I’ve actually been really proud of myself- I paused this after episode 5 because I really felt like this is a drama I need to binge. I’ve yet to cave despite all the crazy edits on IG. It’s supposed to be done next week, so I can finally start watching next Friday. Y’all are killing me with the edits though- those of you posting 😭😭😭

I’m on episode 10 and I have to say that Jiang Xu’s personal attendant is suspicious to me. Like he’s personally driving a wedge between them. It’s his facial expressions and they way he helped Xu remove his belt… maybe my bl-watching brain is reading too much into it, but I go “hmmmm” every time he’s with Xu.

I really, really, really dislike Ming Chu. I wanted her husband to slap the shit out of her. She’s a walking narcissistic disaster. What a truly despicable character (the actress did really well). 5 more episodes to go and I need her gone.

Thank you for posting this. I wish people did a little more independent research to know the facts for themselves without falling for rage-bating tactics to stir public unrest for the sake of it. Like they did with AiMi in Key to the Phoenix Heart (some even going so far as to criticize and condemn HMH). Then the show comes out and romance is pretty clean with zero kissing scenes and one scene where he’s hugging her shirtless. (it took forever to clear censorship- likely because she’s a minor cast playing a main lead role in this drama) Like men being shirtless isn’t considered normal in most societies… 🙄 I’m positive this drama will also be clean. China’s censorship does NOT play. This drama finished filming in February and has yet to have a release date while it meanders through post-production and Censorship.

There are some who will likely become anti-watchers because of AiMi’s age at filming… just like with Key to the Phoenix Heart, unfortunately.

AiMi is a really good actress. Most of these headliner dramas require adult roles. She, and her parents, signed a contract that didn’t exclude these roles. That was a choice they made for her career or whatever. It’s not my business. Everyone went crazy over Key to the Phoenix Heart, but they kept the “romance” pretty clean, with zero kissing scenes despite the “but she’s a minor” posts going viral everywhere” even before the drama aired (not people swallowing their tongues in the end). I’m sure they’ll do the same for this one. Condemning this before it even airs is like putting the cart before the horse. Now, if she’s sucking face and being all passionate with the male lead, THEN I may feel differently about the director casting her for this role, her agency for allowing it, and her parents for signing the contract with agency without stipulations to prevent such things.

And to read in the comments by those who’ve read the novel, there is very little romance to be found in this story, anyway. So there’s that.

Additionally, China’s National Radio and Television Guidelines have a restriction on mature content for minors: Programs targeting or featuring minors must avoid heavy themes involving wealth-flaunting, fame obsession, and romantic relationships. Also: Producers must obtain formal written consent from parents or legal guardians before a child is allowed on set (all this took a few minutes search on the internet, by the way).

Um…Ai Mi is 18. What minor? there is a 10 year real life age gap, but she’s 18.

After Episode 1:
Weak Hero Class- Teacher Edition. WTF is this GEM?! I’ve seen reels with clips of this, but I have been hesitating to watch for no good reason. This is my kind of Kdrama- Karma.
This is what I’ll be doing for the next 9 hours. Sleep? Optional.

Finally finished the Manhwa. Man. The last two episodes are gonna be crazy. I’m looking forward to it. 💙

A few minutes in and I really thought “have you seen an earring” was just a pick up line, because how tf would you see something THAT small at a beach?! But then the audacity to write a script where they actually search for it…and FIND IT? So close to the water, too? …yeah…

I blinked and it was over…

I may need to pause this until it’s done airing because it’s probably a more satisfying watch if I can see everything at once like a movie. It’s like a manga episode release a week sort of quickness.

8.0 is pretty good for MDL though…

I think it’s a movie to both love and hate. Their journey is complex. It’s not a fluffy watch, to be sure. It’s more darkness than light. It pulls me in, though, so I watch it at least once a year I guess. You’d have to make up your own mind about it. There is infidelity. That’s a trigger for some.

Sweetness overload 2.0 with the Netflix version. More intimate moments between the two- not just more nc (which are good), but overall moments where they’re just being a cute, sweet couple. 🥰

I’ve actually stopped at episode 9- I think I was just like- if I’m gonna watch something, let it something that truly captures my attention instead of forcing myself to continue.
