Need some Tang Dynasty knowledge here. Why do they call a woman “Xian Sheng”? Like Ping’an calling Kong Lang “Xian Sheng”? I thought Xian Sheng means Mister.

Yup that’s true it’s not Chang’an and I didn’t like the funny dialogues that much. I might be expecting something else but I’ll watch a couple more eps to see if I wanna continue. Thanks.

Thanks for the details. I usually am interested in this type of historical dramas but I find it so hard to get into Inspector He, his assistant & Ping An’s conversations. I’ll keep watching for a few more eps and see how it goes for me.

Ahh plz tell me it gets more interesting coz im on Ep 6 and it’s so boring in Lingnan. I really wanna know the story but they talk too much and nothing much happening yet. 😪

Thanks I do like a good historical drama but I’m not in the mood for a drama that’s too harsh and heavy right now. I think I still wanna watch it but when I’m in a more relaxed state of mind 🙂

I don’t know if I should continue to watch this drama. I loved the aesthetics and I love historical dramas. But I read abt the ML’s action to the FL & I really can’t accept that. Especially when I read that he showed no remorse. Like wtf I’m surprised it didn’t get a huge criticism in China.

Yeah after watching Cdramas for a long time, I knew too. Every time they put time and effort to show you a really lovable character, they’ll kill them off in the cruelest way 😩

I like the cast and the drama worked for me because of them. I do grieve for WL 😭

Oh there are bad dramas that are really frustratingly bad and then there are the ones that are so bad but so entertaining at the same time. I can’t describe in words what that feels like so you gotta watch to understand. The beginning was good but as the story progresses, you’ll start to see the weaknesses in terms of plot and acting. I’d like to recommend it since I DID enjoy the drama despite it all but I’m also afraid to recommend it in case ppl expected something better but it’s not up to their expectation.

Haha I finished this drama. It started out so promising & I missed seeing those veteran TVB actors. For whatever weird reason this is a drama that despite the actors over-acting, despite the plot being ridiculously dramatic as it progressed, I still find it entertaining to watch 🤣. It feels like a low budget drama production done by a group of uni students who just wanted to tell a Nanyang story and they talked about this plan over their holidays in Singapore 🤣 I rated it 7.0 for its pure entertainment value.

I used to like Zhongxin. I don’t know. He’s too dumb and arrogant after becoming Fengyun Hall’s leader.

I’m one of those who won’t rate until I finished watching but this drama is an exception. I’m watching 2 dramas at the same time and I’m getting more excited over Contenders than the other one that more people are watching. More people needs to give this drama a chance and if they’ve watched Sisterhood before, they would like this too.

Ep 11 is shocking wow.

I enjoyed Sisterhood their other production and am enjoying this one too. There are so many veteran HK actors in this drama.
