Question: Just started season 2 and I spoiled myself Boston's scenes ššš
I think he's been punished long enough. Does anybody know if they're planning on doing an additional season and if yes, have they talked about FINALLY giving Boston a happy ending?
Agree with you but I think it's more the fact that the Grandpa knows he won't be here forever. Se Gye grew up…
Well there's time constraints... OR it also could be one of these incomplete scenes they show and then next episode they're gonna show some part of the discussion we didn't see who knows? Maybe it's me who is extrapolating, but when I heard of his worry about history repeating itself ( Mundo has mentioned that Se gye's mother left his father alone and that it traumatized grandpapa) and he wanted Se Gye with a big family, I immediately thought these were the reasons though I understand, the drama has not made his concerns this explicit so far.
This being said, coming back to your answer, you said:
"Yes, their social and financial standings are quite different, but with her career gradually advancing, the gap is slowly closing."
I'm not really sure this argument stands though... I'm currently watching this old drama called " I have a Lover". In it, the ML is the son of a businessman and his mistress, a former Miss Korea. The father quit his ex-wife ( resulting in his daughter hating her younger brother) to hook up with a "non-educated pretty face". In the whole drama, he spends his time berating his wife about her lack of education, makes you wonder why he left his ex-wife but then again, not the first man to do that I guess. Whether with his wife or mistress, this man is a terrible person.
Anyway, we know Se Gye is not like that because he's the ML of course but we're back to the same issue of coming from different backgrounds. She's an actress who appart from her acting and modeling gigs , has only done odd jobs to survive. Whereas Se Gye is highly educated.
Once the "passion phase" is over, can these two really have enough points in common and subjects to discuss to really be together for life?
I've seen first hand with my own parents' marriage ( on a side note, I have two brothers. All of us are either in our 40s or getting there and none of us are married nor with children. The trauma is real) what having two people with nothing in common makes. It's awful. People always speak about gaslighting, husband hitting wives, cheating etc... as reasons to divorce...
But honestly even without that, life can be pretty terrible when two people are sitting at a table and have absolutely nothing to say to each other. My parents are from a generation that taught them that you have to endure and that as long as your husband doesn't hit you or cheat on you, you as a woman have nothing to complain about. Now people have Internet, you can relate with people outside of you family circle, know what to do when you want to leave... but before? Ha!
The funny thing though is that in my parents' case, my father is the one with the education, my mom didn't have the chance to even finish high school... BUT My mother has always been extremely curious. She spent all the freetime she had learning, reading and furthering her education at home... whereas my father is somebody who doesn't care about literally everything. Apart from watching the news, nothing interests him... But when you're a stay-at-home mom, well past a certain age, it becomes more complicated to divorce economically speaking especially if one of your child has issues, so you're stuck in your unhappy marriage and forget compassion from your own family...
I like him but sadly careerwise he is really struggling. He did need to part with BLs in order to really make his career soar but sadly none of the BLs he stared in got really popular outside of the usual Bl public. You need one that attracts people who usually don't watch BLs to really interest producers I guess, like what happened with Park Seo Ham and Semantic Error.
Than he got some support roles in dramas that again sadly... weren't really popular... He's been at it for 14 years now... It's truly saddening... Not losing hope though. I really like his face. He's kept his traditional asian features... no plastic surgery in sight.
Really rooting for him. Well some actors got a career boost in their late 30s, he hasn't given up yet... Who knows? Maybe one of these vertical dramas is gonna blow up and his career will getback on track.
I delayed and delayed watching this drama because I really wanted to have enough time to enjoy the whole thing due to the very "intense" shorts with Zhang Ling He...
But the drama turned out very different than what I expected. I went in for the romance but it's way WAY more political than I thought. Not bad, just not what I signed up for when I decided to watch it...
It's your usual political backstabbing with court ladies being just as nasty as some male characters...
