Ep 12 honestly feels like the writers suddenly remembered they only have one week left and started throwing every…
"Every happy moment feels weird because she's not really enjoying it. She's preserving it." This has nothing to do with the show but I just wanted to say that I do this too and it really ruins a lot of great moments for me. I've never seen it articulated like this, and it did hit me hard. I'll remind myself of this quote when I need to. Thank you!
Taking company food off-site? Is she the final boss of capitalism? In 2026 it's hard to watch such characters. Note to the writers: just because she's a girlboss doesn't mean she can't have basic empathy!
This is a really great show. I like how Katsuo has fundamentally changed due to his cooking journey. Nothing like putting yourself in someone else's shoes. He does truly love Ayumi, but he doesn't really know her. He was doing what he thought was the best for her. Of course, he was super wrong and it affected Ayumi greatly, but there was never a deliberate decision to make her unhappy, which I think is important in the context of them getting back together.
As for her, she fell back into familiar patterns, and if it were up to me, I'd spend the next ten episodes focusing on her carving out her own life and her own identity. That's not going to happen, given that we're over halfway through the show, but it would've been the best path for her character.
Ultimately, I like them together 2.0 and I think they have a lot of potential. Let's hope we get a kiss!
Also, Nagisa IS SO CUTE AND SO WARM AND SO PRECIOUS NTBDBIWDFH!!!
For everyone enjoying this show, check out JKY's drama The Boy Next Door available on youtube! It's only a couple of hours long and it's incredibly funny!
I think if a show is charming enough, I can overlook a lot. The photos lost to the river, the collateral damage, even some annoying side characters like the freeloader ex-employee. Who cares when Tae Poong and Mi Seon are looking at each other with heart eyes? I just want to see my babies flourish!
