Title The Immortal Ascension Spoiler
I'm on EP124 of the donghua. Does Han Li ever go back to his flying boat after he obtained the "Superman"…
Tencent version of Kara Zor-El (aka Supergirl) that wears something new, never been seen before (a two-piece red cape):

https://youtu.be/hvYxaSvYyJQ?si=06zk3GcIyEhs4hv5&t=813

Contrast this to "Superman" Han Li that's just Han Li + old red rag, seems like BiliBili/Original Force didn't put too much thought into designing the "Superman" red cape of Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan...

I wouldn't mind Fanren to be the 1st 1000 episodes donghua I will have ever watched so long as it's done by the same animation studio, Original Force. This studio is extremely good. They can take any average IP and make it look stellar with spectacular visuals.

Which reminds me of that famous liner from Douluo Continent: A (true) artisan takes NOT fine materials but common materials and makes exquisite works out of them.

Like the master swordman. He wields NOT the most expensive luxurious sword you can buy from a blacksmith but a beaten up looking twig...

still no news about the ost right? 😔😔😔
Just go pirate it from AvirtualVoyage dot Net already. It's in the latest drama OST post...

This is perfectly "legal" if you plan on buying it later at your own convenience.

I doubt it. They compressed 63 episodes of the donghua down to 30 episodes of the live action. After you've seen the donghua, the drama felt super-rushed. Yang Yang will be 40 years old if they drag the pace you're suggesting.

My opinion on why the donghua is so popular for an overcrowded marketplace as xianxia fiction:

1. Most xianxia series are produced like a super-long blockbluster movie. Just action sequence after action sequence.

2. Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan on the other hand is like a virtual reality TV show -- follow the mortal to become an immortal virtual reality TV style.

2 is more refreshing than 1 in an overcrowded market place. May explain why Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan brings such HUGE profits for BiliBili in terms of subscription membership!

Drama follows the donghua to a tee. You should start from EP63. That's the teleportation goodbye old world scene.…
But that's only a little minor nuance. There are somethings that don't work when adapting a live action. They never showed Han Li learn superspeed from Li Feiyu, so in a sense, the donghua is much cooler! BUT overall, there seems to be very little variation between the live action and dongha.

TO CONTINUE BEYOND EP30 of the LIVE ACTION...

Here is the official BiliBili Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan playlist on YT (I've bookmarked/indexed the EP63 for you, the part that was covered in EP30 of the live action):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB9RnDsoyP8&list=PLBakWosU0sfhr6k1-ldCYx05AYZ8HwslC&index=113

You notice it is 100% identical to EP30 of the live action, except:

1. They want to save the death of Mo Caihuan for EP1 of S2 of the live action. If they killed her off in EP30 of S1, viewers will think Nangong Wan has no more romantic competition, and they won't be interested or come back for S2.

2. In the donghua, Mo Caihuan is seen with a young girl. At first I really thought she was her daughter. BUT NOT, she's actually her niece. This young niece is only appeared twice in the donghua, the last in EP63 so Mo Caihuan has someone to talk to before she passes away. This maybe the only difference between the donghua and live action as the epilogue of EP63 in the donghua says Mo Caihuan passed away sometime before EP64.

How so? I watched the live action shortly after I finished binge watching the donghua EP1-76. There was no MAJOR difference between the live action and donghua except, in the live action, Mo Caihuan gave Han Li the jade treasure after her family refused to hand it over. In the donghua, they never animated the part but it was assumed Han Li eventually got handed the jade from the Mo family. That was the only major thing that was different.

Also, the fatty character at Yellow Maple Valley (that didn't live/survive very long), while he did not exist in the donghua, it would looked awkward if Han Li talked to himself at Yellow Maple Valley, which is why they invented him into the live action story... They did kill him off rather quickly afterward (just one lightning bolt sent him away)

So what was ridiculous was the many girls that were pathetic like they were in heat after ML . They couldn’t…
True love is about giving not receiving. Nangong Wan is the only one to do it. She helped Han Li and even tried to look for him after Yellow Maple Valley was destroyed without expecting anything in return. Mo Caihuan on the other hand, she helped Han Li becoz she wants him to love her back. CQQ... well being saved is a form of receiving. When did she ever do anything for Han Li and expected nothing in return?

I dont really watch anime and stuff but im invested and i dont know if theyll continue this, so i was wondering…
Drama follows the donghua to a tee. You should start from EP63. That's the teleportation goodbye old world scene.

As to where to watch it, prob BiliBili official channel on YT is best. Look for uploader called Made By BiliBili that's their official YT account.

As for me I prefer to watch it in 4K, which is not available on YT, so I watch it from a different place than anyone else...

