i read the manga (well just a couple of chapters) and the adaptation is surprisingly super faithful!
sadly it is only translated on sites up to Vol. 5 (chap 26.5) but there are 8 volumes total written to date but rest not translated yet. This ends with no conclusion for the manga to date when reading what is uploaded but there is 8 volumes to date for this.....so the ending of the story will be summarized between the script writers n author I assume to conclude the live action (and based on the rest of the volumes we readers who are waiting for translation haven't read yet) (AND Wink, Wink...you wanna read about all the bunny rabbit moments to come LOL, the smut is decent in this manga tho too, they get along real real well lol)

yea I read it also and it tracks well but there are some changes in it that don't set the time line correctly. Like he only leaves for 6 mos. after transferring the house to his brother and he is already back when Azuma's friend dies....so the live action makes it seem like he is gone so long, 2 yrs was mentioned and he comes back early for Azuma but that never happens, plus they are way way way more intimate and have sexy times all the time.....the live action isn't really showing the depth of their actual relationship at all. They are solidly connected but the way it is written it makes Kuiji seem truly distant when he really is not so for me the live action has actually kinda changed their personality from the manga. Kuji seems broken and distant and he really isn't and he is all in love with Azuma and while Azuma is clingy and insecure, he knows he also has a place directly by Kuji's side so?? It feels like the live action is focusing on their life issues more to make it seem they are not solidly bonded and fighting thru to have this relationship to relate/connet and confess---while in the manga, their relationship is actually cemented in place....thry confessed, are by each other's side and are monogamous so---they just aren't sure how to move forward with each other and what suits each best. Do you kinda agree with that? Get that feeling of how off the feel of the written manga isn't showing the depth of these 2 characters? just wondering

Title The Gaze
Ep 9 was good, I almost shed a tear right along with him thru that apology scene. Acting was very emotional, felt sincere, liked it. But like some others said, they are making the younger bro take too much spotlight over their situationship, wish the script wasn't a heavy influence from him. Love second couple, they are funny now :) So lovey-dovey!

Binged eps 1-5 and caught up. I like the actors. Backstory is filling in ok to let us know what the characters have faced so I feel more connected to all now. OK..hmm.....that dental finger file, omg and ice a wound with cubes, no ice pack? lol...whew, our Dr/Dentist was getting all hot and bothered! 12 eps total so we have a good way to go to see how this develops. Almost shed a few times too. Enjoying it so far.

Ep 11 and my mouth is hanging open on that ending......I saw that net and immediately thought oh hell no! WOW with one ep left how is this gonna play out? (I seriously have second couple syndrome in this one, not usual for me but their dynamics and storyline content is great!)

@etoks21 I actually agree with a lot of what you said, but these characters were obviously written to be broken…

Absolutely agree. The original author made this story with glaring flaws in the characters and they adapted those flaws straight into this series, Kuji gives me that, if my Daddy didn't show love to me then how can I love and connect to Azuma? Dude, get over it, you old now!! And I saw with Azuma, him begging for any tiny bit of emotion to connect and him being jealous of the editor and the other points you mentioned he slowly has been asking of Kuji. What kills me most is Kuji in the first few eps. is like, omg I could really like him, I want him around etc. and then he backtracks to total silence and he even goes overseas for like 2 years? WTH was that? but comes back a few weeks early cause Azuma's friend passes and NOW he supports him? Kuji sucks lol This is a rip your hair out while watching cause wanna just slap someone all the time :)

I get the feeling these 2 characters should be burning down the bed HA they're not :( More sullen theme based then a feel of a mature adult relationship starting, which should hold fire, someone thru a pail of water on them lol As actors tho I still got that draw to watch them and see how this goes down

yea the growth of the characters isn't advancing for me at all mostly, abet they have made a tiny bit of growth towards each other but also in this series, actually a lot of time has passed since they reunited, and being mature adults ya think they could have a real convo?? Nope, as per a manga, it drags out the miscomm and hidden non-expressed feelings forever sometimes and it seems the script writers put it in this story also lol The maturity level and growth progression of them together should be more advanced by now I thought too, especially with only 2 eps left. We gonna have a AH HA moment and they connect instantly I guess and we all smile a happy ending as they lock in their future together? :) yea!!

@etoks21 I actually agree with a lot of what you said, but these characters were obviously written to be broken and flawed and have clueless awareness of their connection, that's how much manga storylines flow in that direction and drive that plot hooking the reader to ohh and ahh and relate and say you dumb f to the weak character and cuss the more evil characters while reading HAHA I do, I insult my mains all the time in my manga/manhwa stories lol.....and if this wasn't an adaption from an original work, I can clearly see these characters written a bit different. But I am enjoying the calm/slow of the story. Why, not sure, I think I am liking the actors in their parts, wanna see more.

I've only watched the anime adaptation so only comparing it to that, it's so close to it without being as graphic.…
I read the original manga a few times already and yea, they are doing a great job on the adaption. One of the first catches is visual, so casting these actors for Fukami and Kaji was spot on, Fukami really resembles the character art! (I missed the anime, looking it up now!)

I’m starting to appreciate the 13minute format more because nothing feels wasted they go straight into the dialogue.…
yea, crap parents right? That scene was very short really and it conveyed so much about him not feeling love from his parents and then him being envious of Fukami's good family bond. It packed a ton of emotional baggage for him in just a few sentences. Then those few sentences triggered Fukami feeling he only hurts his partner and now he feels he hurt him also....yikes. Writers are good here, they made these short length episodes always have meaningful dialogue, not much air time wasted on unnecessary filler crap I think.

Ep 8 still in love with this adaption for this series. I felt so so sorry for Fukami who is in so deep for Kaji now....and those idiot words I never love to hear from a main, "let's end this now', crying, boo hoo. Ep 9 can't come fast enough!!! Just their moans and Ah, Ahs and heavy breathing is making the NC scenes great for me lol damn!

so agree. Any slower story has to have superb acting also for me to hold interest, and these 2 actors are keeping my eyes on the screen. The maturity level also sets the tone for a chill vibe, not rushed, just good solid performances and based in real/relatable content like you mentioned. We got this show figured out lol
