"Ah, I see—so the scene only makes sense if you’ve got a criminal justice degree, dated a couple detectives, and know a forensic psychiatrist. "

Yeah. I'm glad you got it.

OR, hear me out here: Doesn't accounts "cornbread", "Arxene", "TableTennisPlayer2" comments imply that they didn't require a criminal justice degree, dating a couple detectives, and knowing a forensic psychiatrist for the scene to make sense to them? Huh. Weird.

I'll leave you to stew on this. Ciao.

Hmmm... why are you assuming I wouldn't know such basic info? 😅 I require glasses, but only need them for specific activities.

Detectives are suspicious by their very nature, as well as due to their profession. Where others would note something but dismiss it as inconsequential, it's unlikely they would do the same.

Anyway, my contribution to this conversation has run its course. I conveyed what I felt called to.

Ciao.

I'll grant you that the latter is a bit harsh, but, could you not have chosen the first option: ignorance due to lack of experience? That may have caused less of a sting to your ego, as we can't know everything and there's no shame in admitting that. I tied the ignorance due to lack of experience to age, but maybe you just lack the experience to know how the minds of detectives can operate.

Due to my experience with police-- I went to a criminal justice college, dated two detectives (at different times, of course 😄 ), and I am friends with other detectives, as well as a forensic psychiatrist. I'm no longer shocked at the type of details these people notice and hyper-focus on; therefore, the detective's choice in this series didn't require the connective tissue for me to make sense of it. You clearly require it.

A detective would definitely take notice of a suspect wearing glasses during an attack and then discovering, later, that they don't wear glasses regularly.

I have to wonder the age of some of you watching the series, because being surprised by this detail stems either from ignorance, due to lack of life experience, or ignorance, due primarily to... well... I'm sure the meaning can be inferred.

was the case for me until... a few hours ago - at least I can put it in my completed list??😭
You're a warrior of will, my friend. I'm glad you're able to add it to the completed list-- hopefully, you'll never have to go through that torture again.

This series ended up being simultaneously predictable and unexpected. Episode 8 felt as though the creators all looked at each other and said, "Shall we just f*ck everybody up? Yes, we shall!!" And then they all laughed maniacally. 😂😂

Oddly enough, I loved it for the crazy balls on them to write, film and release such an ending after the fluffy romance, pining unrequited love, goofball comedy, and tourist advert that they initially delivered. Way to go, boys! As the series closed, I found myself cackling maniacally, as well.

I adore the snakes and really appreciate how Chi Cheng's love for them is reflected in his unabashed adoration for Wu Suo Wei. His mother, Yue Yue and many viewers of the series respond with fear and revulsion toward the snakes, completely discounting their beauty, just as Wu Suo Wei's girlfriend completely rejected and discounted his unique charms; yet, Chi Cheng sees them and falls deeper in love with Wu Suo Wei every moment-- not despite them, but because of them. This makes my heart sing. 🥰🎶

I watch the Viki but then go to the other sites to get better subtitles. I even paid for GagaOOLala and ran into the same poor subtitles. Until the English subtitles are better produced, this is what I've been forced to resort to, as I know I'm missing important context due to the shoddy subtitles. When the subtitles improve, I'll gladly just watch it on Viki, as I want to support the efforts of the creators who've brought this show to life.

You've admitted that you're lacking in attention span, reading comprehension and emotional maturity, which you proved with one cringeworthy and lazily written response.

I pity your husband.

Dramas will stop being this way when reality stops being this way. The best fiction shines a light on real life. Everything else is pure fantasy.

I finally got the time to watch it. I watched it with my husband. He liked it more than I did, once again. I just…
As the other commenter wrote, there was no cheating. Akira brought their relationship to an official end before he entered into a relationship and Yuki tried to have a dalliance with another man.

Also, Yuki didn't "forgive" Akira. He confessed to him, "It's impossible for me.... I tried so many times to give up.... I really tried, so many times. I tried so many times to give up on you, but it was impossible! I couldn't do it this whole time. I thought that I could put an end to it, so I came here [Alaska] and tried to forget about you, Akira."

Yuki had always been the braver and more emotionally honest of the two. He never lied to himself, hid the depth of his love for Akira, nor pretended with his mother. By the time he and Akira ran into each other years later in Alaska, he'd already accepted the truth that he couldn't live a happy life without Akira. Drawing out a protracted mea culpa from Akira just to punish Akira for ending their relationship years before would have been emotionally dishonest and, essentially, Yuki punishing himself simply to hurt Akira for hurting him. The truth had already been felt by the both of them: neither could live happily without the other, as the love they felt for each other was too profound. He was unhappy without Akira. Akira was unhappy without him. I'm very proud of the Yuki character for being too emotionally mature to pretend otherwise simply to save face.

Therefore, Yuki didn't forgive Akira. He accepted the truth without ego games which allowed them, in the end, to proceed with living a long and joyful life together and being eternally bound together after death.

That's great, too! Big Precious is heartwarming; but, I'll be honest, Da Bao as "big bun" is far more hilarious.

I just learned that Chi Cheng's nickname for Suo Wei, which is Da Bao, translates to "big bun". Bwahahahahahaa Considering Chi Cheng's obsession with Suo Wei's butt, this is extra hilarious!!! 🤣🤣

"There's also a large Chinese steamed bun called Da Bao (大包), which is often translated as 'big bun'." --Google