It's just the FL's mother that I just can't stand for the life of me. I'm sure everything is gonna be forgotten because " she cares about her daughter and she just has this habit of saying the opposite of what she thinks" or something... You're the parent, behave like one.
Mr Queen wasn't a reincarnation though... In this drama they made it pretty clear that Seo Ri and Dan Shim are…
In Mr Queen, the Queen and the Cook are two different people... which is why the ending was so unsatisfying. Whereas here, if they end up staying in their own timeline, since ultimately they're the same person, it will be fine. For Seo Ri... I would expect she was in the past but unconscious due to whatever voodoo the shaman did ( dunno what name to give to whatever weird dance she did). She might have slept for sure, but since the present has been modified, the "she was sleeping" theory doesn't work in my opinion.
Was caught up with work today and couldn't catchup on the episode, but saw the preview of the next episode. I…
Mr Queen wasn't a reincarnation though... In this drama they made it pretty clear that Seo Ri and Dan Shim are the same "soul", same with Se Gye and the Grand Prince. No matter which timeline, they always fall for each other. They have 4 episodes to make us accept that each of them has to stick to their own timeline. It will be fine.
So tired of the "2 broken ppl should not be together" or "I want him/her to have a partner with lots…
Agree with you but I think it's more the fact that the Grandpa knows he won't be here forever. Se Gye grew up lonely, he doesn't get along with his aunts and cousin... So the grandpa wants him to have what he didn't have in his youth, two loving "substitute parents", a wife and children. Seo Ri on the other side is an orphan with a sick grandma. She can give him children of course, but the big rowdy family is a no".
Basically the grandpa is counting on his daughter in law's family to give Se Gye what he has failed to give him when he was a child.
If you look at it that way, you can understand from where he's coming from...
Also I don't think it's unreasonable for somebody from a wealthy background to ask for his daughter in law to come from the same background... On the long run, it makes life easier for both parties. IRL people tend to go out and marry with people from the same background. Of course this is a romance, and we're rooting for love to win, but reality is, even if they love each other, the constraints of coming from a wealthy background might wear the other party down and it's likely that any sane woman would end up fleeing in the other direction to avoid all the hassle and backstabbing that comes from marrying rich leaving Se Gye alone. We don't know why Se Gye's mother left... but ultimately this could be one of the reason.
It's not necessarily " I don't like this girl" but rather "on the long run, she's going to want to leave"... and what will happen? Most of the time, if the woman leaves, she takes the children with her, and Se Gye is going to end up alone and lonely again.
Look here, Seo Ri and him are not officially going out and yet the whole family is on their back. Now they're probably thinking Grandpa is not gonna support the marriage which would mean they would inherit... BUT if grandpa supports Se Gye in spite of him marrying a movie star and lets him inherit... what kind of hell are they gonna make his daughter in law go through?
These are very genuine concerns that the grandpa probably has... Concerns that only older people who have gone through a lot ( and have seen their fair shares of unhappy marriages) are thinking about.
The way I see it, it's not a matter of not liking Seo Ri at all.
THIS BEING SAID. He is going at it the wrong way. Forcing your grandson to marry a girl he clearly doesn't like, is not gonna work long term either no matter how much he's trying to convince himself he's doing the right thing.
Can you spoil the ending? I wanted to watch that drama but I saw LOTS of comments complaining about the ending…
Lol that's fine... Well that does suck pretty bad... One has to wonder why the forced separation at the last minute... Hmm. Well I think it's one of these endings that are easier to accept when you know what to expect beforehand. Thank you š
Can you spoil the ending? I wanted to watch that drama but I saw LOTS of comments complaining about the ending…
Lol Have you scrolled the comment section? I'm currently watching this show so no thank you, I don't want any spoiler for My Royal Nemesis. I was asking for spoilers for The Story of Park's Marriage Contract.
I like the cappuccino flavour. Started sharing them at work and now we are talking about kdramas every week š
That's nice... Quit my job a couple of years ago and working from home now so no possibility to talk K drama with anybody.... But my former colleagues were mostly males anyway. They were either in western TV series, Comics and video games... So no chance on that front...
