The first two cases(8.6/10) were well structured and edited, but I started losing interest from the third case(7.9/10) onward. Also I know this is a FL centric drama, but I’m disappointed with the ML’s character. Even though there’s some mystery surrounding him, he still feels underwhelmingly weightless.

Title Summit of Our Youth Spoiler
It was better than I expected, and I didn’t really have an issue with the ending being revealed as a dream. What I didn’t like was how they suddenly flipped the SML into a villain out of nowhere. Cause after making him a villain and brushing it off as “just a dream” felt disappointing. They should’ve handled the SML’s role better in the final part instead of taking that route.

Mingyi begins deceiving JBZ because she must hide her identity and because she initially believes he is evil.…
Yeah, you could say that. She’s basically blinded by everything going on in her life. She might be the God of War, but when it comes to handling emotions, she struggles. Even though she’s good at reading people, she never gave SL any real attention, but that didn’t stop him from trying to force his way into her life. Also, I don’t know if you know this, but they cut four episodes from the final version, so in some scenes it can feel like you’re missing context.

Title Love in the Clouds Spoiler
Mingyi begins deceiving JBZ because she must hide her identity and because she initially believes he is evil.…
I have some free time, so I’ll just talk a lot.

By Episode 13, MY isn’t sure about her feelings and never really lets herself think about what JBZ means to her. Her mind is on one thing only: finding a cure, healing herself, and going back to Yaoguang Mountain to reclaim her position as Crown Prince. Her loyalty is with her mother and her realm, and that never wavers.

By Episode 17, the red thread forces her to feel JBZ’s pain, and that’s when she starts to understand her feelings a little better, even though she doesn’t want to. She has no choice. She’s willing to risk her life for him, but that still doesn’t change her plans. If she survives, she intends to return to the world she belongs to.

At this point, JBZ became an important person to her, but her mother is her entire world. She relies on her deeply, and that isn’t going to change anytime soon.

As for SL, yes, he’s annoying from the start, but many people think his character shift doesn’t make sense and call it bad writing. In reality, his character doesn’t flip overnight or suddenly turn evil. He grows up in a family obsessed with power and control, and because he’s born without spiritual veins, he’s treated as useless and constantly bullied. That experience messes him up badly. His desire for power never disappears, it’s just suppressed until he meets Mingxian.

To SL, Mingxian becomes the image of everything he wants to be: strong, respected, untouchable, that image became his anchor. His motivation, confidence, and sense of purpose all end up tied to her. The story even makes it clear that everyone born in that family is twisted in nature in one way or the other.

Seeing her vulnerable only turned his unhealthy dependence into a chaotic obsession, So when he saw her falling in love with JBZ, it really broke him. His delusion kinda slowed down his descend into madness but it was inevitable.

When MY meets SL before the tournament, she relates to his suffering and tries to guide him, not knowing what he’s really like.

Later, when they meet again she tolerates him for simple reasons: he helped her avoid questions about how she killed the netherbeasts; she still sees him as a troubled younger brother who needs guidance; and she’s stuck in enemy territory, where having someone from the other side on her team is necessary for survival. So she never actually encouraged him, it was all his own delusion. Her focus was never on him enough to truly understand who or what he was; she only saw him as a troubled kid.

I am on ep 13 and I think the FL went too far deceiving him. And she is still lying. I don’t think she actually…
Mingyi begins deceiving JBZ because she must hide her identity and because she initially believes he is evil. She keeps the secret that Mingxian is a woman as if her life and her mothers life depends on it, since her mother told her never to reveal it to anyone. She refuses to tell even her master, whom she considers the second most important person in her life after her mother.

It is sad that she is deceiving JBZ, but she is not playing with him. Both of them grew up carrying trauma, and that trauma shaped them into the people they are now.

In episode 13, she is ready to unleash her spiritual power after Mu Qibai hurts her spirit pet. However, JBZ intervenes, giving her a moment to breathe, and she chooses to observe instead.

In front of the marriage stone, she tries to stop JBZ from carving her name, but he is hell-bent on doing it for his own reasons. It is not a completely selfless act. Mingyi has helped him repeatedly against Mu Qibai, making her useful to him, and carving her name can be seen as a way for him to repay her for that help. Even though she assists him primarily to find a cure, the fact remains that he benefited from her actions. At the same time, he also wants to find out whether Mingyi truly loves him.

Her decision not to reveal the truth is an act of self-protection. Yes, it is deception, but the truth is tied to her mother, and she is not willing to take that risk. She grew up hiding the truth from every ear and eye, making it both physically and mentally impossible for her to reveal it on her own.

