Could have been a nice rom com

It started well, all elements for a nice rom com were there, humour, background story with a bit of suspens, characters designed as nice and villain and the plot was original and tackle a subject that isn’t spoken easily of on Korean tv…. Yet this drama lacks so much more they try to make it complicated more it became a mess. Characters reactions and emotions are all over the place and just don’t make sense. There is no love nor brother love nor family love starting from episode 9 only a bigger mess unfolding in the 4 last episodes.
Unfortunately it was a disappointment

poor story & dialogues

what to say …. this movie was such a disappointment! I wanted to live this movie as knights of the zodiac was a big part of my childhood. Mark Dacascos & Mackenyu were well casted but can’t say the same for the rest of the cast. Costumes don’t make justice to the anime at all and the special effects are low quality and we don’t realize the power nor the increase of power of Pegasus.

Now, the plot … they massacred the story. It doesnt make sense, they tried to summarize so many things and missed the whole point of the knights of the zodiac purpose. I don’t know if they tried to copy marvel sense of humour, but this whole “I’m a goddess” jokes weren’t funny and rather made the character of Athena look like a pretentious little girl.

This was a miss. I hope that if they continue the serie, the director & script writer will change. Otherwise, it will be a waste of time & money and will also stain actors credibility.

Long awaited drama ended up being a disappointment

I had high expectations for this drama unfortunately it didn’t match my hopes. This review contains spoilers.
At first, I was very excited by the 1st episode, then I thought it was a slow burn story and quickly I got bored with the dragged story. It took 20 episodes so half of the drama to tell the story of the princess being a student and that happened in the past of the current events. Then, suddenly the plot with the ice clan is debunked in 2min out of nowhere and we don’t even understand why & how this very short scene & absurd explanation could end an entire plot. Very disappointing.
The second plot with the supreme majesty is all over the place, doesn’t make sense. The 1st intrigue that started the whole drama is still not triggered after 30 episodes so I can expect that this would happen in the end only.

Long story short, the story isn’t very well written and goes in all directions without credible root! Xiao Zhan does a good job but the FL voice & character acting like a child is pretty annoying and its hard to over look as the drama plot isn’t solid enough!

Could have been good

I don’t know what to think about this drama. It started boring, then became interesting, then very boring again. A story that could have been very interesting but the change of personality of the characters in middle of the drama, the loopholes in the story, the “we know immediately who is the culprit” …. Made me give a 6/10 to this drama. And the ending … what to say about it. Suddenly, male & female leads act out of characters and the drama takes a comical turn. This drama is lacking a lot in its story, which is sad cause it could have been an interested fantasy drama but I feel that it tried to tackle to many genres at once and lost its flow on the way.

Exciting show

I really live the concept to give another chance to these idols who didn’t have a chance to shine brighter than others. A lot are very talented and all had to go through a lot of hardships. This show actually tells you how much the idol system is difficult and demanding, yet how much these guys work hard to achieve their dream!
My heart aches for them while heating their stories and smile while watching their performance. Of course some characters are obnoxious, pretentious or play the victim card a bit too much while others can be too shy, too naive and cute for this cruel idol system! But all are there to make their dream come true and I can only be moved and inspired by that!
Furthermore, my biggest surprise was to see B.A.P Moon Jongup! Yes a B.A.P member in this show! B.A.P debuted at the same time than EXO and won best rookie award. Amazing talented group that was ruined by their company & the scandalous rumours from other companies, fans, etc. Moon Jongup was my bias in BAP & to see him trying since 2019 to maintain his dream alive after his group brings a lot of emotion! Really inspiring!

Best role of Yang Yang

I have a love/hate relationship with Yang Yang. He’s surely handsome but his acting is very stiff and repetitive. He is a good kisser though so with the right partner and script, it can make the drama spicer. That’s what happened with You’re my glory. The romance between the female and male leads is refreshing and mature. I really liked the story and the fact that the man questions himself in his 30s; should I live my dream or make more money? Should I be in a relationship or should I focus on my career? I think we all put our lives in questions the same way at some point, and it makes you reflect on your own life somewhat. i personally could relate so it made the storyline very plausible and solid for me. And on top of it the short 32 episodes made the drama easy to binge watch, which was a plus.

