, not an expression of the highest form of love. Yes, Shu He loved Zi Ang, but clearly, he cared deeply about his own choices and his own honor, as well. What Zi Ang did was wrong and he paid that price, in the end, and forced Shu He to act as he did.

You're welcome to believe otherwise, but I hope you never do something even remotely similar to another and label it as love. It's malignant narcissism.

In the realm of escapist fantasy, this type of all consuming love is fascinating to witness. In life? It's actually disturbingly disgusting.

Title Kill to Love
What Duan Zi Ang did in the end to Xiao Shu was turn a gentle but honorable soul into a prized possession. He dishonored him and left him with no choice but to escape from him in the only manner left available to him. Regardless of the depth of his love for Shu He, Zi Ang chose to force him to capitulate to his desire for him over giving him the respect and freedom that he deserved, and by doing so he ended up breaking both their hearts and sealed their fates. Love can be a crazy game-- a game neither of them really won, even though Shu He eventually won back his pride.

Le sigh....

I like everything about this show except that the episodes are too short and it’s ending next week already!…
Is it ending next week? Doesn't the site say there will be 12 episodes? This week was only episode 9. There should be 3 more or does the site have the episode quality incorrect?

Can someone help me " is Duan Zi Ang the crown prince of the north Kingdom?
Yes. Technically, he was illegitimate. The king was in love with Duan Zi Ang's mother. He was worried about how much he loved her, so he ordered her to be executed. I guess it could be said that Duan Zi Ang is similar to his father-- he loves obsessively to the point where he destroys the one he loves.

This deserves a much higher rating. The leads have incredible chemistry and both acted their parts very well. It's a gay love story, not a fluffy BL romance, which may account for the inexplicable lower rating.

Isn't the cold breath thing typical for Chinese series? It's something I've noticed occurs quite a lot, even in high budget series.

Title Kill to Love Spoiler
Okay I do have a question why in the world did hou ying hate sweets it felt like a subtle rejection to me but…
**SPOILER** to anyone who didn't watch the series:

Huo Ying wasn't really rejecting the candy; he was saying sorry to Shen Song (the doctor), because he couldn't be in a relationship with him-- he had already given his heart to the Crown Prince, Xiao Shu Qian.

The truth was hidden in the subtext of the words. In an earlier episode, the doctor had made it clear that he had feelings for Huo Ying and that's when Huo Ying told him his heart had already been given to someone else. In the moment that the Crown Prince died in Huo Ying's arms, in episode 8, it became evident that he was the person Huo Ying loved. So, when Shen Song asked Huo Ying, in the final episode, if he still didn't like sweets, he'd been asking him if he still couldn't accept his love and Huo Ying subtly answered that he couldn't.

At the very end of the series, the Crown Prince's spirit told Shu He that he realized he needed to change or he would continue to push away the things he most wanted. Again, the detail is hidden in subtext, but it was evident-- at least to me-- that one of those things was Huo Ying, who he'd pushed away while he was alive.

So... you want us to believe you don't believe the story, but you wrote, "So if I understand correctly [...]."

Child, it's clear you believed the story and also believe the actors are dating. You've got to get out more.

What's up with the rating???? Don't people recognize quality when they see it?
For Shine, for some reason, there are 2 different MDL pages for the series. One of the pages is this one, which is the less visited page. The series is labeled Shine (Acoustic Ver.) with a 7.8 rating. The other page, which has a lot more visits and reviews, is the Shine (Orchestric Ver.) with an 8.5 rating. I have no idea what's unique for each version.

One other very general question: Are comments that contain spoilers that aren't labeled as such deleted? I left…
Such a comment was likely reported as containing a spoiler without the notification. When that's done, the comment can be deleted immediately.

He just needs a nose job, that will bring out his features
Meryl Streep, Drew Barrymore, and Laura Dern, would beg to differ. Have you ever heard of Jennifer Grey? She was brilliant in Dirty Dancing and had the loveliest nose. Eventually, she got a nose job and stopped being hired as a lead actress, as she'd ended up looking like any run-of-the-mill actress-- there was no longer anything distinct about her.

As for you implying that the majority of BL fans are superficially drawn to the genre, I suppose I have to take your word for it, even though I don't count myself in that pile. At the very least, I have to believe that you are one of those fans.

You do you.

How interesting that the actors who portray Sheng Shao You and Shen Wen Lang are birthday twins. They were both both on April 3, 1998. It's such an oddly perfect coincidence, as their characters are evenly matched and have been deluded by their mates.

He just needs a nose job, that will bring out his features
Your comment is rubbish from top to bottom. The man is gorgeous as is-- nothing about him needs to be changed to "bring out his features," as they're already strikingly beautiful.

Self-mutilation to fit some arbitrary ideal that superficial people hold-- wanting others to look like plastic dolls to please some shallow and narrow-minded tastes-- is awful. Those who encourage others to do such a thing need to look within themselves and ask why they hate aspects of themselves to such an extent that they'd do such a thing, much less advise others to do it.

Some words of advice from the late and great Mark Twain:
"It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt."
