the only connection to s1 is that there are some returning players from s1, thats all. its not mentioned further in s2 and also isnt important to understand s2 better. in fact s1 and s2 even are slightly different. so proceed without worries.

i watched this around 2016 within two days and at that time i only have seen 2 dramas before. at the time i was a big fan of https://mydramalist.com/5184-cheongdamdong-alice which isnt received that well by many. i agree that seen with the eyes of the present for the first time its probably not that good anymore.

its hard to say whats special about it. one thing that clearly stands out is the OST though.

i really liked s1 but didnt enjoy s2 at all, for me they are disconnected. so i think you can watch s2 as a standalone

grandfather was immensely iconic

after the first half episode i already knew this would be interesting. i showed it to my parents, they usually dont like complicated subtitles but the drama is quite easy to understand even non-verbally. not sure if i would have watched it till the end on my own as i am notorious for dropping dramas mid season. but my mother pressured me to watch it together and i didnt regret it. definitely one of the strongest dramas of 2022 and its even free to watch.
