On Leyan, the reason CG makes it out of Chang’an, is because of lifelong training. Leyan received traditional schooling and in her infinite initial childlike state, would have been killed during shock, in her mother’s bedroom.
Chang Ge’s mother never restrained her, I believe she allowed her to be raised as a Prince, so CG could always stand the best chance in life. She knew she’d get back at her rapist some day, she wanted her daughter capable and Shimin close to her to starve off the storm that would one day come.
