Q: The opening of #TheStoryOfPearlGirl takes place in the pearl slave cave, and the storyline is quite harsh. Itās different from typical 'costume idol' dramas, which often start with a romantic and beautiful approach, right?
Director Xie Ze: "We didnāt want to turn The Story of Pearl Girl into an 'idol drama'. I wanted to make it grounded and as realistic as possible. For example, when Duan Wu was a child in the pearl slave cave, the show doesnāt delve too much into the suffering she endured there. Although the pearl slave cave is dark and cruel, once the scene transitions, it moves into the gorgeous setting of the pearl pavilion.
Through the contrast between these two scenes, we want the audience to realize that while the nobility live in an environment of peace and luxury, slaves endure a life of extreme misery."
Live broadcast : "is the ending sweet? it's super sweet! too sweet! actually, the reason why we've gathered to do this kind of kitchen livestream today is because in the later part of the show, my character has a small villa and the three of our characters are kinda like how we are now.
three of us (threesome) can lead a good life together too š¤šš "
ep.14 is funny, fun, the interaction between the two of them in the horse-drawn carriage is really fun, they tease each other, the tea pot thing is really funny, 1 full episode is really fun I have a good laugh
Teaser 15.. things are going to be intense Teaser 16 we will have another diabetes episode
Ep.13 now we know duan wuās real identity and her familyās connection to the Yan. And they will encounter cui shi jiu againš i think whatever cui shi jiu does will be doomed
#TheStoryOfPearlGirl's Director explains the reason behind the quick-paced storyline ā¤ļøāš„
Q: The characters in the series experience a lot of twists in their fate, quickly changing professions, and the scenes also shift rapidly. Some say the female lead switches between three different occupations in just the first three episodesā from a slave, to a pearl-seller, to a novice worker aboard a merchant ship. The overall pacing makes it feel almost like playing a game!
Director Xie Ze: "I enjoy strong plots and fast pacing, and I think the audience will enjoy it too. However, the twists in the characters' destinies, the switching of professions, the changing of scenes, the occurrence of major events, and the driving of the story all have external and internal motivations.
We've provided the audience with reasonable explanations. For example, it makes sense for Duan Wu to go from being a slave to a pearl-selling "pearl maiden."
Her mother has secretly been teaching her so that she can end up selling pearls, become a servant, and then be taken awayāthis is her way of escaping the place and surviving.
I've watched many American and Korean dramas with fast pacing. They quickly lay out information upfront and then gradually unfold it, with the audience able to look forward to solving the clues as they come." https://x.com/wonwoncity/status/1853999429516452216?s=46
