Um, it's cute. I like that it's light on the inner monologues & over the top "comedy" but I don't really think it pulls on the beautiful emotional drama that some of the other Japanese BL's have.
I think the chemistry between the ML's is a little...far off? Way over there? IDK. The subs say "love" but I can't think that that's right. It just seems too shallow at this stage?
I'm OK with Soga voicing his confusion because I think that would be an understandable reaction. I get, & am disappointed, that the writers feel a pop up ex is needed...lazy writing? And I'm happy that we have a rare female character in a BL that is not a shitty bitch. I really like the best friend & their friendship.
I was a little surprised that they showed a couple of seconds of intimacy with the ex. Not necessarily a fan of this type of "imagination" that some writers/directors think we need to see to understand.
Allow me to mention the obvious, which is that Strongberry startlingly out-performs in writing, directing, & acting with their mere 20 minutes & if I were the other companies I'd be very worried that one day Strongberry will receive enough funds that would ultimately lead to my demise.
Strongberry picks these incredible actors & gives them this awesome script & the actors show up & kill it EVERY TIME & that is the effin tea.

I think Strongberry has an amazing talent for telling quite an amazing story in only 20 minutes. But it's subjective...saying 20 minutes isn't enough time for a good story is implying a longer run time guarantees the good one. We both know that's a lie though LOL. The foundation was kinda sorta set. Supers are being bought & sold, AKA child trafficking. Some have escaped & decide at some point that they will try to take down the bad guy. The unnecessary race car driving hobby took up too much screen time & in the end had nothing to do with anything except bring all the current "escapees" to the same place of employment. It could have been a Chick-fil-A but the uniforms wouldn't have been stylish & body-hugging.
I am all for NC scenes but you're right...the plot has to exist. I don't necessarily need it to be a good plot btw...just that it is present.
A shitty kiss btw can kill some of the thin storylines too. I am a fan of all the other declarations of love that don't need saliva...forehead kiss, sniff kiss, hug, hand holding, cuddling. Hell, sometimes the high five could have worked better. And really, at the end of the day, most of my faves had very little, if any, intimate scenes.
With that said, I didn't know how much I needed to see Pavel's "O" face until we were graced with it & I thank them very much for the presentation BUT...like you, I want the story.
Fan service can be cute, provided all are comfortable with it, but the end game is that they sell me on whatever story they're supposed to. As actors...this is their job. I also feel that they totally went the false advertisement way with this fan service. Shipping all of them has been bullshit & raised expectations for the storyline, acting, & ships. I have been waiting on North/Sonic, was excited for Alan/Jeff, & didn't give a rats ass about anyone else. They were the only 2 ships I felt had chemistry IN THE SHOW. Clearly, Kenta & Kim is a joke & Pete/Way is undernourished.

It had potential at some point but I think I kinda felt silly as soon as it was clear that they "escaped" from the house down the street & can go back & forth, in & out of it like they're grocery shopping. The whole storyline just has so many unanswered questions that could just take 1 sentence to explain or a 30 second flashback...just any info would work LOL. Instead of showing us every time the ML's hooked up, questions could have been answered...IDK.
