It started with a good balance of lightheartedness & intensity. I remember myself praising the drama for this. But after they went back to Shengdu to meet the emperor, the drama took on a different vibe. Like it suddenly turned into an epic drama-wannabe but had no idea how. The drama became Shang Yizhi if you know what I mean.
