Hey, I have only read 2 web novels (one korean and one chinese) and am currently reading my third but it is also chinese, judging by the ones I have decided to read till the end (which are “two faced buddha” - the one “to my shore” is based on, and the web novel for “Payback” ) I kind of think I know the type you are looking for. The one I am reading now that really got me is called “Alpha Predator” by a chinese author. It is a toxic/intense push-and-pull, complicated power dynamic, emotionally messy relationship, and “I hate you but can’t let you go” comes from both sides. It is also the first omegaverse novel i am reading but i find that kind of world really interesting. To me this novel displays a brutal fight for trust, (it has a few episodes if intense explicit scenes just as good or even better than Payback, To my shore was a bit more gentle on this aspect) and the redemption is slow, satisfying and equal to the initial display of power. If you like this kind of dynamic, where one is very possesive and domineering and the other a bit more restrained but stubborn and resilient … i think it’s a good match. For far all these 3 eeb novels I mentioned are a solid 10/10 for me. If you decide to read it too, let me know what you think, I would love to hear it ❤️

it was faaaaaaaaar more satisfying in the book. That would have required 2 seasons and would have been exceptional. But I liked their acting here.. kind of what i imagined in the book their personalities would be depicted like.

oh and the music...

maaaaan I still remember that scene where she has a crisis a crosses the street and like.. he is stunned that she gets up and starts laughing and crying in shock... Still love this drama to this day.

I noticed in the comments people are really upset about how this drama is going especially because of the villain here. I can tell you they did they best they could to not shock people but also keeping the main direction: "what kind of f**ek up weirdos roam the industry?"

The original book (donno about the webtoon on which the series is based, did not read that) has a much more harder to digest take on it. It is extremely graphic (nothing is implied, it is all out in the open, vividly gut-wrenching). I am happy, TRULLY, happy they kept the series low on this matter.. really. So, to those upset, again.. they did their best to reduce the shock of it all.

Yeah, I know... not trying to say that these matters should not be revolting because that is the main point of it, but if anything, the series does an exceptional job pointing out the revolting stuff, it is not the series which people should be upset about.

Is the makeup bad or did they try to cover real life actress beating? She seemed to be injured near her eye. I am talking about the one in the drama they are shooting.

Can't remember exactly which ep from the novel they had this, it was different though, some minor changes. Like someone said, the series is adapted from the manhwa .. But if you want to read the novel (which i do highly recommend) try Publang.

Oh, i see . I only read the novel and that one is fire all over it. I personally prefer Jay a bit more like in the book.. speaks for the character better (given his childhood and all the stuff he did as a child would match his actions better) but the Jay here just melts my heart...

I will always recommend "To my shore". It is the first BL series i saw and the first BL i've read... it raised my standards for BL so much I am in shock I still managed to find Payback and love it after getting absorbed into To my shore.. I also tried "Sammy's children's day" but I am not done with it yet.
Please keep in mind "To my shore" (or "Four faced Buddha" ) is a massive red flag ...turning into a complete mess but you will not be disappointed. It is beyond everything you end up feeling.

My extra effort is used for accepting only 10% of the hotness described in the book is being used for the series and learning to live with it :))
I love this series even though they changed so much from it, I get it..10 eps is short to do all the story. I still think they did excellent..

Yep. Their intimate scenes are the hottest most explicit ones I’ve read. And I thought “to my shore” has a dirty book.. boy was I wrong :)))) Also, the actor who plays Sun is 100% accurate in my opinion. Now imagine the one playing Jay comes off as soft compared to the book

there was NOTHING as dirty as this book, I swear... I don't even care they are skipping things in the series, I am just happy to see something inspired by it. :))))
