It can get out of hand when fans go to war about pairing up their idols in real life. So I am a bit ambivalent about the new WuLufufu fad. But after all, ZLS manages to keep all those rumors in check, even she has to brazenly tell that she considers herself just like a male (she must have been tongue in cheek there, because from what I saw in the BTS of WRTW and here, she is one hot lady, no doubt. Just doesn't want the hot guys she is pairing with for work to overstep.) The Qixi treat on Twitter shows hot amorous glances from Wu Lei, but same for him, I think he's more professional actor than possible suitor. I don't think ZLS would like to be married too soon, and many actors who marry actresses or prominent showbiz figures don't end up happy together, as recent news show (Janice Wu, other ones). So either marry an early sweetheart as Allen Ren Jialun or Timmy Xu Weizhou did, or stay yyds like Yang Yang, who seems quite uncomfortable when he is asked about that in interview. They have trouble enough protecting their private life from paparazzi ! Even if it is clickbait and interesting for many who idly or passionately follow all those mingxin celebrities news, like in the past when reading gossip in the magazines at the hairdresser was popular.
Every time I think that each episode cannot get any better, I am proven wrong! The sweetness of episodes 35 and…
Yes, that comforting and bringing CSS down under LBI on the bed.... Very hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 after the "blocking mouth" moment in previous episode (still don't understand why she does not use this ploy to get more sweet kisses, esp after having counseled the empress on how to look like a helpless damsel in distress needing help from powerful emperor 😁
No. Guqin. The oldest ancient Chinese instrument, it is a piece of wood that is dried very specifically and equipped with silk (or today steel) strings. It is played with finger picking strings to resonate on right hand, slides with left hand. It is not a very loud instrument, so good for meditative moments. Seven strings are the usual, like on my own guqin 😊 Players usually just refer to the two instruments as qin and zheng. The zheng is much louder and needs special nails attached to fingers to be played. Here is a comparison of the two : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZY4b6g7JeM (《The Left Hand Refers To The Moon/左手指月》from Ashes of Love on the guzheng) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0AAFhx3RmA (《Unsullied /不染》also from AoL on the guqin) or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiEiORfcICw (Sun Quan the Emperor, played rock style including guzheng, pipa, erhu and dizi flute) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tq_HOhV7CD8 (Moon over Mountain Gate also known as Border fort, mountain and Moon《关山月》 ancient piecece on a Li Bai poem sung by performer, about a border fort on the Great Wall in present day Gansu province) As you can see, the instruments are used both for classical, pop and rock and drama music... The guqin is often featured in wuxia, as it ties in with the jianghu spirit, but actors rarely know how to play it so what we see in those dramas is often wrong.
The guzheng is more popular nowadays, and Zhao Lusi plays it for relaxation, sometimes also on stage as here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKGr8RfqHok (《芒种》mangzhong, a 2019 hit song made popularby 趙方婧 Zhao Fang Jing who is part of a gufeng/electronic dance music 古風 EDM group called Yin Que Shi Ting – 音阙诗听 out of her native Chengdu)
Can someone give me a quick recap of episode 36? Lmao, I want to watch it but if she's bullied the entire time…
No she is not bullied the entire time. It happens around after 7 minutes in ep 36 but even if it is somewhat harsh, just bear through it and wonder how the attack could have been so well planned, if it just had been decided they would go together to the other palace. Lusi, according to the BTS , did get into the water several times for filming purposes and it was not the funniest moments but hard work, so it's only fair to sit and watch the result for the cinematography.
I guess that snake was not poisonous. Thank goodness.
But those puncture marks were scary enough and even if not poisonous, added to waters that may not be very clean could well have done her in with staph or polio... In reality, any wound must be attended to speedily. Shaoshang does take a bath, next, but we don't see her disinfecting the puncture woun d; maybe she did, after all she said one of her dreams was to compile medical knowledge.
Btw this scene, again, is dramatic but unlikely. Snakes shy away from people if they feel a big commotion ; they don't just lay in ambush, pursue a stray passersby and love to bite ankles! And the bucket in which they were brought did not have a lid? The trip to the other palace had just been decided and these guys already had done so much preparation for the ambush?
