I'm way behind everyone else on this one. Only 4 eps in, so far. I started, watched 2 eps and then wanted to wait til I could binge a whole bunch. But the story was so boring I had to go back and watch from the beginning again, because I had forgotten everything.
So far, really disappointing. Some of the cutest actors in BL (Gui, Kao, even Khem), but the direction, editing, pacing are all horrible. There are small moments where I think "that's a fantastic touch" but then 99% of the time I'm screaming "WHY?!!!?" Stupid example, but I just watched this scene... Gui is missing Solo and decides to make himself warm milk... so he pulls 2 gallons of milk out of the fridge. 2??? For one cup of milk?
I've seen some comments that I totally agree with. Are these guys botoxed to the max? Cuz I can't find an actual expression for the most part. I commented below and will say again, Solo looks like he's on drugs. His eyes are glazed over. Give this guy some Oxygen.
Anyway, I'm not sure I can stick with it. I may just watch the Pho/Kao scenes, since Kao is the best thing in this and I've read your comments about his... exposure... in future eps.
Sidenote: The song Oxygen is beautiful and beautifully sung. Kao's song is also very well done.
Um. He asked him to move in because he wants to spend time with him before he leaves. I don't see anything wrong…
jpnoy01 I don't disagree with you one bit. i've been having other conversations on the board and apparently, that's the difference between BL series and "gay" series. BL is all sanitized, chaste and doesn't consider real world issues. "Gay" series consider real-world implications. (At least from what I gather from others here). I guess there should be room for both, but I agree that it is a fetishization and potentially harmful for young gay men who may look to BL for examples of how their lives may evolve.
yeah I was a bit lost there too. It looked like from the intro they were gonna make Perth and Khem a thing but…
Age of consent may be 15, but come on. We all know 15 year olds are still kids and are easily manipulated by adults. Just cuz the law says it's ok, doesn't make it ok.
While I think the actors are amateurs, I blame most of this on the director. Every once in a while both the MC actually show an emotion, so they are capable. I think the director has told them to play the characters this way. Sometimes I think Solo is on drugs. He's got this dazed look as if nothing registers at all.
A-men. Still not accepted by my mother. Because God.
I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, in time, she will be able to accept you. Deep in her heart she loves you, but her fears have just clouded her judgement. God loves you, certainly. And you have allies here. Stay strong.
Its a bit more complicated than that. The ending is just not sad, it is a sad ending for the GAY couple while…
I agree. I THOUGHT I liked BL, but given the very narrow parameters for the genre held by the majority here (not all, but those ardent fans), it seems very few of the series I like would actually qualify as BL. That’s fine. We all have our own tastes. I’ll stop calling myself a BL fan and just say... I like shows about boys who love boys. Lol.
Right?!? I had to rewind. Was that tongue? I think that was tongue. It looks like tongue. I'm not sure. Maybe…
Very sweet. It explains the crying, but still not sure why these guys use tongue when so many BL couple have their mouths shut as tight as possible. Haha.
Agreed. I find it somewhat off-putting how some of these shows marketed themselves as BL when they're not really?…
Thanks to you both. Fascinating issues for those of us new and somewhat unfamiliar with this... is sub-genre the correct term? Really appreciate your thoughtful and respectful responses as well as the insights. Cheers.

Preachy and whatnot came from others in the thread. I Get what you’re saying but why do we need a distinction? Why fracture an already marginalized community even more. Just an honest question
I watched this series a few times already, and it's crazy how many interesting details there is, every time I…
Right?!? I had to rewind. Was that tongue? I think that was tongue. It looks like tongue. I'm not sure. Maybe they found a way to LOOK like tongue without actually french kissing. Nope that was tongue. LOL. Would have loved to be a fly on the wall during that rehearsal/filming. "Hey, is it okay if we totally make out here?"
Best episode yet. We're now past all of the back story and character development and can enjoy the ride to the…
It is kinda weird to hold someone's hand in bed, but then have animosity toward them later. But that's teen angst, gender identity confusion and hormones for ya!
