I do think it's about Zanghai (from the general vibes from the production). Also tho the first one was planned as a standalone story, Zanghai has a lot of lore to delve in from its parent series the Grave Robbers. So it's possible that they will continue to adapt the lore. There is a symbol of a "qilin" in the poster which is the symbol of the Zhang family, the family that apparently Zanghai's followers/faction have been beefing with over the secret (?) to immortality. I'm not very well versed with the parent story but this is what I picked up while seeing the cnetz comments.

He's careful about keeping himself safe but he's not paranoid that he's gonna get killed in some political conspiracy anytime so he's not constantly spying. He does test him with a poison that he sends to check if Zang Hai has bad intentions. He also had him background checked in the beginning and tested his physical strength by pressing his shoulder.

The writer clearly has a wrong notion of maturity. She probably believes maturity means always talking in a low voice, forgiving unforgivable stuff, keeping good relations with everyone regardless of how they treat you. Because how in the hell does the FL never hold that ex-husband and even the friend of hers accountable for anything. What's even worse is that instead of healing and cutting those people out the FL is putting the ML through the same cycle of abuse that she went through (except the cheating part) - big power and age difference, lack of accountability towards the ML, barely any interest in ML's life etc.
