Omg I missed 10 episodes by mistake, I mixed up this drama with another one which imo was trash... Ooooh time to catch up!!!!
So this is Park Seo Joon comeback drama? I missed him all these years, what was he doing... ? Well this drama might be worth watching just for him then. I am gonna watch. He is a great comedian.... etc.
I started ep 1 and it is great, I love it - except alcohol. Korea definitely has a problem with it. And FL too... And except hair in ML's eyes. I want to see his eyes. i also want to feed FL, she is so skinny. And I am concerned about all these "psychiatric pills" so common in kdramas now.. eeek

ML and FL actors are amazing, and the script seems tight so far. Yay.

Yes, I agree... different people make different choices based on the same conditions.... bc of who they are. "Whatever is in the pot, leaks out"..... Or, the trauma could be too much and makes a normal person flip out and become a monster. Like... "Lonesome Dove" boy captured and tortured by Apaches. BGT was (born?) and raised in Japan ... so he definitely experienced mistreatment... Plus... was he one of the 5 mil that Japanese colonizers moved during WW2 and before as forced labor...? was he related to Korean comfort women for Japanese soldiers... ? who knows... but in any case, BGT has seen oppression and his response was to become an oppressor LOL His sister is a dumb criminal, and his brother seems more righteous so far, but is ambitious and a great liar and backstabber too. They are aware there is a system and it is to be cheated.

I also expected BGT to throw a bomb into that Vietkong tunnel hole... bc that historially happened... Logically, it was too weird and dangerous to have bulky tall BGT going alone into the tunnel. That job is for "tunnel rats." It must be BGT who slashed the throat of someone in the tunnel... so he did show that attitude "I do whatever".

He sent about 320,000 S Koreans to Vietnam war and they were known as brutal towards the civilians there... Well nothing new if they thought of Vietnamese as "lesser," since Korean commoners were brutally treated by the nobles, per historical kdramas .... The catch 22: .... the same guys were elected then and later anyways LOL .e.g. Park's friends and daughter was later presidents... Luckily, S Korea has a "delicate but resilient democracy" and S Koreans are known for jailing, impeaching, and fining their corrupt presidents.... The list of top 14 economies in the world got me thinking bc the countries listed are NOT all know for good standards of living. We all tend to think of Mexico and Brazil as poor but there they are, in the top.... The USA is now offically a flawed democracy witih standard of living globally rated as 15 if you dont consider inequalty, and 27th in the world if you do consider inequality LOL SO FOR ALL PRACTICAL PURPOSES, THE USA IS NOT #1 BY FAR. In 2017, under Trump, fast under the radar, Republican Congress increased taxes a lot for everyone but the ultra rich and reduced a lot / got rid of taxes for ultra rich... but .. the standard of living fell down... they cut out all kinds of public funds... increased war-related spending... So ... how was Trump elected in 2024 ...??! LOL that says a lot about that country....
Small business and middle class were mostly destroyed...
Now owning property is going away, as there is an EPIDEMIC OF STEALING HOMES, esp HOA and condos ... but private houses too... and HOAs use owners as cash cows.... and all under the pretense of the law and the bad guys using legal system to shut up ppl talking about it... Add to that Tinder app and their ads plastered EVERYWHERE for "your love for the night" and billboards in big cities about epidemics of SYPHILIS, !!!! yeah did you expect that... ? AIDS, every third american has genital herpes, etc etc.... Add to that about 50% not marrying and most married divorcing after 2-3 years and most kids growing with a single mom... The USA looks very much like movie Idiocracy (2006) and a lot worse bc of drugs... I loved the voice over as soon as ep 5 starts :) He spoke about same causes for war and him a soldier being the fodder for someone else to rise. He is so smart! How come he did not continue to be that smart... ?

And I can see the pain that shaped him. But, he lost the faith in Higher Power, so unlike lillies in the field...
It is good to know how to self defend, but it is an absolute NO to grabbing from others. Yeah yeah ppl then engage in bsing how this or that is self defense but anyone with some iq knows what is right and what is wrong. Nobody escapes the Law of Karma aka Judgment.

This drama is only about ignoramuses who grab and their grabbing fights. There is only one decent character and he is a naive fool. The drama is made to show that evil is always more powerful. I like that ppl in this drama communicate so the plot moves faster than usual mud slow :) There is no way to tell where it goes from here :) except that the twins will swap .... And I suspect "First Man" is bc the first man they met is their man - Rich Twin with the Cook and the Cook Twin with the Lawyer. They match better that way

And so after all those years of being her faithful sidelined abused secret husband....

Also, that Hot Pants Prof has two sons who are tangled up with the twins... and Evil She doesnt know it :) yet :) The Prof will have to figure out his loyalties and probably will mess up his sons - or maybe help them... We will see..

This started as a simple heartwarming nice fluffy rom com, a REAL rom com seems like.

I predict that many ppl will enjoy this positive uplifting vibe. Bc the actors are good and the script seems on track, i.e. healthy is the name of the game. The start is creative and unique.
The ML is written as an honest confident warm guy. He is not super polished but ... he is smart where it matters. He is very kind and communicates. FL is written quite well, she is smart, active, and responds to communication, and FL actress is a great comedian.
Ep 1 is about healthy productive adults - well with some quirks and flaws LOL that are getting fixed already :) Hopefully this drama stays on track.

FL in this drama changed already in ep 1 ... for example, black to beige.... ML and FL communicate and solved problems together... for example, the late night meeting and the door...
ML in this drama is an open straight communicator, he is already telling her where they met etc ... FLopenly communicates too, for example told him she was afraid of being stabbed ... then he hornestly ressponded witt taking off that ... glove LOL

So... with both ML and FL being active and self learning and communicating like that, the drama can have many more plots and twists that will be interesting

So far the trope detector did not beep :) LET US PRAY the drama stays fresh and creative!!!!

FYI for all rom com lovers who felt disappointed recently about Dynamite Kiss - my 2 cents worth: it was toxic and flawed from the start bc it was based on the obsolete tropey script of "overbearing boss and his powerless weak underling." FL was written as the typical tropey FL... an insecure scared willingly-self-made-loser who NEVER communicates truthfully
And ML was written as a typical tropey ML, all cruel, controlling, etc
FL was just a super weak and DULL person... she was really mentally off, a child in adult body. Her only charm was to jump fast into the sack... but then run out without saying goodbye.... and all the lies and scheming and lack of communication and her dumping ML at any excuse and running away was already obvious at the very beginning....
and then it just kept going downhill. There was never any learning. FL stayed the same, and her darling too....
and the script went through the checklist of ALL TROPES... plus it promoted obsolete value system, like a loser woman lying non stop and an overbearing boss doing sexual harassment at work "bc he loves her" etcetcetc..... so the drama got super repetitive boring and imo quite evil and negative.
