That is really great, thank you.
you are welcome ; it's an old and long one, but enjoy for Zhao Liying or the others since it is difficult to find it elsewhere after dramacool was shut down in late 2024.
Shirley Dai had a support role recently in October 2024 The Rise of Ning where there were no mermaids nor fantasy, but an obsessed duke played very well by actor Ci Sha and some pretty sets.
The others are still active too although I did not follow their work, lol

Between her, Shen Yue, Bai Lu, Seven Tang and Li Sun; they represent the best of modern Chinese actresses. By…
Seven Tan /Tan Songyun . Who is Li Sun? Did you mean 孙俪 Sun Li /Betty Sun ?
aargh it's not easy to get correct names even with MDL to help ?

But I see you are primarily an SK drama fan, although you liked Tao's Legally Romance.
If you like the actresses you mentioned, why not include their work in your watch list, and have a look at Zhao Lusi's dramas too?

This young lady... incredible outstanding actress is due for some Rest and Relaxation. Unfortunately, it shouldn't…
Rosy had taken a "long rest" before filming The Story of Pearl Girl. Although she had an agenda still packed full with other events and promotional assignments... Vacations in the sun and relaxing on a beach never was her style even when she went to study in Taiwan. >We can't project on her and advise what "should" be done.

But not accepting the hate speech directed at her is in order. Difficult though to react; I did a few times but the "water army" opponents were very vicious, attacking me in turn... So, I just hope the accounts got picked up by competent authority and handled as they should. There are several on MDL who have multiple accounts only to target Zhao Lusi, have been signaled even by me among many, but are still around... Shen Li etc. They demean other entertainers names and work as well, sowing hatred at every step.

Anyway, let's continue wishing Rosy to speedily get on the mend. Not forgetting her, still watching her past and recent dramas and other work, and liking. That's all we can do...

Wishing you a happy new year nonetheless.

The government lives under their mistress's skirt, they play favoritism, if their mistress is an actress and she…
Btw who are you, netizen? "Tom Miller" female, no data on personal page...

Zhao Lusi was still beautiful not long ago, for instance when she ran as torch bearer for the 2024 Olympics. https://weibo.com/tv/show/1034:5035415267377172?from=old_pc_videoshow (May 18, 2024) and during her cook-in with Liu Yuning and Daddi Tang, around promotion of The Story of Pearl Girl. And more recently.
What I now hear (blogger report) is that she got physically beaten on set of Almost Lover, which sounds unimaginable. Her parents are suing to have everything clarified. Some people are indeed using her trouble to put themselves in limelight and even rejoice that her career may be over! SO callous.

I have explored some fandom groups although preferring to stay as unregistered sympathizer. Not wanting to own anything but to know more about some and the industry they work in. Rosy's is one I examined from start of her career. Weeding out "water army" fans creeping in from outside is like sifting sand in the dunes to clean them ; information can be handed over to those who can do something about it within the legal framework. Dodgy post writers can and have been sued. Trouble is there are many delusional people in the world and in China. Guarding Rosy's personal space is of course important for respectful fans and her close crew. Sometimes, like in the tsunami like assaults against her in second half of 2024, it is not enough. Unless it was recorded, the beating allegation is difficult to prove too, probably.

Some pose as fans and write or video about her, when they aren't, and have a vicious agenda to announce her downfall and promote one over the other...

Stopping here, I'll follow her news privately from now on, and continue wishing her well. Will rewatch her past work and listen to her songs, not forgetting her, however long it takes for her comeback.

thank for warning not to leave too early :)
I had started not too tardily, but been side tracked by real life and other seasonal festivals on screen, lol (yes, Dongzhi, the other champion of last weeks' viewing according to Marcus)

Well..... Johnny Huang is always good as the strong dependable male. And he kisses well.I actually like the actress.…
I quite liked The First Shot... Although there was no really cute and pretty actress except the one who played Johnny Huang's police officer's sister there. That said, I was vastly amused by Xie Kewen as kick-ass policewoman in that other drama.
Same, am also watching (almost) simultaneously some other dramas (3-4 total including a re-watch for fluff). Tentatively starting on We Are Criminal Police which also has a bloody case to solve, while continuing the pig-headed (literally) murder case in Riverside, in Song dynasty - lol

It's a Chinese / Korean drama, so of course 2ML got an obsession with the female lead and it's not just him. All…
Ah, but the primary target audience is Johnny Huang's followers who like action movies and police thrillers....
SML Wang Tian Chen did not capture my attention much before this drama ; only remember he was playing a support role as a more remote relative of the emperor in Joy of Life and that he invited Fan Xian to the poetry contest there.
Wen Peng in LSIW does look obsessed but quite suspect as possible serial killer. Not really the usual simpish case, lol.
Happy watching to you, dooh, if you are continuing after episode 3...

