Person Oh Jung Se
Having now watched Good Boy I'm so impressed with Oh Jung Se and this character. I already knew he was a great actor from It's Okay to Not Be Okay, but this character made me a true fan of his. Such a unique villain doesn't come along that often. He's scary and brutal but hides behind an unassuming manner and uses people's assumptions about him as a shield. Gosh I love the writer of this show so much.

There is an ongoing translation https://myldia.wordpress.com/the-tale-of-saiunkoku/
I just discovered this translation today and I'm over the moon that it exists! I real up through English summaries of books 12 or 13 five years ago, and then the summaries were so light that I stopped. Now I really hope this translator can keep going. I think in the past the full translations only made it to book 5 or 6.

How did it go for you? Did you finish it and like it? I finished Dear Honrang a few days ago and it was so dark…
You're so right about everything else seeming light in comparison! I only had time to get through episode 20 or so of Pearl girl, but I am interested in finishing it. However I did pour over the reviews of it and got some spoilers for the end, which may help you decide if you wanted to watch it. I really like both actors so I was mostly watching it for them.

Rewatching Who Rules the World for the third time, I really like Leon Lai and do want to see him in more roles. He has a presence and class to him and is great as a very intelligence character.

I heard this was a pretty dark and generally gloomy vibe, so I started the first few episodes and left off. Now that I've just finished Dear Hongrang, with Lee Jae Wook, coming back to Pearl Girl seems much less gritty than before. I do know the ending so I'm proceeding with caution. I have learned the art of skipping over scenes I don't enjoy.

Not Japanese, but there is a Korean drama, Signal, that only got a sequel over a decade later
That's true, I'm very much looking forward to Signal 2, and the fact that it's filmed 10 years later is probably even better for the story's plot.

It seems to me that he has very limited options when it comes to making decisions about anything. Unfortunately,…
Thank you very much for this information. Yes I keep thinking about Zhao Lusi and will keep praying for her.

Disney+ announced they bought the drama, but I don't know when they will release the episodes. Youku youtube avalaible…
Okay, thanks. I've never used Youku because the last time I looked there wasn't an easy way to become a member without using a QR code and device, but maybe it has changed since then. I prefer to use my desktop and not download an app to my device.

Can someone confirm that all episodes have aired on Netflex by now? It appears like they are all available based on MDL but want to verify.

I'm up to episode 25 and really enjoying this drama, though there are large swathes I'm forwarding through when the pace slows (especially the romance). I really like Angelbaby's intelligent and shrewd female lead, and Wallace Chung is fine as Chue Beiji, but Sun Yi Zhou is stealing the show as He Xia. He is smart and ruthless, good a hiding his true intentions and still inescapably connected to Bai Pingting. His scenes are my favorite and I hope to watch other shows with him. I also really enjoy the balancing act between the four nations, all on the brink of war and yet doing underhanded alliances with each other throughout the story. The "allies to enemies" and "enemies to allies" dance is very well done.

Person Angelababy
I really enjoyed Everlasting Longing. There were a few parts and the side-couple that I just skipped if I wasn't enjoying it, but by and large I really enjoyed her character's intelligence, and it's also my favorite Song Wei Long role. Very nice quality to the picture as well, and I tend to enjoy the "western clan's" culture in stories as well, even if they may not be super realistic.

Very violent from the first ep. Literal pound of flesh being removed from someone in the first ep. Also a penis…
Yeah, after some sleuthing I decided this is not the show for me.
