First 2 eps were ok. Nothing great, nothing horrible. I liked the leads and their chemistry. Of course their dating makes ZERO sense, but I'll gladly watch Woohyun realize his feelings for the next 6 eps.
When both boys revealed they were in sex-less relationships I thought it was a bit too convenient - but that's the premise of the show so I bought into it. Revealing these possibly embarrassing details on an anonymous email thread makes sense. You feel safe and comfortable talking to a stranger who will never know you.
But now a 3rd person just blurts out that her husband is impotent and her marriage is sexless as well? Out of the blue. No prompting. Just blurts it out at a dinner party. Why? We got 2 different perspectives on sex-less relationships already. Did we need a third to drive home the point? I think not. Apparently there's a lot of people NOT having sex in Japan.
Also, if your husband masturbates alone, he's not impotent. He just doesn't want to have sex with YOU.
But just a minor rant. All in all, I'm all in on this unique storyline.
Lu Xi just bragged and bragged about his little brother and how art was very important to him... then the kid did nothing but play in the water the entire painting lesson. LOL. And now art is the last thing on little brother's mind.
I gave this one a shot, because I think Mix is a strong actor and I've enjoyed all his pairings with Earth, but this one just isn't for me. It's just not my style of comedy, so I keep getting pulled out of the story to roll my eyes. Not bad, just not for me. Enjoy.
Just my cup of tea. Dark, brooding, atmospheric, filled with nuance. More longing stares than insightful dialogue - but those stares speak volumes. What Huang Guan Zhi conveys with just a tentative smile is monumental. Not typical in its storytelling at all. Loved this glimpse into an underbelly that I will never be familiar with in real life. Like Pua, I cling to the hope of their love. I will watch again when I'm yearning for something moody.
Weird rant: What's with the trope of boys always over-sleeping and missing important tests/meetings/interviews/buses to their future jobs, etc? Is this something that happens in Asia a lot? Because it's in soooo many BLs.
First, they ALL have cell phones with alarm clocks in them. Problem solved. (In several series I've seen guys wake up WITH AN ALARM CLOCK and then moan about oversleeping/being late. Did they ALL set their alarms incorrectly?)
Most of them have friends also looking out for them. Xiao Yu even texted him the day earlier. How lazy/stupid are these guys? I've NEVER missed an important meeting by over-sleeping (even when I was a teenager sleeping 12 hours a day).
And what is this supposed to tell us about their characters? That they're lazy, don't pay attention to detail, don't take important things seriously.... ??? Why do writers think this makes us sympathetic to their characters? These are not traits I want in a BF.
I guess we see them change over time. Once they fall in love they miraculously can be on time. I guess that counts as character growth. Rant over.
This is the first version of this story I have watched. I can't compare it to other versions, and personally I try to rate each series on its own merits, regardless of its origins.
This style of slapstick humor is not generally for me, so not sure I'll be able to stick around for the whole series. That said, the boys are doing a great job.
Like someone else said, they are made up and styled to look younger, it seems. Both look HOT. But they have such pure, warm expressions that you immediately fall in love with them both. I like the cast, so I'll give it a shot, but am not expecting much.
I fell in love with both of these boys in Episode 1, and it's been a beautiful journey with them to their "marriage". While a LOT happens in this series, what impressed me the most was how much time the two boys spent STARING LONGINGLY into each other's eyes. There was so much emotion in those long glances. Excellent job from the actors. Another poster below said it, in most series I would be FF through the silences, but here I got so much from watching them process their thoughts and emotions and work through them. Naturally, there were some elements that could have been improved, but overall this is a beautiful series and I will rewatch it again and again. Probably starting this afternoon.
