Oh, I can tell you that some of us do defend the FLs. I remember when Fireworks of my heart was airing. The FL…
they have their pitchforks out at the slightest provocation it's insane. worst part is, most of these commenters are coming from a place of internalised misogyny and it's appalling to see them do mental gymnastics to defend the male characters but the women get no such grace
TW!! what's crazy to me is that the 2nd sister was preparing all night to literally be raped, like that is such…
ohhh, maybe try looking for a translated copy in your native language if it's available? and I completely understand, I struggled with reading shakespeare for the longest time too.
My biggest grievance here for me is that he is a Smart ML. How can he be that clueless here ? Like "gifts" were…
lazy writing is exactly what it is. it would be interesting to see them married this early and then trying to make their marriage work with his meddling mother and each of their own strong personalities and how not everything is all sunshine and rainbows after a whirlwind romance and marriage. would make for a more thoughtful and mature drama but I guess that's too much to ask for

I'm also a non-native English speaker. I'd recommend that if you are more of a movie watcher, then watch the Keira Knightley version first, and then read the novel maybe. it will be easier to get through the English when you're aware of the plot in my humble opinion

he looked down upon them for being from a lower financial background and thus not following proper etiquette customary of the society they were trying to get married into. this was coming from his own insecurities as well because despite their financial situation the Bennets were overall much healthier as a family than Darcy so yeah, a mixture of misunderstandings, Darcy's prejudice towards the Bennets and Elizabeth's pride in standing her ground and showing the rich guy who's boss makes up for a timeless tale that was told so well. ALSO, all of the husbands doted on their wives! even shady wickham
Hmmm. So the male lead characters of this drama here played tricks to scare the ladies and saved them all together.…
I'm replying here as someone who tries to avoid the type of dramas you've described above, but I think the reason people are okay with those fantasy demon MLs etc is because what more can one expect from them when going into those dramas? you watch them with the knowledge that they're horrible and have tortured pasts and suffered crazy ordeals and become horrible people so the entire drama will take you on the journey to redeem them, make them avenge whatever issues and settle down etc.
the issue with having such toxic characterization in a slice of life drama like this is that none of the male leads (at least up to 6 episodes) are coming with that sort of baggage that would make the audience justify their actions (which is still wrong). to make things worse, their actions are rather normalized here, and quickly dismissed as non issues. sure, the cheating husband will give up his cheating at the end, the weird pervy official will get his butt whooped and learn to respect women and the male lead's actions have all been justified as good so nothing will happen here but seriously, doesn't that sound pathetic? why are these amazing women being made to settle with men like this just so that the romance quota can be filled? like the sisters say on episode 6, it's not hard to find kind, respectful men and they should look towards that. if the drama in 2025 is going out of its way to go against the historical norm and show women being empowered, why is it that the men are still stuck in that era? no one is coming here to watch a documentary of men's behavior in the song dynasty

Mr Darcy was nothing like this! He was an awkward, misunderstood, reclusive type who not once looked down upon any of the Bennet sisters for being women!