ALSO, you don't need to watch any of the parts before EP63. ALL of it was covered in the live action drama. BUT, if you do have some time to spare, you might want to check out these TWO scenes in the donghua, which were rather terribly done in the live action:

1. When they were waiting to open the portal to the hidden world to gather rare herbs, where they eventually fought each other to death over, and which (the portal) could only subsequently be re-opened every 60 years, the scene transitioned from dusk to night to dawn. It was superbly done in CGI almost surpassing Hollywood level.

2. When Senior Sister Chen summoned Han Li for a 1 on 1 private chat at Yellow Maple Valley as a final farewell. She told him she was already engaged to be married and asked Han Li if he could break the engagement and elope with her (as she rather prefer Junior Brother Han Li over some unknown/unmet suitor). That meeting actually took place in a field full of daisy flowers in the donghua. What a view to behold! It almost seemed like they poured half the budget of making the S1 of the donghua into that one scene alone!

Just finished all 30 eps of the live action. Li Feiyu? What or who is Li Feiyu? Han Li only ever used the name Li Feiyu twice:

1. As his handle when dealing with the weapons dealer (who is also the friend of his second master)

2. When dealing with the Demonic Princeling.

Even then, both knew his real name Han Li right away or near the end of the S1.

Also, he didn't intend to use Li Feiyu name to spread the fame but rather to go incognito to save his arse. That alone is a lie and betrayal to the promise he had made earlier to the real LI Feiyu.

Just started the series (as of this comment, episode 11) and thus far really enjoying it. The directing and martial…
Han LI already lost his virginity to Nangong Wan half way thru the series (this live action I mean not the novel or donghua). It's futile and also immoral to speculate he will end up with another woman. All those other girls are mainly there to add to to the dramatic tension, nothing more.

One aspect of the live drama that's superior to the donghua is, even on EP76 I have difficulty telling which female character is who.

Their faces all look so similar!

It's much easier to recognize a life real human actress face than a donghua girl face.

You can blame BiliBili for that. They don't exert much control over the outsourced animation studio's work. On the other hand, a competing work like Shrouding the Heavens from Tencent (also outsourced to the same animation studio Original Force), all the girls have distinctive looking faces. You cannot mistaken anyone of them.

Tencent been too long in the industry to realize ppl rather spent time enjoying the show than to be confused as heck which one of them girls is now in the limelight! Whereas BiliBili is a relatively new comer to donghua animations.

I'm curious about something. In the novels and/or anime, do we ever find out what happens to Li Fei Yu? He plays…
Famous my rear end. Han Li only used the Li Feiyu name once. Even then the bad guy found out that wasn't his real name. In short the REAL Li Feiyu must be weeping in heaven. BUT hey at least he tried, and that's all that counts!

Need the OST out. Best drama song of all time with Dont Ask. S2 discussion will keep the crowds growing.
go visit AVirtualVoyage dot net and read the most recent drama OST blog post. Can find the complete soundtrack of Immortal Ascension there in the best 320kbps quality MP3. Of course, you should support the artist by purchasing the soundtrack afterward (in any official distrubtion channel) if you really like it, as AVirtualVoyage is more piracy-oriented...

WHO JUST DIED? You know how all those MMO games from China go right? Every game has a lottery where the chances to win certain companion characters is extremely rare. The last (and first) time I won a rare char called "Master Jin", who's a Jianghu sword-welding fighter all dressed in white (almost like a funeral outfit), I later found out Jin Yong (which most refer to him as Master Jin) died that day. Not only that me winning "Master Jin" was a sort of jinx. My account soon got frozen by the bastard company, meaning my game char was effectively dead.

It happened a second time again in a diff account in the same MMO game from China (translated to ENG for international release). Today I won "Master Jin" by a rare fluke of "luck" in the game companion lottery system. I wonder who related to "Master Jin" in real life just died, and will my game character be jinxed again?

I love how they killed off Fatty real quick with a lightning bolt (episode 10-ish). He wasn't even in the donghua, so off he went disposed of real fast as a newly invented char only seen in the live drama.

This was going really well until he failed the test in episode 6. He was rejected because he has a fake spiritual…
LOL. This kind of thing is actually kind of cliche in Chinese dramas. You should also check out Shrouding the Heavens (the donghua), they also said the MC couldn't cultivate!

What a weak ML. He's forced to rely on artifacts, talismans and elixirs to win. He can't even use his own cultivation…
SAYS SOMEONE NEVER SEEN THE DONGHUA: Mortals realize they are weak, so they rely on artifacts, talismans and elixirs to win. They realize they have a short lifespan so they seek to cultivate immortality, etc. A mortal's weakness is his greatest strength -- I thought this was the most thoughtful insight from the donghua (these lines came exactly from the donghua episodes 70's-ish!)
