In ancient times, due to the prolonged use of primitive gathering methods, pearl diving was an extremely dangerous job. Divers had to go down to over 10m in shallow waters or even to 12m in deep seas to collect pearls
During filming, Zhao Lusi also experienced the challenges and dangers of her character Duan Wu working underwater. Many underwater scenes involving pearl diving and fighting were shot in Winter, and while filming underwater, she had to keep her eyes open while carrying weights of 8/9kg around her waist!
In one scene, Duanwu faced persecution and fought underwater, nearly suffocating. During the actual shoot, Zhao Lusi felt a sense of fear: if she inhaled water, her body wouldn’t be able to surface