One of best melodramas

You are hooked In first episodes with the enigmatic storyline. You fell in love with Kim Moo Young but also feels wary towards him.
All the twists and mystery around the 2 main characters keep you in suspense. The passion and the complicated character of the male lead is the most interesting one. It feels real, well written and the scenarists actually did an amazing job to depict such complicated emotions.

Two things made me tick though! When Yoo Jin Gook stabbed Kim Moo Young. When you finally understand how they’re related and what Yoo Jin Gook did to his father, the way he treated him didn’t make sense, and to want to kill him was way out of the picture and didn’t fit the regrets and guilt that he felt.
And then it is how Yoo Jink Kang reacted to that vs how she felt completely desperate when she learned her brother killed Kim Moo Young’s father. It felt strange and also out of place.

We will learn only in the last episode who she really is and how the 2 main characters are intertwined.
Regardless, these flaws, the drama worked for me as the psychology of the characters is really well written and makes you question how you would react in these scenarios. Human beings are indeed complicated animals.

It’s a HIT!

It has been a long time that we didn’t have an excellent xianxia. And Love between fairy and devil delivers; scenario, characters, casting, dialogue, ost, CGI, everything is there to make you want more and more. I am definitely hoping for a second season with maybe a Dongfang with the blazed fire, the new god of war Danyin, adventures of Chengheng roaming the earth?
It is a must watch of 2022, and it enters the list of best xianxia a ever made! Dylan Wang’s acting was so good, I’ve cried and laugh with his character.
Congratulations to all the cast and crew! Wishing to all the huge success that this drama deserves!

Got tired of it. A part 1 would have been enough

I have a live/hate relationship with this drama. All the actors (except Leo Wu to me) acted really well and I cried and laughed mostly with Shaoshang’s adventures and along her roller coaster’s emotions.
Now …. This drama is really well rated, but I’ll go against the trend. I appreciated the Part 1, with the same screenwriter than Rose of Phoenixes, it made a lot of promises and you can enjoy the complex plot, the stories within the story, and the dialogues.
The Part 2 is unnecessary long. 29 episodes, when the first 21 episodes are just a repetition of the same feelings already explained between the 2 main characters “I trusted you, but you don’t” and vice versa, the hatred in Ling Buyi’s heart and his revenge that fuels the main storyline is dragging (example with Shaoshang’s father missing and accused of stealing copper, it took 2 episodes that were completely unnecessary to the whole story). Furthermore, i started to grow tired of Leo Wu’s acting that was lacking to me; he only shows 2 & half emotion the whole 56 episodes; anger / sadness that looks like anger and cute love.
Finally, I’m not happy with how the culprit of the Gu city plot was revealed. Ling Buyi actually knew all along that it was his uncle (as when he was a child he witnessed him killing his father, Li and even hanged his own son on the city wall). We thought that all these episodes, he was looking for clues, etc, when he just went to kill him and could have talked to his majesty who always defend his father, general Huo.
That fast forwarded moments of each secondary characters in episode 52, the whole episode 53 with Luo being a sudden enemy. Then, episode 54 it’s Lou Li but it’s wang yanji (wife of Lou Ben) is “resurrected”…. to get her revenge out of nowhere. All these stretched scenarios are built just for the 2 main characters to get close again …

