Can someone tell me what's the situation with the male lead and the woman he's seeing at the start (not our female lead)? I really can't watch any kind of cheating (emotional, physical) so I wanna know what that specific situation is and how he gets closer to the female lead...

She didn't even try to communicate with her partner and seemed to enjoy keeping him in the dark, not just with the laundry thing but the whole telling people stuff she couldn't tell her husband thing. It felt meanspirited to me, like she enjoyed the deception.
She assumed she knew everything about her husband and never gave him a chance to see her real self. It wasn't fair to him at all.
Do the right thing and divorce her u little $hit!! You already stole her thirties!! Let her have the family she always wanted with the adorable kid and the man who already loves her better than u ever did!!
Go to therapy, don't traumatise somebody else because of your mommy issues.
He's a grown man, ffs. He's still making it all about himself. He never cared for her truly, or he would never treat her like that. He's focusing on whether or not it was an affair and is avoiding the impact his disappearing act has had on her.

This has nothing to do with the show but I just wanted to say that I do this too and it really ruins a lot of great moments for me. I've never seen it articulated like this, and it did hit me hard. I'll remind myself of this quote when I need to. Thank you!
Taking company food off-site? Is she the final boss of capitalism? In 2026 it's hard to watch such characters. Note to the writers: just because she's a girlboss doesn't mean she can't have basic empathy!
This is a really great show. I like how Katsuo has fundamentally changed due to his cooking journey. Nothing like putting yourself in someone else's shoes. He does truly love Ayumi, but he doesn't really know her. He was doing what he thought was the best for her. Of course, he was super wrong and it affected Ayumi greatly, but there was never a deliberate decision to make her unhappy, which I think is important in the context of them getting back together.
As for her, she fell back into familiar patterns, and if it were up to me, I'd spend the next ten episodes focusing on her carving out her own life and her own identity. That's not going to happen, given that we're over halfway through the show, but it would've been the best path for her character.
Ultimately, I like them together 2.0 and I think they have a lot of potential. Let's hope we get a kiss!
