The author of Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan is trying to create the ultimate do-gooder couple, not the ultimate clingy couple where one party just can't seem to uncling to the other party.

As such all of you can dream about shipping Han Li with Mo CaiHuan (and subsequent reincarnation) all you want, tis only a dream afterall!

Seen up to EP 12 of the live action. They had to make a few changes to explain things better to the audience, but the main story thread seems to be 100% faithful to the donghua.

There were lots of parts where I thought if someone never seen the donghua, they'd be outright confused. Meaning, this drama is one of those where it's imperative to watch the donghua first if you want to truly enjoy the show and not scratch your head at what's happening.

BTW, I think all of you are spoiled rich kids living off yours or your parents' investments. How do you find the time to watch more than a couple of episodes a day?

I thought this was only one season. This isn't like Joy of Life, where we need to wait like 10 or more years for…
I dunno, the donghua anime is divided into clear arcs where the division seems to be Han Li teleports to a new world and begins a new adventure where no one from the old world got to bother him. In this sense, that division line is not something like a cliff hanger but more like a sequel.

JoL on the other hand truly ends in a cliff hanger in each season that's why you have to wait for all 3 seasons before you can truly enjoy the show. Fanren Xiu Xian chuan on the other hand, the season 1 is very... stand alone a completed work all on its own.

You can also think of it like Super Mario. At the end of 1 Mario said good bye to all his friends and began a funky new journey in 2. 2 looked and played nothing like 1. It's only in 3 when Mario bears some resemblance to 1 again. Meaning it's probably Season 3 that will tie the loose ends back with Season 1.

You Are My Glory was so stupid. The whole drama was just a big advert for Honor of Kings the MOBA game in real life.

Seriously, these gaming centric genres need to die the way of the BL genre. MMO PVP type games featured in The King's Avatar are so corny nowadays it's AAA or action adventure like Genshin Impact.

Just a fun thought... Anyone of you ever thought Han Li is actually a jinx? Everyone of them that befriended him or became his master met with a tragic fate.

Qu Hun was his best friend, became brain dead and a puppet becoz they trained together. Both his first two masters died a tragic fate. Mo Caihuan fell for him and died. Nangong Wan lost her viginity becoz she crossed fate with him. Lots of people became his friends and immediately perished.

Betcha all those ppl above, if Han Li never came into their lives, would still be kicking and alive well into their retirement age! The guy that bragged about Han Li knowing about the Immortal Token that allowed them to gain admission to the 7 sects without even trying in the live drama, he wouldn't have died if he never met Han Li, etc.

Youko representative mention that Immortal Ascension leading in brands add in, and merchandise sold in taobao…
Tencent must learn to suck it up. All their dramas except by famous authors like Liu Cixin of Three Body fame usually receive terrible to v low scores on douban.

But even average looking series from iQiyi and Youku receive better scores than them. Speaks volumes about viewers satisfaction for viewing Tencent series from the Mainland China.

Tencent however produces the best visual effects and best opening sequence in the industry. I found myself fast forwarding the entire 2 mins opening sequence of every episode of Immortal Ascension, but enjoy every frame of the opening credits of Land of Warriors.

Overall I think Tencent should STFU about other companies productions and stay far away from live adapting reknown IPs untill they do a major overhaul of themselves from the way they do things on the live action side...

only up to ep 4, but really enjoying the tone and production quality of this.
Are you kidding me? Ep 1-4 literally had me zzzzz falling asleep half way thru each episode. It's only from 5 onward where they changed things a little from the donghua that kept me fully awake.

BUT this can be said for other dramas too! Usually the first few episodes are the MOST boring where they focus on world and character building first. It's like building a car, the first few episodes they are putting all the screws of the car in place. You only get to the stunts and car chase scenes after the car has been built.

Surpassed 1.4 billion views, coming for 1.5
It becoz of Yang Yang and the word of mouth from female viewers. Since China banned the BL genre, all those "suppressed cravings for brotherly affections" from the female viewers have to go somewhere.

So I thought the donghua will last me a couple of months at least but it’s been too addictive and I’ll probably…
Don't listen to anyone of these other anime recommendations besides Ling Cage (Incarnation), which is also produced by BiliBili that made the Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan series. Most of these other series are produced by Tencent and even though they are new (aired in the last couple of years) are way inferior to their classics like Douluo Continent (Soul Land) from over 5 years ago. In fact, you're better off watching Swallowed Star (still airing) than any of these other newly aired Tencent series if you must view a Tencent series at all!

So basically my take from the Tencent productions:

Shrouding the Heavens (A+)
Swallowed Star (A+, but it's a sci-fi with cultivation-esque super powers/ ie. not hardcore xianxia)
Renegade Immortal (maybe)

Of course from BiliBili:

Ling Cage (Incarnation S1+S2) (A++/SSS)

I just finished EP 76 of the donghua hand have started watching the live action till EP3. I was right! The drama watches better after you've familiarized yourself with the donghua (less confusion, you focus more on the little nuances that are new/only shown in the drama).

Think of the donghua as the rough draft and the live action as the final polished draft. You will never appreciate the polishing otherwise!

If Fanren is Pokemon, then Digimon will have to be Shrouding the Heavens. They are both almost identical/parallel IPs (hence the Pokemon/Digimon comparison) and animated by the same studio, Original Force, except the studio answers to BiliBili for the former and to Tencent for the latter.

I mean, yes, NGW is the official wife in lore but don't forget, these things can technically be changed lol. They…
The donghua is super popular more so than the live drama. I doubt anyone wants to see divergent storylines where the donghua follows the novel closely while the live drama goes off on a tangent!

Thanks to sites like Fandom.com you can get the low down or spoilers on any work or series without having to actually…
Of course the year is 2025 soon after the birth of Deepseek (aka who needs sites like Fandom anymore?)

