Film has been paired with so many leading ladies but the chemistry never comes close to that with Bifern. They're just a match made in heaven. I want them to continue collaborating (with breaks of course) even when they're old and grey.
I'm so glad this is the first thing I ever watched from the Philippines! Would not have it any other way. It was just the sweetest, most heart-warming film with a great ending that's all about individual growth. To top it all off, the music was the cherry on this colorful cake. Adore the pairing of Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan.

It's like the writers didn't know what to do and were thinking as they were writing and trying to gauge which would have the most shock value but it ended up being a complete mess with zero impact and repercussions.
I may not be Spanish, but I've consumed enough media from everywhere around the world to be desensitized to any kind of sexual content. My gripes with the original are solely on the fact that a team that spent 5 months undergoing rigorous training was so easily distracted and fazed at the slightest moment of trouble. Childish jealousy from one member while another member is literally trying to do their job like they're not a hardened criminal and one of the hostage school children instead. It's not about the sex, the violence, the cast, or the language. It is simply about bad writing and unlikeable characters.
This is not to say that the writing in the remake is flawless. Far from it. Just that the team here feels more like a group of professionals who are focused on their task despite the misplaced humor and often cringy dialogue exchanges.
