Oh Man! Ep 18- they ATE! 19 will be sad af but 20 is coming…a whole damn week of waiting though… I knew today would be the breakup. I did like how they played out the scene for Chi Cheng and Wang Shuo. And the fight scene- I wanna see the BTS. Bet they all had themselves a good time while filming it.
But the top tier was the breakup scene and Chi Cheng afterwards. Like they killed it and I’m here for it. Like, I FELT the heartbreak through the screen from both of them. I’m glad the breakup era won’t be long. But poor SuoWei has some serious sorrow headed his way and I know that that’s gonna bring the tears for me. What I am looking forward to are the sweet moments between ChengYu and Shuai.
Is it just me or did Wang Zhen look a little extra handsome in the scene when he was ignoring his brother at the house before he spazzed out?
Ok. I’m off to rewatch this episode and the series again…and again…and again. *sigh*
There are also quite a bit of flashbacks. And the taller guy whose name I’ve forgotten is kind of annoying in a not-so-endearing way. He comes across as a stalker with some screws loose. Like he’s on something illegal. I don’t know. But I like Hiro. Those big eyes along with that introverted personality have me with 2 thumbs up. For him. And of course Dai being in this is icing on the cake. But the “bully” needs to calm down a lot. I should read the manga…
Yes. Netflix confirms it’s a love story between two men. How explicit it’ll be remains to be seen. I hope…
It was supposed to be a BL with Heesu and Seungwon as the main (and only) couple. That is not what it ended up being. So it was very disappointing for a lot of BL fans who had read the series and many who hadn’t because of how it was labeled verses what we got. The series’ comment section here is full of comments in more detail about it.
I’m hoping Soul Mate is not like Heesu- labeled as a BL but not really being one.

I didn’t mention kissing making a love story authentic or not. You obviously didn’t really read my comment and came to troll. If you had watched Heesu as a BL fan, you should know what my comment meant. But while we are on the topic you started: What authentic love story doesn’t have kissing?
Don’t judge me. You don’t know me. Or do. I don’t really care past this reply comment to you because I don’t know you.
Yeah, they’re definitely gonna give us the breakup tomorrow and then make us wait until Monday for any new developments. Makes sense. The ending scene was bittersweet. The stills they posted have a scene with Chi Cheng and Wang Shuo- I am actually looking forward to it because of its healing power in one sense for Chi Cheng. He finally gets what he needs from this crazy guy. Those who read the novel know what I’m alluding to. I wonder if we get it tomorrow or next week?
This show has my full attention. Like, it has my attention in a chokehold ong. I can’t even. It’s about to blow up tomorrow. 23 more hours to go.
Edit: Just watched the preview. Definitely looks like breakup tomorrow, as expected.
It's a Chinese BL so yeah, pretty tame. The novel is SIGNIFICANTLY more explicit. The spice mostly happens in…
"(I'm obviously not counting WWI, that was very uncool.)" 😂 I'm not quite that old, either, but I have seen a few *ahem* decades *cough cough*
Good points made about the era. I can appreciate even hetero men caring for themselves and their appearance. It seems to have significantly fallen off with today's men in many cultures, especially Western ones.
Your comment made me think of when Shuai points it out and SuoWei realizes he cares more about his appearance after he starts falling for Chi Cheng. He didn't care when he was "straight", but now that he's "bending" for Chi Cheng, he's more conscientious of his appearance when getting ready for the day.
So...this is the less of "evils". In the novel, Chi Cheng goes after his more delicate "orbs"…
The one I read is also gone. They keep being deleted. You have to read one quickly whenever you find it. I just kept searching up the name until I found a new one.

The 1-10 NC scene was like, okay... People were so sprung it. Yeah, it was well acted, especially for Thomas, but it was a no for me. Too "gay" Thai Brady Bunch for me.
Now Chi Cheng? Bro was horny af for SuoWei from D1 and not ashamed, like you said. The build up kept going until the explosion.
Be it 1969 or 1970, to me there is little difference. It's the "hippie" vibe of the era I find ick. I will likely wait several episodes before I watch, if I don't end up waiting for it to be done. I will need to be able to freely fast forward when I need to. I do know that BOC produces pretty good dramas, so it'll probably have more of a Not Me vibe. I have to get over my issues with the hippie /late 60s-70s vibe to watch it.
Guys is Dai famous or something? The comments seem really excited for him. Can anyone enlighten me on this?
As escobs said, The Boyfriend is where we all know him from. If you watch it, you will fall in love with him, too. I strongly suggest watching it. SO GOOD! And since it's concluded, you don't have to wait every week in angst as we did for each episode. 😊
It was not set for a time on Netflix. Just marked as “Coming Soon”. It’s Netflix though so they could drop…
Sometimes MDL does that, but Netflix Japan has never had an actual date, I don't believe. Netflix Japan only listed it as part of their 2025 lineup. I think people were just speculating up to this point. And it still may be released this month. It is entirely plausible for Netflix to drop the trailer next week and follow up with a release date the week after. Though with a well-known figure like Taecyeon, they may give us a little more notice than that. Who knows, really. We do know it is "Coming Soon" though, so likely we won't have to wait too long. It is more likely that it will still air this month.
