Wow, this devolved. We've now got some random boring game plot starring Su Bei Lu's uninteresting friend and the…
Yeah, they could've done without that plotline. I personally didn't mind it too much, but it really should have just been one episode. It dragged on for too long.
It's been a very enjoyable show so far! You should definitely check it out. And it's more historical time travel/slight…
Yes, there is humor sprinkled in as well! There are dorky/silly moments with Su Beilu. And, they do have an older serious/carefree youger type of friendship. Beilu definitely has golden retriever energy.
I saw an edit, and it looked amazing and quite funny, so I don't know if this is a hidden gem that somehow not…

I'm not hating on this drama, this is my honest opinion as an avid Bromance non-bl drama fan This drama is a friendship…
I'm an avid bromance non-bl drama watcher myself! And I really liked The First Shot. A very good drama.
I can totally get where you're coming from with this drama. I do wish they had more of those types of interactions myself. Although I'm still really liking the show. I personally feel Bizhi and Beilu do share a close connection that goes beyond just being colleagues. Their friendship is just more subtle? They get along well enough that they live together and enjoy each other's company. And maybe part of the reason one may feel a disconnect between them is because Beilu already has two close friendships? Especially with Chin Ge?
Although I hope be do get more angsty interactions between Bizhi and Beilu in future episodes.
I can't hold back anymore, I just gotta vent! that fl is seriously so frustrating. she's the epitome of my most…
Yeah, I kind of agree with you. A Shui did get a little annoying in the show. I didn't hate her or anything, but I wasn't the biggest fan. Their "romance" doesnβt really go anywhere. The one who always mattered the most to Tan Lici was his mentor, Fang Zhou.
Just some between side characters so far and the two male leads have a cute bromance/friendship going on!
The comment below basically answered that question. No, not BL. Mainland Chinese shows can't have explicit BL because of censorship. The relationship between the two MLs could be up to your interpretation. I see it as a deep platonic friendship/bromance, but you could definitely see it as more if you want. There's no right or wrong answer π€·πΌββοΈ
is it untamed level bromance or just plain genuine bromancewas the original novel BL?
Plain genuine bromance, although you could easily read it to be more than that if you wanted. And the original novel is not a technically BL, from what I've heard.
Okay, after watching episode 14, I'm honestly rooting for Meng Chen more than Jingzhi...Jingzhi really hasn't shown much remorse for neglecting his little "brother" and I wish he would. Although, MC's actions still aren't justifiable...

I definitely recommend watching the playlist! The subs and quality are MUCH better. Thanks for the links!
Do you mean cartoonish psycho and blockbuster villain cackling, or just that you don't like the type? I'm trying…
That's a good question. I'm sure we'll know more once the series progresses. My thoughts are he's doing it in part for revenge, because he was human-trafficked himself as a kid? And, he does hold a grudge against Jingzhi. His mother was also physically abusive to him, so that can mess someone up.

I've watched up to episode 13, and Ming Cheng has more dimension now, and you get more of his backstory. If he was a pure psycho, then I would've stopped watching the show π You get to see some of the reasons behind his actions. Side note - I loved The First Shot! And Lele was a great villain.
