📣 Why "Sea of No Return" Deserves the Most Legendary Tragic Ending Ever Made Let me start by saying that I absolutely HATE sad endings. Usually, I watch dramas wanting everyone to be happy, safe, and together. On top of that, Li Yunrui is my absolute favorite Chinese actor, and I also really like Liu Xiening, so my natural instinct was to pray for a fluffy, happy ending for them. But after analyzing the plot, the family blood feud, and the literal title of this show, I realized a standard happy ending would pull too many punches. This setup demands a grand, unforgettable tragedy. I think the script below is the absolute perfect ending for this drama. It uses the raw, desperate energy of a classic heartbreak edit, a hidden pregnancy, and a double-poisoning to create a historical landmark of angst.Even though it breaks my heart to say it, I don't want a happy ending or a slightly sad ending for this show anymore. I want this legendary ending because it is a true masterpiece.Check out my full final episode script below and let me know what you think🎬 Sea of No Return (《归良辰》) — The Legendary Alternate Tragic EndingLogline: The ultimate double-death tragedy. Murong Wanwan unwittingly executes the husband she loves, only to discover the cruelest truth about their unborn child right as the poison takes her own life.⚔️ PART 1: The Wine of No Return[Setting:]The grand imperial hall is dead silent. Cold moonlight streams through the lattice windows, casting long, sharp shadows. A silver flask and two jade cups sit on a low table. Yuwen Liangshi (Li Yunrui) sits calmly, his robes immaculate, while Murong Wanwan (Liu Xiening) stands across from him, holding her imperial sword.Wanwan has discovered his ultimate betrayal—his plot to dismantle her family's dynasty. To save her kingdom, she must eliminate him. But instead of fighting him, she pours a cup of poisoned wine. It is the lethal "Sea of No Return" poison.YUWEN LIANGSHI(Looking down at the cup, then up at her with a gentle, knowing smile)You poured this for me.MURONG WANWAN(Her hand shakes violently, tears spilling over her lashes)You left me no choice. You used my love to tear down my world. Drink it, Yuwen Liangshi. End this war.YUWEN LIANGSHI(He stands up slowly. He doesn't look angry; he looks completely at peace. He picks up the cup.)I told you once... I would conquer the world for my family's grudge. But I never told you that the moment I fell for you, the world meant nothing to me anymore. If my death buys your peace, I will gladly cross this sea.(He drinks the wine in one smooth motion. The jade cup drops from his hand, shattering on the stone floor. The poison takes hold instantly. He stumbles back against a pillar, collapsing onto the cold floor, completely paralyzed as blood spills from his lips. He lies there, silently waiting for his final breath.)💔 PART 2: The Cruelest Truth(Grieving and unable to live in a world without him, Wanwan picks up the silver flask. She drinks the remaining poison to join him in death. She lies down right beside him, pulling his cold arm around her waist, ready to close her eyes.)Suddenly, the heavy palace doors burst open. Her loyal personal maid runs inside, panting, crying, and holding an official medical scroll.MAID(Screaming in absolute terror, throwing herself on the floor)Your Highness! Your Highness, stop! Don't touch the wine!MURONG WANWAN(Her voice is a weak, fading whisper)It is... too late. I am going... to be with him.MAID(Wailing violently, grabbing Wanwan's shoulders)No! You can't die! The physician just finished checking your blood records! Your Highness... you are pregnant! You are carrying Lord Liangshi's child!😭 PART 3: Total Despair (The "Please Don't Leave Me" Sequence)(The slow, tragic string music sharply drops into a deep, echoing silence. The camera cuts back and forth between their faces, capturing a level of raw agony that shatters the audience.)Li Yunrui’s Heartbreak: Yuwen Liangshi freezes. His eyes widen in pure, unadulterated horror. He is physically paralyzed, unable to speak, but a single, heavy tear tracks through the blood on his cheek. He uses his absolute last ounce of human strength to painfully drag his trembling hand across the cold stone, desperately trying to reach her stomach. But his fingers fall short. He is forced to die knowing his own child is perishing because of their war.Liu Xiening’s Desperation: Wanwan completely loses her mind. Her peaceful smile turns into pure horror. She claws at her throat, trying to fight the poison, but it is too late. She crawls the tiny distance between them, throwing herself over his chest. The Final Cry: Clutching his face with her trembling, blood-stained hands, she screams into his fading eyes:MURONG WANWAN(Screaming violently, her voice cracking with raw terror)Please don't leave me! Hold on! I still want you... Come back, I still need you! Save our baby! Liangshi!!!(As his eyes finally glaze over and his head falls to the side, her strength completely fails. She collapses sideways, her hand resting over her womb, while her other hand remains tightly locked with his fingers. Her breathing stops.)🎞️ PART 4: The Final Memory FlashbackThe camera slowly pulls up to the ceiling, leaving the two lovers frozen in the dark, cold palace hall. The screen sharply transitions to a warm, golden, sunlit memory from their past. The Flashback: A beautiful afternoon in the royal garden. Yuwen Liangshi is gently placing his hand over Wanwan's stomach, smiling softly—the genuine, radiant smile his fans love the most. He kisses her forehead and whispers about how much he wants to build a quiet, ordinary family with her in the future. The beautiful memory sharply cuts to black. The drama ends in absolute, heavy silence. No music. Just the sound of the cold wind.
