I believe, through growing up as he did, surrounded by toxic people and influence, he can now discern friendship, from foes, and he will have his priorities straight. He learns through loss, about love -mimi-, about brotherhood -loss of A'sun- and how to be a great Khan, by choosing to give up his mother. He will be able to identify and overcome toxic influence and become that great Khan from history.
I really need A'sun to visit him, before Khan dies. Might be controversial, but I have a need to see this, as I was a daughter who once visited her estranged, dying father.

IDK what the ending scene will be, but it won't be as silly as a forehead kiss in a tree. I think the fire will be used to 'disappear' A'sun and Chang Ge, with General Li Jing's help. They will be widely known as 2 Martyrs who died 'for the people', for peace.
They will be busy making a 'quidditch team' of their own, in a place much like what Chang Ge described to A'sun, when she thought she'd lost him, and he was unconscious.
