In the dysfunctional family structure, she is definitely the "hero." She isolates herself and seems to need therapy…
I suspect she lashes out because she has had experience where the "helping hand" has been anything but. Apologies for being pedantic, but both Soo Ji and Woo Ri are psychiatrists, not therapists, and they are both doctors (MDs). Psychologists and therapists are not.
I don't know why kdramas projects 2fl characters as this much shitty. I simply don't see a point. Why they can't…
While the common drama trope is to have the second leads (male and female) as major negative aspects of the story (often being obsessively trying to "catch" one of the lead characters), there are some stories where there is a separate couple development between the second leads. Dramas that come to mind include Run On; You are my Spring; A Business Proposal; Love to Hate You; and The Master's Sun.
That was the best! I'm glad someone pointed out her obsession. I wish SJ would realize just how much she is enabling…
This is mere speculation, but is it because she feels guilty as result of receiving the parent's praise for being so clever and successful despite not being their child? Is Soo Ji trying to help Na Young to compensate? Will this guilt be part of the reason for her disappearance?
Am I the only one starting to get annoyed with SJâs ultra independent attitude? I get that she wants to be able…
I would have to disagree with the rudeness being unnecessary. Yes, she is ultra "independent", but when you consider her family, who wouldn't be?
As for Hyun Sung, he waltz's back into her life and starts trying to control it. What is with publicly announcing in her workplace that he is her fiance? Shouldn't that be something she has said yes to? And how many times has he grabbed hold of her arm, hand or shoulder? She is a highly successful person in her own right, and he is treating her like his personal object who must do everything he decides. He is borderline stalking her.
Her treatment of Woo Ri seems to be more rooted in her inability to recognise someone who genuinely wants to help. In my opinion, that is partly due to her home environment. Having a perpetually jealous and angry "sister", and a "brother" who is totally useless and has done nothing in a good many years must have been extremely stressful. How many times has the fact that she was abandoned by her birth mother been thrown in her face? Also, I suspect that her success has resulted in a lot of professional jealousy, with resultant back stabbing.
Is HS that insecure that he has to give all those details to WR? He's getting annoying too. Sorry, don't feel…
I am not so sure that it is insecurity. Of what I have seen so far (and I have deliberately not watch a few episodes to binge later), the character is the typical rich, pampered boy child who believes that what he wants is his by right, and he will get it. Him telling Woo Ri detailed information is the pompous pretentious statement of "This is mine". The fact that Soo Ji is an individual and not an object is irrelevant.
I looked away for a moment but I guess SJ forgot to take the necklace off and now HS thinks she accepted getting…
I have not yet seen today's episode, and might not for a while. I am thinking of waiting for 2 or 3 weeks before doing a binge watch, including multiple skips of the annoying stuff.
Having said that, my feeling is that Hyun Sung would have paid no attention to what Soo Ji does or says. He clearly is of the opinion "I am the greatest thing since sliced bread, and Soo Ji is my possession." The necklace is mere affirmation that he "owns" her.
It is possible that his father will have some role in the upcoming scandals. However, I feel that Hyun Sung will be the primary driver. His possessiveness will lead to anger and jealousy as Soo Ji and Woo Ri become closer as colleagues and on a personal level. Plus, I feel that he will cling on excessively and that will cause problems for Soo Ji's work. Will he dismiss her past 10 years of career and say that she should be a good mother to their future children?
Finally, I think the yellow cloak will be a key factor, and that is where Na Young will get involved.
Even the sister's voice is annoying and I hate the way she talks down to WR's sister and we already know how she…
I agree with your view of Hyun Sung. If I recall correctly, at the piano recital, while dropping off the flowers, he said his "girlfriend" was waiting for him (or something similar). I realise that this is "drama land", but how can he expect to re-start a relationship after 10 years at full throttle? The lack of respect for Soo Ji and how she will have changed/developed over the 10 years is staggering.
Sadly, this is a main character, so will be around for a very large part of the series.
Sorry Kevin, but I will be watching Queen of Tears (w/endless re-watch) every Saturday and Sunday mornings. ðI…
No worries. I have Queen of Tears on the "To watch list". I am thinking of waiting until next weekend and having a binge session of the first 8 episodes.
Okay, who is going to sign up as a Charter member of "Masochists United"? The first training session will be held after episode 1 of Beauty and Mr. Romantic this Saturday.
The reunion occurs after tae ho sees hyo shim reluctantly interviewed briefly for a tv show.Havent seen an idea…
Interestingly, I took the fact that both Hyo Shim and Tae Ho ran every morning as an indication/suggestion that both were "living" the same existence. Obviously, the random and reluctant "interview" that was broadcast in the gym just when Tae Ho was walking past was purely coincidental and happens to many people in real life. ð
It is interesting that this show gets grief, but Flex X Cop seems to have escaped the fact that the lead car is the 222 million won BMW XM, which has only just been released.
my exactly thought hahhahaha, at least there are few pp who drove Benz but everyone just use the same Samsung…
I have not been to Korea but what you say does not surprise me. Samsung is no longer the best selling brand because of the Chinese Android competition. And, yes, it is clear that the product placement is for the latest and greatest. I am less than a year into a two year contract, and I am certain that the pressure will start at the one-year anniversary.
I agree with your sentiment about the commentators here. It has been fun and a pleasure to exchange thoughts and…
This is one of the recipes I started with, https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/jjajangmyeon/comment-page-29. The other is one in My Korea by Hooni Kim. The former uses radish, potato, and onions, with zucchini. The latter has only onions and zucchini, with gochugaru flakes. Obviously, they both have pork.
There are a few H Marts in Toronto, plus Galleria stores.

While it might seem that Samsung phones are too common in Kdramas, we have to understand that Samsung's revenues represents just over 22% of Korea's GDP, and was the best selling mobile phone brand worldwide for over 10 years until 2023.