Title Shine on Me
guys someone on twitter said "Zhang guy is gonna be the next Situ Ling of cdramas 😭" "at least…
Zhuang Xu is a typical male lead, he comes from a poor background and falls in love with a rich girl. The girl is content with her life and has no desire to strive for greatness, while Zhuang Xu, having grown up without the luxury of choice, is driven by a need to earn the right to choose his own future. Her lack of ambition directly clashes with the very force that motivates him, making him unable to love her with confidence.

In any other drama, this might have led to a time skip where the poor boy makes it big, reunites with the rich girl through a collaborative project, and the two slowly rediscover each other before reaching a happy ending.

I’m on episode 13, and while every episode has good cliffhangers, something feels missing for me. The suspenseful outcomes are kind of obvious even before the investigation begins, and I don’t think they try to hide it. The drama is more focused on finding the evidence, which I like, but I don’t feel the usual pull that an investigative drama has. Maybe it’s because I’ve watched too many investigative dramas, or the acting, or the characters, or something else, but I’ll still continue watching because I’ve heard good things about this drama, and I’m waiting to see if I’ll find the same.

And also is the female lead a princess undercover as a prince like from a different kingdom or smtg like I’m…
Yes, she is undercover in Jixing Abyss to find the GDM and cure the Heavenly Grief poison. She thought JBZ was the one to poison her because the poison flared and her spiritual veins were messed up when she was fighting JBZ, so she believed he would have the antidote. Because he visits the entertainment house like it’s his house, she sold herself and got close to him.

Wait who is yan xian and like the guy HES working for called lordship or smtg and why r they tryna like sabotage…
The surface-level reason is that JBZ and the princess’s partnership poses a threat to his power to control the realm.

But the real reason is that JBZ wasn’t born with spiritual veins, but now he has them, and because of that, he was suspected to have used Heavenly Grief(poison) to gain the spiritual veins and Golden Millet Dream to cure the poison. They want the Golden Millet Dream; hence, they first tried to get him on their side. But because JBZ refused, they are spying on him to find the GDM. Later, they realized that he might be connected to Bo Yu Lan, whom they tortured and killed in trying to obtain the GDM, and understood that JBZ is here for revenge.

I am finding this intriguing but the FL is very childish I prefer strong FL’s still trying to make it through…
Childish? Mmm. Everything she does is backed by her own reasoning. The FL suffers from an identity crisis. She conditioned herself to act a certain way when she was disguised as a man, but now that she’s living as a woman, she doesn’t know how to be her true self. Everything she does comes from what she observed and mimicked in the entertainment house. She believes she can gain his attention by acting cute and silly, but also smart and loyal. She adopts that persona because she thinks it’s the only way she can open his heart and get close to him. As the story unfolds and their relationship evolves, she slowly discovers herself. She’s already mature and strong, so there’s nothing to comment on about that. If you’re asking about her silliness, then yes, she does stop being unnecessarily silly. But I wouldn’t actually call it unnecessary, because it serves the character, and I also like her silly side.

Good story and great concept, but most of the time it felt like the actors in this drama were simply delivering their lines rather than reacting to the situations their characters were in. But anyway, I still enjoyed the drama.

Second lead's feelings are totally one-sided, and yeah, the main couple breaks up a few times.
SL does try to come between the couple multiple times, but he fails completely and is never the cause of the misunderstandings they go through. However, he does become a major focus in the second half of the series.

What really? There is a clear enemy Mu Qi Bai, various attempts to like kill him or whatver. But what’s really…
Mingyi sees JBZ as an enemy because she believes he was the one who poisoned her, and their realms are already at odds. As warriors, they are naturally considered enemies.

I'm curious What kind of reaction are you expecting from JBZ?JBZ doesn’t trust anyone because of everything…
The thought of her being an enemy had already faded, and they even showed that during the conversation between JBZ and Buxiu. He stopped seeing her as an enemy, which is why he allowed himself to trust her and allowed himself to fall for her. He broke the rules he set for himself again and again for Mingyi, and Mingyi witnessed it happen. He made it clear that he trusted her and that he no longer saw her as a threat and if she is willing they could have life together after his revenge.

He grew up in a prison and had no guidance.

"So honestly what kind of reaction are you expecting from him?"

During the carving, he wanted to know whether Mingyi had even a bit of love for him, and every lightning strike only made him think that she didn’t.

As for your question, if he didn’t love her, then of course his reaction would have been more controlled and not an outburst. Whether Mingyi loved him or not wouldn’t have mattered to him. His outburst of anger itself showed his love, it showed that he was hurt. It is his first time loving someone, his first time dealing with such emotions. So the outburst as his first reaction makes complete sense to me, and if you perceive it as hypocritical, then yes, it is hypocritical.

Can someone explain.. I'm on episode 13. ji Bozai carved their names on the stone even though MingYi told him…
I'm curious What kind of reaction are you expecting from JBZ?

