I paused this at episode 5 to wait so I could binge, but y’all- IG edits is making it so difficult!

10 episodes makes me want to 😫. The novel is so good! I’m looking forward to this drama’s portrayal, but 10 25-min episodes feels too short. They’re doing well with the time constraints. I like how they’re unfolding the murder-corruption story.

Read more and you’ll see even more clearly why he treats Chaeha so coldly. He’s not just mocking him because he’s a “murderer’s son.” There’s a personal reason.

It really is a well-written story, with a well-written script, with well-selected cast by a well-selected director. Dear Korea: Please keep this momentum- both in this drama and future dramas to come.

He’s already attracted to him and his drunken state plus the close proximity of Taeseon and his inhibitions are gone. Plus Taeseon kissed him earlier- in anger, yes, but he still kissed him, meaning he isn’t against men. And there’s a lot of sexual tension between them, slowly building to that point.

Today’s episodes- Why are their Korean signs? Does this actually take place in Korea but only Chinese people go to the bar? Why is the money USD? Just a Chinese person dropping stacks of $100 USD in a bar in Korea…

The Ai music and non-matching lip sync is still something I have to fast forward. This series is a hot mess of a train wreck. Still. Why am I watching? When is this sick sister supposed to appear? Why is the acting so…? Dear Editor…why? Why is the “villain” so tame? Now we have suggestions of pedophilia? I can’t. I will absolutely drop if they expand on this particular vein in more detail.

This series is painful to watch. And there are SIXTEEN episodes of this. When other, better series airing only get 8-10. Where is the JUSTICE?! 😫😫😫

I didn’t save any of the videos. Nor didn’t like them. The edits of edits of edits was a lot of drama that filled my algorithm because I liked a few Knot trailers. I’m not interested in searching them up because I absolutely do not want them back in my algorithm after working so hard to push them out.

I actually like Boat and Oat and enjoyed the emotion and acting in My Stubborn- not simply the NC scenes. I appreciated the character development of someone growing a backbone and putting someone “in their place” after they did you wrong- true Scorpio style imo. I’m hoping Knot develops more into an actual story with some depth. I don’t think they deserve the brand they have now as this cp willing to do these types of nc scene stories. It’s a disservice to them.

Saying all that-

I honestly don’t care about what was said enough NOT to watch the series so far (no pun intended). I also concede that it is possible that those edits were people who don’t speak Thai or who translated it falsely for those of us who don’t, since he came out with his apology. I wasn’t there, nor did I watch the livestream “live” where these comments were supposedly made. But I can’t really help that it also stayed in the back of my mind and was recalled as I watch this- especially episode 3. I kind of wish I had or read the novel before the series aired. Then I could have taken it at face value. Alas, I’m impatient. I did the same with ABO Desire. But that script matched very closely with the novel, so I had. issues with it.

I am hoping the industry comes out with more BL Omegaverse genre dramas. But I’m also hoping they’re good quality. I’ve read some pretty good Omegaverse manhwas that would make really good series, NC scenes or not. I am immersed in the stories and find myself skipping nc scenes for these quite a bit because the world building and characters are fascinating to me. I think Japan should have a go at them (it’s their turn, right?)- I’m imagining a non-fluffy drama Japan-style. One day.

But...it's not a BL...Why would they kiss? It's got that Bromance tag by itself without that Gay Romance tag, which means in MDL terms, it's that platonic Bromance.

By saying "to each their own", I am simply saying that our opinions, while different, are both valid and that I'm accepting that yours is different from mine. No hidden meaning, judgement, or anything like that. Just face value, I guess.

For me - I've shared what I think about it so far based on my expectations not being met. This also includes the negative statements Oat made about the drama and the Omegaverse genre which was all over my SNS feed for a while leading up to his apology. I can't help but think of it while watching, because those were his real thoughts about it before the backlash. This is in the back of my mind while watching and experiencing the issues I've mentioned in my spoiler comment above.

Please do not let the 7.6 rating fool you and try it for yourself. I delayed because I knew it would be heavier based on the comments I read. I think those who down-rated it were hoping for more intimate skinship moments, but they're missing out on the larger message. Their loss. I hope they come back in a few years and rewatch with fresh eyes. It really is worth it.

Wow. This was ridiculously good. I'm someone that loves a good BL story, but this was more. I understand the BL genre is fiction and doesn't really depict real life authentically most of the time, even when it's labeled as "slice of life".

