Out of curiosity, where is everybody from? I'm from California! I don't really have any friends in real life who…
I am from Malaysia. I understand and speak Mandarin and Cantonese, but I couldnt read them. I watched a lot of drama but this is the first drama that I actively discuss about. So fun here!
Is this series good for someone who’s not really a fan of fantasy? Please let me know bc I want to watch it…
I personally will not recommend to my friends who doesn't watch fantasy, because they will watch it with a close mind and logic. You need to open up your mind and be creative when watching xianxia. If you think you can do that, please go ahead and watch. It's a good drama.
I'm really enjoying the show, and don't understand all the criticism. The acting, chemistry and visuals are all…
It's not an easy watch for a lot of people, especially those who are expecting an idol drama. I guess that is why the criticism. And I think Bai Lu personally received a lot of backlash and cyberbullying from Chinese netizen. Not sure why...
I’m only on episode 2 but this is giving me Love Between Fairy and Devil vibes! Am I wrong?
Only the ML has the same vibe. LBFAD was a feel good and sweet drama. But TTEOTM is dark and angst. As of now, I think the sweet part is only like 10% of the whole drama? It's not an easy watch for a lot of people, especially those who are expecting an idol drama.
If she was given more screen time maybe we can know her story ... But in here we just see her as a bad woman and…
You are right!! For me, YBC is a very boring character and her whole existence is just to be evil, just because a love story need that third leg to be hated by audience, which is very cliche. But I really appreciate the discussions here on MDL (especially from those who read the novel) and this YBC is beginning to intrigue me a little... I cant wait for the next half of this series, she still has the chance to expand her character.
Come on my favourite character is Ye Bing Chang. Please don't hate on her
I don't hate her. But definitely NOT my favourite. She is just not interesting enough to provoke any emotion from me. Villain is a very hard character to write/tell in any story. I LOVE a good villain in a story, like Joker from Batman or Magneto from Xmen (just an example). YBC has a bad past like TTJ but she was also loved by XL. But she just bluntly betrayed him and also pushed her loyal maid to be killed. I don't like it when the writer is forcing us to believe she is pure evil and hate her. But we are just halfway through the series, I am eagerly waiting for more story to unfold.
I think he has Loki, Hannibal and Lucifer vibes esp in the early stage....
I find him to be very similar to Dream/Morpheus from The Sandman. If you havent watch, you can do so, it's available from Netflix. He is powerful(he is also a God) but abused by human. So he is bitter and heartless, but slowly he regain his kingdom. Awesome story by Neil Gaiman.