JBZ doesn’t trust anyone because of everything he has been through. But he allowed himself to trust Mingyi, even though he knew she was hiding a few things, because he genuinely felt her sincerity from time to time. What he didn’t expect was for her to be from Yaoguang Mountain. That changes everything, because to him it suddenly means she could be just like everyone else who approached him for the GDM. That is a deeply sensitive spot for him. In episode 12, he even tells her that he decided and if she is willing he could make their marriage a reality, but now she could suddenly be his enemy.

Title Love in the Clouds Spoiler
I think JBZ and Ming Yi will live together in the Wugui Sea because JBZ is no longer the crown prince, and as…
I don't know why you keep saying it's an open ending when everyone who has completed the drama already knows it's an open ending, and I never said it wasn’t. I just shared my own conclusion of one possibility based on what I understood, and I could very well be wrong.

JBZ treats Buxui as a friend and as his equal, not someone who is serving him. JBZ wants Buxui to learn, explore, and maybe even live like a human, so him going on a journey is completely possible.

JBZ doesn't care if his mother is an empress or not. I don’t remember her becoming an empress again. JBZ only requested the emperor to spare her. In the final episode, I only remember him saying she was pardoned and lifted from her confinement.

To command the warriors during the tournament, JBZ doesn’t have to be a crown prince. He can still command and train them as the strongest warrior who has reached the perfect stage. Being trained by someone who not only reached the perfect stage but also saved the six realms is an honor no warrior would reject.

Before JBZ, Yaoguang Mountain didn’t have a crown prince for almost a year, and the emperor wasn’t shown as someone in a hurry to appoint one. The Zhushui Spiritual State didn’t have a crown prince for years. Him denying the crown prince seat doesn’t mean he is irresponsible, and his voice already possesses authority without him needing to be the crown prince.

The commentary in the final episode about JBZ wanting to remain a warrior in the warrior ranks is there so the audience knows what’s happening, not just a scene spreading rumors about future possibilities in the middle of a gathering.

The question that was asked, and the one I responded to, was “Where are they going to live?” and Wugui Sea made more sense to me.

Well, anyway, no matter what happens, Ming Yi and JBZ are never breaking the creed “live together and die together.”

I don’t remember the exact wording, but 27 says something like, “After the tournament, you’ll be roaming around the realms and you won’t get another chance to eavesdrop… Right now, your master is facing his greatest trial…”
The “trial” referred to the proposal, and JBZ wasn’t included in the roaming plan; I think it was meant only for Buxiu. As for the crown prince position not remaining vacant for long, I don’t think JBZ cares about it. Maybe he’s still the crown prince, maybe not, but JBZ definitely doesn’t like living away from Ming Yi, and now that she has accepted his proposal, nothing after the tournament can really stop him from living with her.

One question. Why can’t she just tell Ji Bo Zi that she was dying???!!!! 😩😩😩😩 Like dude is smitten…
I mostly agree with what wowwow said, and I want to add something to it.

Ming Yi’s way of understanding love is very different. She grew up receiving affection from her mother only when she was useful. In episode 1, she literally begs her mother, insisting she’s “still useful.” The same pattern appears with JBZ she first earns his trust through her usefulness, and throughout the drama she repeatedly says, “I’m still useful to him.”

This mindset is deeply rooted in her. But JBZ’s love slowly starts to shift her perception. For the first time, she realizes she can be loved, and that being useful isn’t the condition for it. Also, She has an identity crisis, she doesn’t even know who she truly is. She was still in the middle of discovering herself.

That’s why she’s terrified of facing him as a liar. His love gives her a comfort she has never experienced, but it also introduces a fear she doesn’t know how to handle. Stealing the GDM felt like the easier choice because if she takes it, she can return to being Ming Xian and Ming Yi, the girl who was loved, will disappear. And for someone who has always believed she is loved only when she’s useful, she genuinely thinks he will forget her once she’s gone.

Of course, there are many layers to her decisions, but simply put, her mind was tangled in a whirlwind of unfamiliar fear. In episode 26, when JBZ tells her “being honest isn’t hard,” she finally begins to open up. Even after that she still needed more time before she could be completely honest with him.

I interpreted JBZ’s reaction when he caught her stealing a bit differently. The way he questioned her felt like he was hoping she would deny it or give him a reason he could hold on to. But Ming Yi is someone who accepts the consequences of her actions, so she didn’t offer excuses. She accepted death.

I wanna start this but I don’t do good with sadness. Does the conflict last for a few episode or is it resolved…
They won’t be resolved quickly, but when it comes to the sad parts, the drama gives enough happy moments to balance them out, leaving you with a contented heart.

Ming Yi is quite complicated. As a viewer, you might feel frustrated and think she’s making foolish choices, but once you truly understand her, you can’t help but feel sad for her.

JBZ is also a complicated character, but i think his complexity is much easier to see compared to Ming Yi’s.
