Some parts are still "under construction" since the character gallery is rather sprawling and the available cast lists are not always very clear about who plays who. I have strived to find those I put in, and corrected some mistakes ; there might still be a few that crept in, since some were almost 'guesswork' from pictures of the actor/actress and names in the Baidu cast list. If I have time, I will check later with the end credits but you probably noticed they go.... very fast and are not easy to read here.
Anyway, if you have time to kill in the 3 days gap : enjoy the added infos !

But I will finish the Companion piece nonetheless. Patiently.
I did like much of the drama up till marriage, feeling a bit fidgety about the alcohol restriction and the (almost) no-kisses policy next, when Tan Songyun can do wonders of sweetness, as demonstrated in Road Home.
Nevertheless, even if I ended up unsatisfied (until it ends I can't say where my opinion will rest) I would not casually slap a 1/10 rating as only haters of cast would.
The AI face lift does not faze me. It was a way to save a lot of efforts of cast and brocade workers from ending up on the shelf like Immortality. The re-cut because of it may have made the drama veer slightly off course, but I don't think it did much to harm it, since the character stayed in. I was not going to watch for that actor anyway. They could have cut him off totally as far as I am concerned, but since there are perhaps doubts about his guilts, and he is busy suing for slander, it would not be fair to totally erase him there before a verdict is reached.
Not sure there'll be an express package, but I am stingy and won't pay for more than my present subscription. Of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be able to watch the express anyway, But I am not going to hurry and binge or speed through with no idea what I would be skipping. I'll justtake it... slower.

Often when the drama nears ending, there could be an "express option" for an additional fee, to watch the remaining episodes in advance instead of sticking with the published schedule. But yes, maybe the production will not try that. If they don't we will have to wait till Dec 26-27 to watch till end, according to schedule. If they do, the remaining episodes might be released tomorrow or day next, after episode 36, on the eve of the 3-day gap with no episode before Dec.24 (strange schedule).

Ah... but Mavix liked it so it can't be totally bad, can it? At the time, I just slapped an 8.5 out of leniency and liking for Rosy, whose earlier work I was speeding through, resting longer on the very funny story of the Ophiuchus hidden 13th Zodiac gambling with her supposed jailors.

(btw, it's the period now for the Serpentarius stars Noc29-Dec17, 1st December to 18th December according to different source. Somewhat fitting with the drama at hand airing dates? ssslithering my way through episodes)

Perhaps I ought to skim through it again for refresher. Fact is the kissing scenes rarely impress me, though, and especially not there. Personal appreciation.
Hoping it's not your all-time favorite drama that I don't saw eye to eye with you there ; at the time of watching, I saw a lot of other dramas of similar theme, so despite generally liking because of ZLS, all those fantasy dramas blurred into a soup in my memory, and I was glad to see her tackling other more amusing or serious themes as time went by (DITK, RoTaR, WRTW, LLTG, GenZ, even Hutong...).
In fact, at the time, I was more amused by some older dramas for which ZLS had a nice song. (OME!)
I also have to admit that this is one drama that I did not watch with much attention, maybe due to editing and plotholes?
Sure, I shall try to re-watch LoaTY in a renewed and more favorable light, when I have time, in case I did not do it justice ;) But after this BO drama which I am still slowly savoring <

leads were Li Qin and Ren Jialun in that one.
Zheng Ye Cheng has not been Zhao Lusi's co-lead in any of the dramas he played in, yet ? Nor in upcoming projects, but there'll perhaps be time for that in the longer future.

Not sure ZLS and ZYC kissed privately either.
But that does not mean they can't be in the same circle of c-ent friends. The little lady who likes sweet cakes has many, including Esther Yu, despite the unfortunate tiff between their fandom about TSoPG and LGiEF competition, and I don't think they have grown to become personal enemies because of it.
Both being Sichuan people and attached to their home towns, ZLS and TSY also have common ground and even if not flaunting friendship may very well be acquainted and agree on some ideas and art, or pet rearing.

In my opinion, both TSoPG and Brocade Odyssey have similar goals about promoting intangible cultural heritage and interest for the historical period through enjoyable and colorful fiction (not showing actual rulers or historical people, but much more to our time's 'laobaixing', the different but relatable ordinary people of past times and their extraordinary talents ;)
So, I am not surprised ZLS thought of promoting BO : it would make sense also in broader perspective about that type of dramas, and of course, if she appreciates privately ZYC screenwork and personality.

I don't know if MDL cast should keep "original" ZHW : he has been struck from the 23 in cast listed on Baidu. It's complicated now when same character can appear in original (and voice?) but be AI "face lifted" because some scandal makes original actor persona non grata on screen.

Btw I submitted the 14 or so additional names of support actors/actresses to complete the cast (until Baidu adds more) : they are on dramawiki too now, let's see when they will be registered on MDL... These have no scandal. Many young faces, a few old ones.

'Zhao Hua Wei' age would fit better if it is the one that has a page on MDL.

Wonder what sort of trouble Zhang Haowei got into after a 14 year career and playing in relatively memorable roles like Crown Prince in JoL2. Dramawiki mention he put his career on "a break" after being "exposed to cheating" (??) but I did not follow the gossip about him when that happened.
His face is also cause now for delay of other dramas, and dramawiki mentioned his role in 'Sheng Nv" was replaced.

Baidu cast list for Brocade Odyssey mentions a 'Mr Zhao' played by Kou Zhen Hai who is 70 years old, so that can't be ZHW replacement.

ZHW is still listed on dramawiki for the Zhao Xiuyuan role, which clear was struck on Baidu list...

--- Wondering what's happening to Golden Hairpin, where the ML got into much more serious trouble. Supposedly it got reshot in parts, and Yang Zi who is FL there put in a lot to revive the drama, but it looks like it is still "on the shelf" like many dramas that fell foul of pebbles on the way in worse fashion than this ZHW scandal.

Tan Sonyun in brocade sewing again but in Tang dynasty instead of Ming like "The Sword and The Brocade" (which I liked!)
Looking forward to this drama, although I think Youku only platform is perhaps a mistake given the apparent level of investment.
I read somewhere that one actor (who also played in Love has fireworks - not yet aired) had trouble with a law suit and was given the AI face replacement treatment. Any more info on that?
