This deserves a much higher rating. The leads have incredible chemistry and both acted their parts very well. It's a gay love story, not a fluffy BL romance, which may account for the inexplicable lower rating.

Isn't the cold breath thing typical for Chinese series? It's something I've noticed occurs quite a lot, even in high budget series.

**SPOILER** to anyone who didn't watch the series:

Huo Ying wasn't really rejecting the candy; he was saying sorry to Shen Song (the doctor), because he couldn't be in a relationship with him-- he had already given his heart to the Crown Prince, Xiao Shu Qian.

The truth was hidden in the subtext of the words. In an earlier episode, the doctor had made it clear that he had feelings for Huo Ying and that's when Huo Ying told him his heart had already been given to someone else. In the moment that the Crown Prince died in Huo Ying's arms, in episode 8, it became evident that he was the person Huo Ying loved. So, when Shen Song asked Huo Ying, in the final episode, if he still didn't like sweets, he'd been asking him if he still couldn't accept his love and Huo Ying subtly answered that he couldn't.

At the very end of the series, the Crown Prince's spirit told Shu He that he realized he needed to change or he would continue to push away the things he most wanted. Again, the detail is hidden in subtext, but it was evident-- at least to me-- that one of those things was Huo Ying, who he'd pushed away while he was alive.

So... you want us to believe you don't believe the story, but you wrote, "So if I understand correctly [...]."

Child, it's clear you believed the story and also believe the actors are dating. You've got to get out more.

For Shine, for some reason, there are 2 different MDL pages for the series. One of the pages is this one, which is the less visited page. The series is labeled Shine (Acoustic Ver.) with a 7.8 rating. The other page, which has a lot more visits and reviews, is the Shine (Orchestric Ver.) with an 8.5 rating. I have no idea what's unique for each version.

Meryl Streep, Drew Barrymore, and Laura Dern, would beg to differ. Have you ever heard of Jennifer Grey? She was brilliant in Dirty Dancing and had the loveliest nose. Eventually, she got a nose job and stopped being hired as a lead actress, as she'd ended up looking like any run-of-the-mill actress-- there was no longer anything distinct about her.

As for you implying that the majority of BL fans are superficially drawn to the genre, I suppose I have to take your word for it, even though I don't count myself in that pile. At the very least, I have to believe that you are one of those fans.

How interesting that the actors who portray Sheng Shao You and Shen Wen Lang are birthday twins. They were both both on April 3, 1998. It's such an oddly perfect coincidence, as their characters are evenly matched and have been deluded by their mates.

Already, you've etched yourselves into BL history, so whatever comes after, please know you've all given us a wonderful gift. I'm looking forward to the next 10 episodes with great anticipation!

In the video, the ex admitted to taking advantage of Xiao Shuai-- having a sexual relationship with him while he was an underage student and the ex was a teacher, manipulating Xiao Shuai by paying men to get him drunk and taking pictures of him so he could falsely accuse Xiao Shuai that he'd slept with those men so the teacher could break up with Xiao Shuai. In the video teh teacher admitted to being a scumbag who took advantage of Xiao Shuai.