Person Zhao Lu Si
Of course, the latest update from her close friend is she is already in the process of recovery and we all hope…
Hmmm it may not be that easy to rely on "own agency". Added stress although differently. Chen Zheyuan apparently tried to break free but finally is back with his former "handlers"; I read somewhere that he was among the high profile well wishers who expressed their concern and get-wells to Zhao Lusi.

Arranging a schedule in itself is not necessarily evil but could be seen as a proof they are not just throwing away a "spent shell" after having pressed all juice from it. It can even be seen as a sign of faith in the actress coming back after necessary time for recovery ?

I was amazed to hear in a video that Smile Wei purportedly said she had noticed Rosy looking in bad health since November 9, and the report also mentioned aphasia (was it Smile Wei who leaked it?) so the rumor went from speculations about dehydration and hypoglycemia to outright stroke. Although stroke is possible at any age, it is usually a dire diagnose, despite there are also not severe strokes that only cause discomfort with blind spots and maybe a tell tale sagging to one side of face. A stroke ? That was alarming news.

I was sitting in audience about how to recognize and care for stroke sufferers, so I have some notions about that... besides having among my relatives one who had a brain hemorrhage but recovered after months of work enough command to give speeches and to run the semi marathon. This proves that even with severe stroke, the prognosis is not always : "tied to wheelchair with paralysis and broken career".

News next that Rosy could speak and move a bit and now needs rest are somewhat reassuring. Although her Weibo still down is ominous.

Speculating on the "since Nov9" mention : strokes can seldom be pointed to a sure cause (except direct hit to head and concussion), so was it a stroke? Usually there are no warning signs over months before.

Of course, high blood pressure, burnout, depression from repeated attacks such as those she suffered on the Net after the exhilaration of playing in The Story of Pearl Girl and bantering with friends Liu Yuning and Daddi Tang, all those sudden heartaches and worries in November-December may have taken a toll on her usually cheerful mood and weakened her health.

She still had pluck and gentleness enough to voluntarily help promote her long past co-star Zheng Yecheng's latest drama with Tan Songyun (Brocade Odyssey), among the many Tang and Song dynasty costume dramas airing this winter 24-25 season...

Some people's comments about this fine young lady to accuse her of all sorts of sins are despicable. I just hope that she will bounce back, not too burnt from this ordeal, and that we shall enjoy her presence on screen for many more years (though perhaps we should not clamor for "the next drama", to push her finishing too many in one year). She always was a workaholic, but certainly needs some pause, not too long, not a stop in career, now that she has achieved so much : Olympic torchbearer, so many highly successful dramas despite the haters, her care for animals, her love of dance, singing, and playing the guzheng, her lovely and playful brand ambassadorship (remembering her singing a snippet of Wolf's temptation by Phoenix Legend, once during a brand event coinciding with the airing of Chen Zheyuan's old drama The Princess and The Werewolf, as though she was supporting that drama virally despite not playing a role in it, just out of friendship)...

Sending warm vibes of well wishes to our dear Rosy.

Now there are rumors of stroke. I really hope that is not true.
Although it is possible to recover to large extent from strokes if not too severe, they do leave person in a more fragile state, needing months of recovery, speech therapy, and sometimes problems walking or at worst, sufferer left paralyzed in a wheelchair.

Smile Wei's observation of Zhao Lusi whom she described to be in fragile health since November 9 is worrying, and also the mention (by her?) of aphasia which is a speech disorder often associated with strokes, which can be light and without many consequences (seeing bling spots, or butterflies with eyes closed) or severe (brain hemorrhage, ruptured aneurysm) and cause paralysis, memory loss and long lasting aphasia. Repeat strokes are possible and can happen at any age (I attended once a seminar about them and what care could be given, and one case examined was that of a 14 year old who was living a healthy life in a stable family with normal sports exercising and no special stress like bullying or other pressure.) What is tragic too is that it is usually difficult to point to one (avoidable) cause, except direct hits to head and concussion. Excessive weight loss or gain are only one suspect; depending on age, "excessive" weight loss can nevertheless be beneficial such as in the case of Chen Feiyu who went from very overweight to slim and handsome, healthy young actor, or for depression sufferers...

