You do realise that clichés have an important role in storytelling? Good storytellers know how to utilise them. If I had time I'd do an indepth analysis of this drama and the way clichés have been used that you most likely missed but I'm not that committed to whatever this is. We don't even know yet if Net's character is going to be pivotal to the resolution so the criticism is premature. And even if he is, I trust the writers not to make it sloppy. They've earned my trust.

Haven't seen the episode but animals that are accustomed to bondage will stay so long as there is a rope in place. Doesn't matter what it's tied to. Trained horses won't run off unless they're badly startled.
