Apart from the main leads and the kid, almost all the remaining characters are just awful. And every interaction betwen them leads to them becoming worse and worse :)
There are clever ambiguous endings and cop-out ambiguous endings . This is definitely the latter - it could have been better if the creative team had had more courage.
I still gave it a 10 though because despite its flaws, it was excellent.
The second male lead is a walking green flag. Usually arrogant, red-flag male leads are my catnip but I do think the FL would be better off with Mr Xie.
Is there anything-fucking-worse than ‘we might be siblings’ trope. Ugh.
Thank you for answering! I completely understand the narrative conceit behind this but more creative, less hackneyed, situations would have created a similar division rather than the fake sibling trope.
Loved this! Inhaled it in one sitting. The only reason I didn’t rate it a 10 was because it featured the ‘worst trope ever TM’ and made me skip some scenes.
Really enjoyed the main couple but my affection for the series was tempered by the ‘NoT LiKE othEr GirLs’ stuff. You don’t have to look hard to realise this doesn’t actually do woman any kind of service.
No mystery, it’s Money. His popularity in the musical world and his social media following can be leveraged to gain a larger following for the drama. This is not to say that he doesn’t have talent but it probably wasn’t crucial to the casting.

Looking at you in particular, borderline abusive male lead…