Unpopular review

In first episodes, you’re hooked to the strong fl character who goes against principles & values of the time and fights to decide her own fate. The mysteries and many twists & turns makes the drama different and interesting … at first.
Yet, more the story unfolds, more you realize that the fl is just a fickle, childish, stubborn girl who doesn’t hesitate to throw her family under the bus based on her intuition rather than believing in any of them. She is lucky to have met Liang Yi who saved her from her infortunes so many times and Qin Xuan who loves her sincerely.
She actually ruined & hurt so many people simply because she prefers to trust her intuition rather than trusting anyone and accepting how others could be different than her.
Her lack of values made me hate step by step the fl. Now at episode 22, I am fast forwarding episodes to finish it quickly.
I’m also not convinced by the actors play in this drama, I didn’t find this chemistry btw the leads that so many talked about. And because the script writer wanted to focus on the twists, many opportunities to make the fl & ml shine we’re missed.
And once you’ve seen them all, you can’t watch this drama again, as you know it all.

Your cute typical drama

My review will be brief! This story is cute, well written, dialogues are fluid, there is a good cast, the actors play well, there is good chemistry between main & second lead couples! All the ingredients of your typical kdrama are reunited in this scenario! There aren’t twists and the plot isn’t complicated! And it works! It’s a hit in South Korea. It was released on Netflix at the same time than other kdramas that might be better! This a drama to watch and enjoy, but nothing new to expect!

Amazing acting, but not so great story

This drama exceeds my expectations in terms of acting and imagery. Other than that, I kept rolling my eyes because of the twisted story & feelings. I kept telling myself something was off all along the 12 episodes, from how they met, lived together, started dating, etc... I am perplexed about FL feelings who kept butting in his life, stole the device from his apartment, kept coming in his house when he’s not there, etc.... I don’t like how the writer tried to make it look like ok because she is naively kind. And then the death of Ha Wons mother kept annoying me. The niece who took side to the guy who was involved in her death, the FL who hid it from Ha Won but once they kissed, she sided with him .... the fact they made it look like it’s common that people die when it snows in Norway is so exaggerated.
A lot just didn’t feel right about these characters and because of that this drama is a miss for me. I sont like when stories don’t make sense in dramas that are supposed to be realistic. I def preferred Something in the rain or one spring night!

Highlights SK society issues with a great cast!

The School series (especially 2013 & 2015) revolve around school violence, grade, suicide & so many other issues that young Koreans face everyday especially in high school. I like these series that try to tackle real society issues that still are a big flaw in modern SK society with one of highest suicide rate in the world amongst the young.
Kim So Hyun did an amazing job playing the 2 main characters! It is my favorite School sequel. If you prefer ont hat is more lighthearted, I’d suggest you to watch School 2017.

Started well and then completely fell out

I’ll be brief. This is a cute and original story. The FL is really cute, ML acts well and all other characters are all doing an amazing job.
Problem is that in the middle of the drama, the characters start not to make sense at all. Ms Ahn is the worst. She doesn’t accept her son, claims she does this for her step son, refused to help her son when the only person who loved him died ... but then intervened and literally forced Seulbi to leave her son pretending that it’s better for him to be all alone!
Then, the step son ..... how immature can you be? It hurts. I can get it, but to be violent with your step mom, to hurt the only persons who were there for you to feel better .... and the father who is a cop, doesn’t do a thing when he realizes the situation. This kid needed a good slap to get some sense out of him. And so the mom/step mom!
Now the FL..... her cuteness and kindness becomes annoying cause she is so naive that she keeps being wronged without fighting back or at least avoiding to be involved in more problems.
The bullies ..... no comment. Characters are as frustrating as above. And same goes for Angel sunbae!

Overall this could have been an amazing drama, unfortunately it felt short. Just be warned that this drama might disappoint you after the 1st 10 episodes !

Masterpiece

I’ve watched Legend of Fuyao for the second time after 3 years and loved it as much as the 1st time. You can expect amazing scenery, script, acting and OST. The perfect mix for one of best Chinese production. It’s not for nothing that this drama became a classic. I removed one point for the last 10 episodes though, where the ice became slower and the side stories drag a bit the main plot. But... but it does more envergure to secondary characters. If you haven’t watched it yet ... don’t miss out on this masterpiece!