When hiking, walk heavily, stomp on the paths, use a stick to add vibrations, don't turn over stones under which snakes may hide. If you happen upon a snake that you need to capture, use a forked device to pin its head and hold it there. I have seen a lot of snakes, but never been bitten, using these precautions. Pythons are interesting creatures, surprisingly soft skinned and not cold and slimy at all. Cobras are very tasty (remembering nice meals in Guilin and the Yunnan, where the cobras were kept in cages until ready to be prepared for cooking). In some places, they are even used as cats to keep other pests away from houses. They feed sparingly, but do hunt some smaller creatures, like rodents that carry diseases with their fleas. I would not recommend to get one for that purpose though, unless you are from a family of bedey (Bengali gypsy) snake charmers 😁 "The Chinese water snake, Chinese smooth water snake, Chinese mud snake or Chinese rice paddy snake is a species of mildly venomous, rear-fanged snake, endemic to Asia." It hunts fish, lives in brackish waters and only rarely is known to bite humans. "Mildly venomous, snakebite symptoms include swelling of wound, headache and nausea. Symptoms subsequently disappear without treatment."
Pushing Shaoshang into the water and throwing stones at her was already enough for the murderous attempt. The snakes were just over the top, imo.
Love the part when Zisheng plays Flowing Waters 《流水》on the guqin. An excerpt only!it's a long piece. It was included on the Golden Record on the Voyager missions to deep space of 1977 Here are two recordings to listen to the complete piece : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lReQHyOYgU&t=129s (Voyager Golden record) 7mins48 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcElotwrZ8o ( 楚童 guqin channel) 8 mins
Yeh, That's badly written by scriptwriter. Not in the original novel. I heard they add to make ML look more understanding…
Yes, that would be the most reasonable action. Leaving no evidence of Shaoshang's reckless and lawbreaking attempt at sculpting such "copyrighted material" 😊 There's still the original ones to hunt down, and preferably swap with the Huo ones to... seal the deal 😁 Maybe an interesting twist to come. Looking forward to 35-36 tonight !
I heard that the whole fake tiger seal deal was not in the novel but the scriptwriter's inclusion.
I'm not fuming, but regret that scriptwriter did not take enough time and talk it through with more clever people to get her idea a bit better packaged. I know sciptwriting and storytelling is not as easy as it seems. The best authors often include a long list of people to thank them for their input and objections... Even then, there are so many who are eager to find the plotholes when they could not, themselves, tell a better story. The production let this slip past : perhaps they were distracted by other trouble. Who knows. Wondering if this was in some way better woven in later, since we now have two sets of tiger seals flying under the radar.
Yeah, that felt way off. So poorly written and out of character not just for SS but all involved. She turned in…
Don't be too harsh. There are always discrepancies and unlikely things in all dramas. Never saw one that was totally logical, even Breaking Bad. The grand uncle : maybe he had been part of the neglect and perhaps torture of Chaoshang as a kid. So since she has no qualms about taking revenge....
Same feelings. What was her business with suggesting to sneak those seals out of the palace to a lesser defended…
Aug 5 edit -- I first assumed she was Princess Yuchang, the known granddaughter of Lord Ruyang. She was the one who faked drowning at Lantern Festival in episode 6 and vowed to become a nun after Lord Ruyang renounced attempting to break off Shaoshang and Ling Buyi's engagement. The Crown Princess had hinted to CSS that her husband had had another love, without getting further and dropping names, but she seemed resentful about the fact that she had entered into marriage with a man who had no feelings for her, only as a pawn in the political game. YetI found it a bit strange that the Crown Prince who was thus branded as 'having been in love', if it was with Yuchang, and knowing he always was partial to family members and old acquaintances, did not seem that concerned about her since the drama started. Puzzling. Also Yuchang kept leeching onto Zisheng after having been thoroughly rejected in episode 5 and until episode 23 when she came barging in at Shiyilang's residence (together with Crown Prince, so... maybe? still, maybe not) where the general had set up Shaoshang to be alone with him. Her fainting at the banquet where the emperor accepted to stand with Ling Buyi for the proposal, episode 24, was marked by a very funny remark from the emperor.
Now I thinl it is more likely it was "Madam Qu Ling, Liang Shang", the lady appearing in episode 36 at the banquet (about 30min04 into the episode), as the two exchange longing and regretful stares. She appears to be married to the man sitting, frowning, beside her. But I don't know what will happen to her or what role she will play in upcoming episodes. The phrase pronounced by 5th Princess (sitting behind the Crown Prince couple) is revealing "it is a menage a trois"...
hahahahaha am I the only one who laughed so hard and enjoyed how the whole royal family saved their marriage 55555555555555555555555555555555555
I was ROFL ! Same as Angel39 🤣🤣🤣 Could reply, "It's therapy to loosen stiff facial muscles and relax those in the neck and back", plus have an alibi for dancing with glee!
E7 (34): THE BESTEST BEST EPISODE IN THE ENTIRE SERIES FOR REAL! The whole moment LBY let CSS witnessed his mother’s…
The end of this episode felt like a person-size game of chess out of Alice in Wonderland, at times. I was almost hearing the evil aunt hollerig "Off with her head" before opposing forces stepped in big time and defeated her 😁