Q: In A Mortal's Journey to Immortality or Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan, who does Han Li eventually end up with?

Deepseek replies:

Of course. This is a central and much-discussed aspect of Han Li's journey.

In A Mortal's Journey to Immortality (Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan), Han Li eventually ends up with Nangong Wan (南宫婉).

She is widely considered his official wife and primary love interest throughout the entire story.

Here's a breakdown of their relationship and other important women in his life:

Nangong Wan (南宫婉)

· How They Met: Their relationship had an extremely unconventional start. They first met during the "Bloody Trial" in the Viper Breath沼泽, where they were forced to dual-cultivate (a form of intimate cultivation) to survive a dangerous situation. This created a powerful and awkward bond between them.
· Nature of Relationship: Their relationship evolves from one of necessity and slight resentment into deep, genuine love and mutual respect. They are true partners. Nangong Wan is also a powerful cultivator in her own right, often being his equal or even superior in cultivation level for large parts of the story.
· Challenges: Their path is never easy. They face long centuries of separation due to their cultivation journeys, political schemes (like her forced engagement to another cultivator), and the vast distances of the immortal world.
· Endgame: Despite all obstacles, their bond remains the central thread of Han Li's emotional life. They are officially married in the cultivation world and ultimately ascend together to the Immortal Realm at the end of the story, becoming a true immortal couple.

---

Other Significant Women in Han Li's Life

While Nangong Wan is the endgame, Han Li has profound connections with several other women who play crucial roles in his life:

1. Chen Qiaoqian (陈巧倩): Han Li's first crush and a source of lasting regret. She was a senior sect sister who showed him kindness. Their potential relationship was tragically cut short, and her death and unspoken feelings left a lasting mark on Han Li's heart.
2. Silvermoon (银月) / Lin Silveryue (麟银月): The soul of a Demon Beast and spirit of the Snowcloud Fox trapped in a sword, who later becomes Han Li's spirit pet and most trusted confidante. Their relationship is one of deep, platonic friendship and absolute loyalty. She understands him better than almost anyone and aids him for millennia. She eventually regains her true body and parts ways with him on good terms to pursue her own path.
3. Yanji (元瑶): A female cultivator Han Li helps multiple times. She feels deep gratitude and likely romantic feelings for him, even offering to become his dao companion. Han Li, however, remains faithful to Nangong Wan in his heart and only helps her out of righteousness and their established friendship.
4. Tian Qin'er (田琴儿): The reincarnation of Han Li's beloved master, Li Huayuan's daughter. Han Li watches over and guides her out of a sense of duty and respect for his master's memory, treating her like a daughter or junior.

Summary

Character Relationship with Han Li Outcome
Nangong Wan Official Wife, True Love Ends up together, ascend to Immortal Realm
Chen Qiaoqian First Love, Regret Deceased
Silvermoon Trusted Confidante, Spirit Pet Parts as lifelong friends
Yanji Grateful Friend, Unrequited Love Remains friends, goes her separate way
Tian Qin'er Junior/Daughter Figure (reincarnation) Guided and protected by Han Li

In conclusion, while Han Li's path is intertwined with many remarkable women, Nangong Wan is his destined partner with whom he shares a profound and enduring love that withstands the test of millennia.

I hope everyone quits complaining about the CGI. It's Youku, "small time" company with tight budget. Only rich companies like Tencent with almost unlimited budgets can afford and deliver quality CGI on par with Hollywood, and they also specialize in video games so of course CGI is their specialty.

If you guys want an example of REALLY bad CGI go watch Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities by CrotonMegaHits. Their CGI looked like done by amateurish high school kids using Microsoft Paint bundled with almost every version of Microsoft Windows instead of a professional suite like Adobe Photoshop...

Finally finished the whole 8-book series (excluding the so-called 'part 2'), god damn 2446 chapters, that took…
No romance? But in the donghua (earlier episodes somewhere between 1-26) didn't Han Li already slept with Nangong Wan becoz of the seductive gas released by the creature they killed? That counts as romance doesn't it?

Yang Yang has serious leg injury:https://inf.news/en/entertainment/067f5a2ee3bb63fcc49e69e3df178950.html(This…
IMO, I don't think they want to wait 2 years for Yang Yang to recover to do S2 of Fanren. There are lots of other projects waiting for him by then. This type of actor is not difficult to land another SS grade project! Momentum of Fanren will unnecessarily stalled.

Betcha if they substituted Yang Yang with another Yang like Yang Xuwen, who's just as popular in C-ent, or hell even Xiao Zhan which btw I'm not a fan of his, there will be virtually no backlash or complains!

Plus seeing someone like Xiao Zhan isn't even a BIG MEGA star like Wu Jing (at least not at the box office), they could recruit him for S2 of Fanren for real cheap...

(This is NOT old news but posted today Aug 25, 2025!)

I can relate. It happened to me too. First it was my left shoulder. I did a stretching exercise maybe too excessive and it started to hurt for 6 months. Then after came my left hip. I just sat on the edge of the bed watching Douluo Continent anime for 1hr. When I got up, there was an excruciating pain radiating down all the way to my toes that was ON 24/7 and lasted 2 years. I thought the pain would never go away and I didn't want to get surgery. It wasn't a mild pain either. It was the kind of pain someone with weak tolerance for pain would need to take pain killer meds.

Miraculously the pain eventually went away (with me doing absolutely nothing about it).

It was some kind of nerve impingement from the hip that made the rest of the leg in pain. Thankfully I could sort of walk and didn't need crutches like Yang Yang.

does anyone know if this will really have a season 2?
It should be green-lit soon. S1 was overwhelming success from investor's perspective. Why wouldn't they put down more money for S2?