I hope they don't pull a 'The story of Park's Marriage contract' with this oneimma need her to come back in the…
Can you spoil the ending? I wanted to watch that drama but I saw LOTS of comments complaining about the ending so I ended up putting my watching on hold indefinitly...
Btw, on a side note, I bought some Kopiko sweets a while ago. After seeing it in some many K dramas, I thought it was a Korean brand but apparently it's actually from Indonesia.
Well, I'm not really a sweet type of person. if it wasn't for K drama brainwashing, I'd never have bought those ( It's not sold everywhere in my country, you have to go to small shops specialized in Asian products).
I'm not sure there's any caffeine in those to by honest. It does taste like coffee but it doesn't wake sheep.
Same here! At some point we do need to get rid of the big villain. Better they do it in episodes 11 and 12 so…
Yeah EXCEPT! So far the preview has always followed the same pattern: Sweet beginning followed by a drama filled second half.
It's the first time since the beginning of the drama that the preview is full of angst from start to finish.
Of course, it doesn't mean next episode won't have any light hearted moments ( the writer has been great so far on that front) but we can expect way more drama thanlight-hearted moments especially since we're near the end and the biggest conflicts need to be resolved.
Especially execute the King and send Mundo to prison. Sorry for his son but his father is a fudging murderer.
My Brain š§ : ITS OKAY, PEAK-CONFLICT & IT WILL PASS (maybe in eps 11/12)š„¹š13/14 GET MARRIED, LOVEY…
Same here! At some point we do need to get rid of the big villain. Better they do it in episodes 11 and 12 so that we can spend more time with both couple reuniting with their "right person" in their own time in episode 13 and 14. There's nothing worse than resolving the biggest conflict at the very end and having close to no happy epilogue especially since whether in the past or the present, they're just so adorable together, we need to give "both" couples enough moments together.
I personally think there's no isekai lol. I feel like shin seori just gained her past memories and act as danshim(just…
It's definitely some Isekai due the presence of the comet. Once the comet has passed, every soul is back to its right place. The reason why Se gye has avoided being "isekaied" is because he's been taking meds for years imho.
Questions based on preview:- Grandpa dead or in a coma?- Real Seori back? Are they gonna try to do the thing where…
For me Mundo is going down next week both in the past AND in the present because there's just too much to cover even without him in the final week. From what was showed the Grand Prince wasn't executed but exiled. Probably in order to be executed but that doesn't mean that he truly was.
Fiction rule n°1: If you don't show the body, then you can't be 100% sure the character is dead.
SO. My take is, she's back to the past and now it's pay back time for the King and she changes the past with the Grand Prince.
In the present they get rid of Mundo. Also I think that Se Gye's actually took meds because like Seo Ri, his past soul occasionally popped up. So they're both back in their own time and they're Se Gye's is ultimately going to realize that Shin Seo Ri Modern version is none other than the same person... because they share the same soul or something...
Or so I hope.
That's the theory I have. If it's well executed it could work. We haven't seen a lot of Shin Seo Ri so we don't really know how different she is from her past self...
Wtf happened at the end? She went back to Josoen or what? No i don't want that
Well yeah sadly... So Seo Ri is probably back in her head... I think we're heading towards both souls being melded. I don't mind this development though. They're doing it now so there's 4 episodes to get used to the idea and see the transition.
Also it seems the Grand Prince wasn't killed in the past but rather exiled so it's possible she can reunite with him in the past... I don't know? I'm a bit confused...
BUT it's still WAY better to do it now than what they did with Mr Queen which was extremelly frustrating. Ultimately, whether a concubine or a famous actress, it's the same soul, i.e the same person.
For me It's just her being back to normal and maybe Shin Seo Ri's present soul blended with the one in her past and getting more spunk...
Ok no... I don't know. I don't know how I feel. I'm just gonna trust the writer šµāš«šµāš«šµāš«