We don't know what Rosy is suffering from exactly, could be anything from adverse reaction to a covid vaccine (happened), or poisoning, burn-out, allergy...

Her Weibo is down. Her friends and co-stars have expressed concern and support but not directly on their own social media. Latest news is she can speak and move a little again, so let's send all our most heartfelt well wishes instead of looking to assign blame.

The government lives under their mistress's skirt, they play favoritism, if their mistress is an actress and she…
You ought to remember how much ZLS was criticized for NOT heeding the waif-like look criteria and appearing round faced and almost chubby for years. Indeed pressure from THE PUBLIC and NETIZENS may have contributed to her choice of conforming more to young slim adult.

But I have a feeling her mishap could be due to a virus or a poisoning too.

My son was down with gastro enteritis for three weeks recently because of a campylobacter (detected by blood analysis) probably from what he ate at the company restaurant. Even if you prepare your own meals, it is not a guarantee that you can't be poisoned or catch some bug. And contrary to poison, detectable by a silver needle in dramas, or by killing off a pro "taster" attendant in medieval times, such bugs take up to three weeks before wreaking havoc with the health or even life of those who caught it.

It's quicker with allergies, and I only knew that I was fiercely allergic (I mean anaphylactic shock syndrome, I was rescued from brink of death...) when I happened to eat a meal of oysters at 27 ; I have confirmed since that I absolutely cannot eat certain shellfish.

So instead of blaming her or the government or even the public and netizens, I only send my well wishes to Zhao Lusi. Can't believe the callousness of some people on the comments pages.... She is a human being, for god's sakes!

There are a lot of mixed comments, likely because this is a drama that will really depend on your expectations…
You raised Huang Jingyu's personal issue, but should then also have mentioned that the allegations against him were ruled as invalid by a court ruling when he sued for defamation. No use stamping him again and again with suspicion. But it is quite possible that some still linger with that and dislike the "muscle man" specialist. It's unfortunate that they can't appreciate just the drama which is on purpose I think still in "muddy waters" plotwise, and the characters which are not cut out as "clear"/"unclear" for most.

It was interesting to see how JCY handled the possible suspicions leading to LY. Why had she behaved like she did, hiding her covert side investigation? She could not be a prime evildoer suspect since it had been established that she too had been a murder target (although JCY saved her. Providentially , since he was not supposed to be near to watch out at the time).
<> We should now be able to rule out the actor among the suspects, after the events in episode 20. As for the rest....

To me the romance part does not seem central, not yet at least. Opposite to your view of it, my feeling about the drama is simply "police and investigation drama" with tacked-on romance that seems not to mesh much with anything, even as trigger element. My view of it is still : the main "couple" are and have been together like fish in the bowl on the table but not swimming on same side of glass... There is no steam there, none to lose. Perhaps there will be later. The main actress Sun Qian is very pretty and cuddly at times, I think rather skillful at playing an ambiguous and unclear character who may have excuses as PTSD sufferer or plain "low witted" and "uncoordinated" as she presented herself once. Johnny Huang is his usual self, softening at times his act to show that even investigators can do mistakes and be swayed by the sentimentality that is showered on them. His character is clearly not a "love at first sight" one... so he has to deal with unknown and almost alien feelings to sort out how he can react or embrace those. The two character had a brief past together but broke for no really good reason; he kept thinking of her instead of moving on, but was that love? That's as debatable as what she said about her take on "love". They are not the simple cookie-cut pair who stay together like mandarin ducks.

But if audience "on the fence" come looking for humdrum romance and steam first, then, as I mentioned tongue-in-cheek, I suggest the very flawed and jubilation-level reaching funny Embrace In The Dark Night (besides, that one is mercifully short, lol. I totally agree with the 6.0 Douban rating it achieved, btw: for such a short and over-the-top mini drama, it was and remains remarkable. I was tickled to bits by it, thinking it could become a cult item. Just for steam and not much challenge for brain - it's all muscles and sizzle in EITDN.).