The ones that really, authentically hit you and make you think are those that are more realistic. Like this one. These take you outside you "guys being romantic, falling in love, and kissing and stuff" to real life issues that literally everyone is subjected to, regardless of all the labels. This was that for me. There was another one like that - Love in the Big City (KBL). I think The Eighth Sense (KBL). perhaps Moonlight Chicken (Thai BL), and The Egoist (JBL but less romance more "after") fall into that category for more queer life depictions than the fluffy BL written mostly by women. No shade because I enjoy the hell outta those too, just like the other romance dramas that take me out of real life. Because I'm watching dramas mostly to escape the reality of life for a while, like many people.

That being said, I think my favorite person in this is Itsuki. He really sealed it for me in his final interview that we only get to see at the very end. His personality is most like mine, so I think I'd get along with a character like that. He's carefree but he also has his own ideals and lines he's unwilling to cross when pushed too hard.

Dear Japan, please keep on making dramas like this. I promise to watch.

Absolutely they can. Once you look past the NC scenes (which is what most focus on) in My Stubborn, you see the emotions in it. I know Boat and Oat can deliver. They just haven't really been allowed to in this, it seems. At least, for now. Maybe it will improve? Seems like the director and scriptwriter are only focused on the omegaverse animalistic side- kinda feels like they're making a parody of it in a subtle way with how it's so unserious when it needs to be more serious, and how those scenes which should have more depth of emotion feel so shallow and flat somehow. I guess that's my takeaway from Episode 3. Maybe it's a one-off...

To each their own. Since I read the novel, my expectations are a little different, I guess. I also have a thing about pacing- both in how conversation flows and story/character growth. If you read the novel, you'd understand my frustration with the pacing.

It’s the pacing that’s fast. They’re speeding through important scenes and spending too much time on non-important ones.

I also agree that they are talking too slow for the speed normal people talk at. Too many pauses, for sure. Like, who talks like this in conversations?

I agree. The story lacks the emotions and the dynamics in these relationships. It feels rushed. The scenes are going through too quickly to allow the characters time to feel. I don’t feel like any of the actors are conveying much emotion. If they are, u can’t sense it.

Like, the scene with the dad coming home should have been longer with more time for them to act the feeling of that scene. There was A LOT conveyed, which helps build this image of Phatsa. And the scene where he refuses to eat should have been in the bedroom like in the novel, with a bit more separation between him refusing and Nakhun finding out (out of the hearing of Phatsa). It was awkward.

Also, him wandering around and messing with the staff and playing on the stairs goes against the true discomfort he feels in that house where it’s too big and he feels like an uninvited guest. He’s supposed to feel supremely uncomfortable and out of place there, and at the same time, unwilling to bother the staff over simple things like food and going out because he’s used to doing these things for himself. These scenes don’t show that at all.

Are they trying to lighten the severe impact of class separation between them and the struggles he has in the face of this complete and abrupt change to his life? If so, what? That’s a huge part of the story.

Also, the gun range scene helps build this idea of what a unique person he is as a True Omega. His interaction with Amintra should have had more of an edge to it, but it felt like they could have just left this whole thing out with how underwhelming it was. Just to point out that he has more instinctual and innate survival skills? I felt the way it was portrayed in the novel with the confrontation and his responses were better in showing this. Also, Amintra’s aide or whomever she is was shorter and more timid (way more) in the novel. She was an outwardly anxious person Phatsa was kind of concerned about in the novel. This one was composed and kind of pointless. Are they trying to insert a GL cp like they like to do when rhere isn’t one in the original storyline? Annoying.

Then there’s the sports car gift scene. It was definitely lackluster and missed the mark on Nakhun’s feelings and Phatsa’s initial feelings of refusal versus his acceptance.

Everything feels too watered down. Although the animalistic nc scene felt uncomfortable and cringy, and the ridiculous idea that Phatsa could grow up in an ABO world and somehow know NOTHING about it (yet that young girl in the cafe knew and worried about it? What?!), I actually preferred the first two episodes. There, I felt the helplessness and frustration Phatsa was feeling, along with the dynamics in Nakhun’s family.

It’s the script, the directing, the acting, and timing. I wonder if I’ll end up dropping this within the next episode or two... Everything feels rushed and like it’s missing necessary depth.

I was a bit disappointed in this episode. It felt like they were rushing some important scenes. Like, all of them. And they changed some scenes, which lessened the impact. The novel puts greater weight on some scenes for a reason, I think. It just missed for me.
